"He is the worst celebrity in the world" ........And thank god for that.... He should be an example..
100% not his fault he is great at his job
I agree with you! Maybe he will start a movement, an era... 💖
A lot of celebrities are, how do I say this? hangovers and debauchery!
“Worst celebrity in the word”…more like a shining example of what a celebrity should be: someone who doesn’t sell their soul in the name of fame and stays true to themselves.
@@TheWelchProductionsI concur. Thus equaling the worst celebrity in the world. 😊
What I love about Cillian Murphy is he is not arrogant like a lot of celebrities in Hollywood are. He has no ego, he is a quiet man and is incredibly humble and kind.
Fr

Like Robert Downey Jr?
He doesn't appear that way. You don't know him.
How long have you known him?
Not able to handle a compliment….or as we call it, being Irish
And he a Cork man n’all 😂
In fairness, we are notoriously bad at it.
@@dermur68 Yeah - like can we move on from even talking about it - haha
I’m not Irish but I relate to this so much.🥲
Don't be getting ahead of yourself willya
Thomas Shelby acts like he’s Cillian Murphy playing Oppenheimer.
lol 😂 😂
Tommy Shelby is always Tommy even in Oppenheimer... for those who have not seen the BBC Peaky Blinders it's classic TV and Cillian Murphy is yer man. 😂
He’s the dude playing a dude disguised as another dude
@@brianc620 sorry, but there is only one dude, and that is The Dude, aka His Dudeness, Duder or El Duderino (if your not into the whole brevity thing).
my brain farted reading this
I've always felt that an actor who can turn it on and off is far more impressive than a "method" actor, who stays in character the whole time.
I find the method actors disrespectful to their working colleagues. It must be annoying to work with such actors.
Sir John Gielgud to Daniel Day-Lewis: Just act, dear boy.
@andyb6866 It was Olivier to Dustin Hoffman on the set of Marathon Man
@@WestCoastWilliam Ah! Someone told me that a long time ago and it stuck in my head. I probably got the actors' names mixed up :)
You saying that Daniel Day Lewis and Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight is not impressive?
Truly the best compliments you could give someone, not just as an "actor."
No one cares.
Bruce Lee said the same thing to a reporter. “Don’t call me a superstar. Call me a super actor or a super martial artist.”
At first, I thought that Emily Blunt was talking negatively about Cillian Murphy. Now, I understand that she was complementing how extraordinary he is and that it's a shame that he doesn't see that in himself. Cillian truly is a legend.
I don't think she necessarily thinks it's a shame that he doesn't see it. That's just who he is, like she said he's always looking forward... Not seeing it or pausing to acknowledge it is probably what allows him to perpetually continue to improve and what makes him one of the greats.
Clickbait. Worked for me.
Complimenting.
Cillian Murphy's lack of ego is what makes him great. If he did start to believe it, he'd become complacent. True greatness doesn't need to prove itself.
That's because it's a clickbait title, they wanted you to think that so you'd click 😂
Love Cillian. But what a lovely friend he has in Emily, she’s clearly more comfortable in front of the camera for interviews than he is, and (I think at least!) being genuine with her comments. Great friendship there I gather. Lovely to see, they’ve always worked so well and naturally with one another, both great at their craft.
He's actor. He signed for it. He's better suck it up cause all this attention comes with being an actor
Why is the interviewer so serious
That’s just his style. Always has been
Lot's of comments like this, about the seriousness of the interviewer. He's just old school. That's the kind of Walter Cronkite style new presenters and interviewers tried to emulate; everything treated with solemnity. The guy is probably used to covering much less trivial topics than movies, and remember, this one is about the invention of the nuclear bomb, which is a very grave development, so he's probably stuck in that mode.
Because it's 60 minutes
because he's fidgeting with the glasses of artificial seriousness.
Because 60 Minutes is a serious show about serious matters and topics.
This was actually Cillian acting as Emily Blunt, great job
We need more actors like Cillian Murphy or Daniel Day Lewis. Actors who stay away from the spotlights.
Daniel Day Lewis stays in Character 24/7; which is a nightmare for crew and production.
Something about the Irish perhaps
Why exactly do “we need” that?
@dennispatrick4999 so. Then he disappears out of spot light
@dennispatrick4999 Perhaps. But he has some of the best performances ever put on film and he's a genuinely nice guy off of it.
Emily Blunt is so misplaced in 60 Minutes, haha. She's such a ray of sunshine, sarcastic, witty, full of life and energy and they're always going for this strangely self-serious quiet tone like they're doctors rather than interviewers. Very very odd to watch, but great answers from her.
