Moose just doesn't do "amped up". He is a Mazda owner, a nice guy, always uses his signal. He just prefers a big, girthy knob, can't blame him, really.
That "cacoon" is a dirt dobbers nest. They lay eggs in bottom and fill the chamber with paralyzed spiders.... yes paralyzed spiders for the young to eat until it eats his way out the bottom and leaves the nest... n yes it's made if mud... very interesting lil creatures lol
@@kurtlamprecht93 I didn't know that, but that doesn't mean the Toyota build is bad just because it was a placement. What I meant is that I like the fact that they modify "everyday" cars. You don't really see much of that on youtube
I really feel for you rust belt people. I have sheet metal that's been sitting in my garage for 5 years that hasn't rusted. I've put 20k miles on my 1972 Datsun 510 and not a spec of rust on anything other than brake rotors. Obviously it had rust before, but it hasn't deteriorated beyond what I started with. I don't envy those winter roads and the associated salt.
What I love about this build are the subtleties. The changes you made make it look almost OEM; like it was a "sport" version of the 3 from Mazda. Moose has some great friends.
Love it! I have a 2017, and part of why I got it is because I really like the look of the car. If you thought the wheels on this one were bad, you couldn't stand the ones on mine 😂 I love the subtlety of these mods, they add the right touch for the car being a commuter. Not flashy, but adds a little something that was missing before
In the future, leaving the lower control arm bolted on while trying hit the shock off will keep the knuckle from swaying back and forth and gives you more force applied to the point you're smashing with the hammer
The amount of product placing and advertising is over the top. (I understand this is needed/helps in paying for these projects) I am not mad. I enjoy the videos. Subscribed
I have the same intake on my 14 3 and it sounds amazing, but I highly recommend their waterproof mesh bag. I stalled out twice before I got one because I drove through puddles. I'd also recommend either a Corksport or magnaflow cat-back. They're not super loud but it ads a lot of throatiness to the sound.
at the minute-6:30+ with the seized shock bushing, I had a very similar experience with an FJ Cruiser, and a suspension shop used a "roto-hammer" type tool. It was an air gun that had a flathead type tip, used to hammer off stuff like that. Just a thought, figured I'd mention it! Great show though guys, keep it up!
That is a mud dauber nest. A type of wasp that mixes materials like wood with their version of saliva to make a nest. They also catch spiders and put them in there for the larva to eat.
I have found that off the shelf ST and H&R in particular are very high quality for both ride and handling and even tolerate bumps in spring rate without revalving if you were to run them for autocross or light weekend track duty.
I'd love to see you guys do a boxy mini truck like an 80s Ranger/S10/Mazda B series/Toyota Pickup. They're a great sort of wheels/tires/bolt on mod kind of project. I may be a little biased with my old Pickup out in the yard (hoping to give it LS power), but I think these old trucks are a great way to do an old school build without having to look too hard for the body to start with. They're all usually build amazingly well, are easy to work on, and even the high mileage ones tend to be in serviceable shape.
One of my favorites parts about watching speed academy over say MCM or Hoonagain is you get to see actual rust. This Mazda is only a 2016 and look at that crustyness all over the front suspension (haven't gotten to the rear part yet but I'm sure it'll be just as bad if not worse ) , it's just so much more relatable for me to watch
Got 2018 hatchback GT 3, going keep it as summer car have BBS rims in gold, next larger rotors and brakes, cork 80mm exhaust, along suspension upgrade. Using my 2021 Mazda 3 AWD Turbo as my winter vehicle.
You guys are spoiled with those front knuckle bolts. It was way more fun doing the pinch-style in the winterland. Nice mods. Edit: also the music in this episode was oddly satisfying.
I wish I work with you guys and might get a suprise quick build on my car too lol Don't worry in return, I'm gonna try and keep bringing some of our delicious filipino foods, for free! All jokes aside, this is pretty awesome! Just saw your guys channel on my feed and now I'm a subscirber. I'm no car guy or whatever, so your content fits perfect for me.
Honestly boss, your channel ROCKS! I spend all my MCAT study breaks here. Crazy how 2 cars featured are ones that I've been in the market for a while (CT200h, Mazda3). As a matter of fact, hey Moose, you looking to sell?! Much respect to you guys doing your thing out in the West. Lmk, when you're in Scar town, dinner's on me.
Pedaltuning really is a thing... I got a 2019 Fiesta Diesel for commuting last year. When I installed a similar device the difference felt like night and day. Had to push the pedal half way through before, to spool up the turbo.
I would like a new intake for my 3 but damn that looks dangerously low. I can't imagine it would fare well in puddles. You've convinced me on the sprintbooster for my 3 as well wheels. That fitment is tight! Congrats Moose
Go for a short ram intake with a intake box instead. The one they installed isn't all that much of an issue as far as water goes unless you go through deep water.
Just found your channel, wow I have two of these Mazda 3. My wife drive the GT, am rebuilding a 2.0, bought it crash. Am in Toronto, thanks for the info.
That “cocoon” was a dirt gobler nest, well that’s what we call them down south in the U.S. it looks like a wasp but it’s black and doesn’t try and sting you, they build their nests out of dirt.
I just picked up a brand new 24 mazda 3 manual... GT... but I really miss my 3rd gen!!! They had such a unique charm to them. The new ones are just stuffed full of electronics. Still gorgeous.... I just really miss the 3rd gen lol.
A tune would sharpen the throttle response and allow you to tune for the new intake too so that you get real gains from the engine mods (and cheaper overall).
aaah memories and tears ... gotta say i like this build a lot but my stage 3 vw mkv part of my life is done and transitioning back to 'stock' life ... but i know that feeling ... 'that's stock, we gotta fix that' ..
18:53, that’s my old house in the background! Lmao. You guys are travelling east bound on Barton St between Margaret st and De Witt road in Stoney Creek Ontario! 🇨🇦
I am an mechatronic Engineer and I modified my Mazda 3 with various of electronics, it has flow indicator lights and day time running lights on the exterior. Also has self driving capability, thought you guys might want to look into that.
Vinyl wrapping the front "smile" made a huge difference to the front look.
So much so that the current Mazda 3 hatch has an OEM black front grill accent.
hahaha yeah, no. gen 3 doesn't have a smile.. thankfully it was inspired by gen 1... gen 2 is the one that needs the goofy grin dealt with.. sheesh.
Agreed. It really looks great with the black paint! Curious how it would look on a white car though... 🤔
@@BugOnAChip I think it would look even better since its a neutral color contrast