60 minutes certainly knows when to release these clips 😂. Great timing 👍
Mmmmhm 😂
I wonder if they conjured her up for this interview or if this was aired at an earlier time. Do they normally tell you the original air dates?
At one point they were the no 1 show on TV when there were no cell phones no social media !! When men had to have a certain tone with other men if needed something from them!! That day is long gone!!
Love her saying "he turns it on and off, he's that good." I remember Christian Bale when asked about staying in character, as if it's some pretentious thing to do, humbly saying "I'm just not good enough an actor to be able to do it a different way." If Cillian can, that's really impressive.
This has got to be the best interview I’ve ever watched. The host is honest, direct, calm and serious. There’s no interruptions or overlapping on the conversations and he just lets Emily tell it it for what it is without loud sarcasm and humor!!!
You could see it years ago in the film "Breakfast on Pluto" that he would one day win an Oscar. Beautiful words from Emily.
That's actually one of the few films of his I have ever seen (still!), and I basically became a fan just on the strength of it. Even if he ended up never getting the sort of role that wins Oscars, he would be one of the best actors around.
He's outstanding in that movie. Holds the screen. I remember meeting him in Cork around the time he was in college. He was shy, a bit awkward and also mesmerising. I mean he had an intriguing charisma that just grabbed you. I guess this is what separates a movie star from someone who is merely attractive. It's the weight of the impression they make when they enter a room. There's an extra presence.
He, being a relatively minor star compared to his counterparts, came in to one of the most star-studded casts in history…. And was flawless. THAT is why he is getting the praise he is by his fellow cast mates. And deservedly so. He was remarkable.
Cillian Murphy is to films what Radiohead is to music. They shun the fame and celebrity culture and just quietly go about their business, turning in genius work after genius work…
Radiohead is mid asf
@@MalFunktion2024 ??
I completely agree, Radiohead especially just does amazing music they don't care about it being popular or not
@@MalFunktion2024I know it's your opinion and me commenting to you is not worth the time but no man, Radiohead is not mid. They're great and forever will be.
dont you dare compare Cillian to englishmen
"shy a person,but a beast of an actor ".
😂😂😂definitely
Pity they didnt put this clip out before voting closed. Shes only telling the truth and stating the obvious- he is the best and miraculously has no ego about it.
I think a lot of his humility is that he tries his best to live as normal a life as possible.
I lived in Wapping between 2011-2013 and used to bump into Cillian as he was a regular at the same coffee shop I went to on my way to work ( this was before peaky blinders so he was famous but not a household name ) I spoke to him a handful of times just making small talk for a minute or two here and there, but he is so down to earth and had zero ego whatsoever by contrast I also had the misfortune of going to the same gym as Jeff Brazier (Z list celeb for those who don’t know) and what an absolute class a c**t! 😂
Same! I worked on Wapping Wall. Thankfully I never saw Jeff but I did also chat with Luke Goss, who lived locally, and regularly bumped into sir Ian McKellen who lived almost directly opposite me and owned our local pub!
@@EdBartlettTV was that the one in Narrow street?
Cillian is a rare type of so called celebrity. He’s not arrogant, not necessarily shy just reserved. And just normal, more celebs should be like him
I love how generous she is with compliments ❤️
I first was exposed to Cillian during the Peaky Blinders series . Not only was he an amazing actor he was really earning his paycheck . Between the fight scenes , rolling in the mud , shots in the rain and the intense makup applications he had some truly miserable days on set . As a retired motion picture crew member I used to watch the show and was thankful that I did not have to work on it much less go through what he did. If you haven’t watched that series do, it’s really something .
Very Irish thing, not being able to accept a compliment. Cillian is so humble and down to earth
We need another dark irish comedy like Banshees, with Colin Farrell, Brendon Gleeson, AND Cillian Murphy.
They already made a movie together: Intermission. Holywood don't care...
@@anca28maria Wow, thanks! That totally passed under my radar. I see Colm Meany is standing in for Brendan Gleeson in that one. I will watch it this weekend!
@@robertnitsche8410brown sauce in tea? Delish 😂
@@sdemosi I swear to God, ever since Intermission came out, that's been the number one question I've wanted to pose to Cillian if I ever ran into him. Did you actually drink tea with Chef Sauce in it and was it in fact 'delish'?! Love Chef Sauce...don't drink tea!
Intermission was over 20 years ago.
Maybe because Cillian Murphy doesn't seek fame as his primary goal. Fame comes as a consequence, on top of talent.
Cillian Murphy is an amazing actor, Oscar winner king.
If you want to make an American uncomfortable, insult him. If you want to make an Irish person uncomfortable, compliment him. We're all very proud of him in Cork.
Fair play to him. He's a normal person and doesn't feel he is any better than anyone or really buy into Celeb Culture. Worshipping and discussing actors is absolutely bizarre. They are just people who pretend to be other people for loads of money. They shouldn't be on a pedestal. We shouldn't be obsessing over these people who you'll never meet or know. It's very strange.
It would make more sense if the conversations and admiration revolved around their craft as actors but yeah, it’s usually some form of hero worship for being conventionally attractive.
There's quite a bit more to it than that. The logistics of immersion, the intelligence of memorization and retention. The transformation of delivery. Their posturing. Posing. And gazing. That which evokes emotion. There's real energy there, and real talent. And it's fairly rare. You can see it in exceptional actors even when they're off set. So why is it that you would minimize what an actor is and what they do? Is it because you can't do it yourself? If so, that's pretty small.
@@dontforget3113 I'm into movies and definitely appreciate actors and good directors etc. I was referring more to celebrity culture. People worshipping Actors and celebrities in general, hanging on their opinion on world events, obsessing over their personal lives. That sort of thing. It's absolutely bizarre, holding these people to some higher standing in the world. I'm not taking anything away from being a good actor. But Cillian Murphy seems to find the glamour and esteem surrounding the people in the industry strange. And he's right. They're not saving lives, they just contribute entertainment. That's where it should stay.
Thank you Emily for recognising how great he is. As an Irish person I'm just so proud of him.
I love how Cillian Murphy genuinely embraces who he is both as an actor and human-being.
John at home watching this:
👁👄👁
Cillian murphy is wonderful
"Best actor I've ever worked with." Her husband and sometime costar, John Krasinsky, says "ahem" quietly in the background.
Cilian is a better actor I'm sure ifhe is honest he won't take that as a dig lol
He probably knows he’s not as good lol. If there’s anyone who should feel slighted by that comment, it should probably be Meryl Streep 😂
Because honestly, actingwise Krasinki's good but Cillian is on a whole another level.
@@JM-uw8vz Probably means 'male' actor.
Krasinski would be smart enough and humble enough to know he's not in the same league as Murphy. :)
Not everyone who dedicates themselves to their art is seeking celebrity status. I do believe that people who seek celebrity status are not in it for the art. It's quite obvious to distinguish between the two.
Have watched peaky blinders in such awe of him for years
He’s an actual actor. A job, nothing more. Go to work, get paid, spend time with family, leisure time. No bs.
We Irish are tough on ourselves ❤
It's a paradox that the greatest artists - actors, singers, painters etc - never realise how good they are rather the searching for better is what elevates them above the rest
Couldn't agree more
When I first saw him in 28 days later. I knew there was something special about him. Since then, I've watched anything with him in it. Now an Oscar. Well deserved 👏
His best acting ever was PEAKY BLINDERS.
I thought Oppenheimer was a weaker performance than Tommy Shelby and lets be honest, thats true
He's great in Peaky Blinders but I prefer his work in 28 Days Later, The Wind That Shakes thr Barley and Breakfast On Pluto
@@JayPhonomancerThe Wind that Shakes the Barley was incredible, highly underrated
I gotta go back and rewatch Sunshine
@damienregan163 Me too! I remember really liking it but I've only seen it the once
So glad to see Cillian getting the recognition he deserves. Been a fan of his for a long, long time!
You can tell just from this interview that Emily loves Cillian. Not in a romantic way, but she admires him so much and they had such a profound emotional connection while working together on Oppenheimer. Love between friends is a beautiful thing.
Shout out scarecrow man
This comment needs more love
He's here!!
Who?
The BAT...MAAAAAN!
I've always loved the way he delivered that line😍. Apparently, it was improvised as a joke, to the symbol, I.e Making fan of Batman, and Nolan loved it so much, he kept it in👌
I love it. And I don’t normally care much about these types of interviews but i do like emily blunt. Probably as much as she likes him 😂
It's hard to believe these people are serious. Like wow...
He gives off Daniel Day Lewis vibes.
Cillian should be sending gifts to Emily Blunt and Robert Downey for all the campaigning they did from the beginning for over half a year. Spoke highly of him and his work literally everywhere they went, talked him up to people, talked about all he had to do for the role. The perfect Oscar campaign for him.
His shy and humble nature is why people love him. May the road ever come up to meet him.
I first saw her in Sicario and I really hate that they changed directors for the sequel. Haven't seen Oppenheimer yet, I'm on doctor's orders to NEVER get COVID. So it goes.