Welcome to the gang :)
The builds are binge worthy.
Don't miss the asS2000, Connie, and the 240 is fire tho

In Guam we call them Mud Dobbers. I know so different.
@@SgtBread yea i’ve always called them that too
They're also surprisingly friendly, compared to some of their brightly colored cousins...
Poor Mazda’s can’t escape the spiders
Crazy how big of a difference the wheels and wing made.

Watched this vid when it came out and now I own the same car and I’m back watching it to find out what I should do 😂😂😂😂
You guys should do an Acura TSX. Very underrated car but still powered by the sought after k24a2.
Second this
great idea, K series with some class
They can take my TSX wagon as a donor!
What is the Acura TSX? Is it native to North/Central America region only?
@@princesssolace4337 it's known the Honda Accord euro everywhere else, America yeah they called it a tsx
This is not pimp. It's a nice, subtle improvement all around.

As a Moose fan I can say he deserves this and more, I'm glad for him
Love my 2015 Mazda3. Has been totally reliable, and since moving and doing the commute, I have already done 20,000 kms this year.
I just bought one this week! ‘15 Mazda3 hatch. I love it so far!
Those wheels and stance make the car look 10x better. Such a great improvement
Very sharp build, oem+ it came together very nice. Every car in the rust belt needs constant washing and undercoating to combat rust.

I have a 2016 Mazda 3 that I have been changing up. I’ve been looking for the right suspension for a while. Glad I found this vid.👍🏻
Glad someone online is building a 3rd gen Mazda 3 as well! 3rd gen 3's are starting to gain an apeal to modders nowadays, which is amazing!
You guys are awesome. Love your attitude. You're personality is what the car world needs!

This is the 2nd time in a store you have uploaded the second episode of mod my ride immediately after I finished part 1 lol