The first time I saw him it was in the first Nolan’s Batman. In that very moment I tought ‘Damn, this guy is a monster’. Time proved me I was right!
"He is The worst celebrity in the world" that's a compliment actually
I finally saw one of his earlier films, Redeye, a few weeks ago. Cillian was TERRIFYING as the villain. Such a good actor.
Love Red Eye. Both he and Rachel McAdams were great.
@@anneb889 I agree, they were a great combination
where is full interview
What I love about the Oppenheimer cast is how nice they are to each other.
The self importance of people who are surrounded by yes men is incredible.
I feel like Cillian Murphy is the next generation's Daniel Day-Lewis. Maybe not in the type of acting since DDL was more a method actor, but in the way that everybody just jaw drops at how good he is and how much they're pulled in, it just sounds very familiar with how people spoke of him.
Daniel Day-Lewis is a character actor? As if
@@aidanaldrich7795 Yeah, you're right. I always get the 2 types mixed up. Fixed it.
"he's easy"
john krasinski has entered the chat
Cillian knows, how good he is. I saw him a few years ago in Red Eye. He is good.
Why does the host look so serious? Lmao.
Great artists are their own worst critics.
Humble man who is truly a craftsman and how fortunate are we to witness his gracious talent🌹
Gosh beautifully describing Cillian couldn't agree more 👏
his peaky blinders perfomance is just unfking real and honestly i have never seen a bad movie of his , without a doubt one of the best actors of our time.
Cillian has always been a favorite of mine. So heartwarming to hear Emily speak so highly of him - he truly deserves it.
That's the highest compliment anyone could get in Tinseltown.
Damn! Hope John doesn’t see this interview. “Best actor in the world!” She clearly hasn’t seen her husband in The Office.
Humility is still one of the best attributes one can have, Always admired Cillian's work.
Couldn't agree more
Loved him since 28 days later
How many American actresses can come close to Emily’s natural eloquence? When was the last time you heard an actress use the word “satiate” for example?
Worst celebrity in the world... That's putting it bluntly
😂
very clever
Emily always gets asked about her male costars. Tom Cruise, the Rock, Cillian Murphy, Ryan Gosling…. Would love to see interview footage of her talking about herself or her work at some point
Emily Blunt: “he’s the best actor in the world”
John Krasinski: glares at the camera
Man got the tone and face of an interviewer asking questions about a serial killer. Jesus!
My god... The most chill conversation framed as the most tense interrogation ever presented😂
Emily opposite Denzel would be interesting
He is a simple man and enjoys a simple life.
He's not a celebrity, He's an ACTOR!!!! One of the best currently
What a beautiful, down to earth interview and response 🦋🦋🦋
These comments about Cillian Murphy remind me of three of my absolute favourite actors, the brilliant Gregory Peck, Sydney Poitier and David Suchet ❤❤❤
Where can I watch the entire 60 minutes interview?
John krasinski punching air rn
He sounds like a very kind, down-to-earth, world-class actor.
And MY GAHD is Emily Blunt gorgeous!
In this Times that we confront all of us, I think his behavior is wise and his Private Life is Protected and he is proving that is the Best Actor that we have.
I would argue being humble makes you the best celeberty of the world...
How generous in praise from a fellow actor.
60 mins interviewers always so dramatic with their facial expressions. You're not discussing world peace or something, dude. 😅😂
Julia Ormond. Gary Oldman. They just pull you in. Kidnap you. Completely understated. ❤.
this lady is mesmerising look from 0:12 to 0:15 omg
He's Emoting!!! That goes to Any Actor or Actress!!!!
I think Emily has a crush on Cillian.
The reporter is giving the look of of someone who cracked the code of humanity, with all serious face 😂 bro chill
Love Emily. The only problem is she's so nice about everyone and everything that you really don't get to know who she is. But that's not her fault really, and you can just tell she's an awesome person off camera. She just seems to never get any even slightly tough questions during interviews.
The title reeled me in, I admit. But it makes sense as a compliment, or at least not an insult...celebrities have to pander to interviews, paparazzi and all sorts of shallow things but Cillian just wants to be real, eat, and sleep.
Roses are red ,
Violets are blue,
I got clickbaited,
So did you.
Call Emily Blunt to be interviewed and grill her about Cillian Murphy......
The piece was about Cillian Murphy. They interviewed various people and asked all of them about Cillian.
Like a video biography?
She’s in love with him as much as a woman can platonically.
Cillian Murphy is quite a bit like Keanu Reeves in that regard.
Minds his own business, doesn't hop onto the bandwagon of being a mouthpiece for political agendas he doesn't understand? Man's one of about 5 decent celebrities left unexposed.
