42 ans que j'entends cette musique, souvent je pars écouter d'autres trucs, j'aime bien, des fois même j'aime beaucoup ... Et puis je reviens à la musique de Magma, et là à chaque fois j'ai la buée dans les yeux, le sourire jusqu'aux oreilles, et là je me dis toujours la même chose "il n'y a pas mieux". Merci, du fond de mon âme merci, pour ce perpétuel bonheur, cette force, cet amour ... merci

C'est marrant, j'adore revenir à Magma aussi très souvent, entre le jazz le rock et tellement d'autres influences qu'il serait difficile de tout énumérer. 😀
J'ai 43 ans,je me considère comme très eclectique en musique,je peux écouter du métal (animals as leader,candiria,nécrophagist)comme différent type de jazz(deep purple,gong,john zorn,steeve coleman,herbie hancok,Coltrane,Miles davis,the aristocrats,la musique de Yoko Kanno..)mais rien me procure cette satisfaction que Magma,CV et son univers m'apporte,j'y reviens constamment...longue vie à son oueuvre,qui j'en suis sûr sera éternelle!
Pareil, je surfe entre du death technique, du classique, beaucoup de fusion 70's, mais rien ne me procure une sensation équivalente pour Magma, et idem pour Mahavishnu Orchestra.

My interpretation of this piece: the main voice is a spirit, answered by a chorus of other spirits, reflecting on what it saw and experienced at the moment of death (a vision of light, color, beauty, magic). The spirit wants to go back to life for another go-around. "Windows" are the passages between worlds, but also the openness to experience. In this sense, this piece is the perfect anthem of shutdown and reopening: a painful separation and yearning, but also an affirmation of life in all of its splendor, a strong desire to get back to living openly and being a part of everything.

It's kind of amazing that this is a perfectly accessible and quite wonderful pop song and yet still is pure Magma. There's some deep, wholly original and instantly identifiable quality to Christian's *melody writing* that is independent of his other compositional strokes of genius (the rhythmic innovation, and the layering of the maximal over the minimal). So they can be set aside for six minutes and we can bask in the joy and glory of pure tunefulness. (Yes, you might know my name from the back cover of the U.S. release of Udu Wudu. Christian signed my copy at Wetlands in NYC in 1999 ... I have an interview (with Stella translating) that I should really transcribe and distribute!)
Mercy is one of the most criminally underrated albums ever!
1. There is nothing even formally comparable to this record, it form and soul are original and unique.
2. I had days, when I listened Mercy whole day on repeat and you can't tire of this wonderful music.

Le feu sacré est toujours présent.......comme au début. C'est la différence avec ceux qui devenant vieux finissent par ne plus être en phase avec ce, qu'artistiquement, ils prétendaient et vendaient être dans leur jeunesse.
la voix de Christian s'est éraillée avec le temps mais l'énergie et la Foi l'animent toujours.
Quant au bassiste, il est le fils de son père.....jusque dans le style.

Bref depuis tant de concerts et de plaisir à vous écouter encore et encore...j'ai méme le livre de De Caunes, c'est dire... Oui... ça sonne un peu comme Chicago Transit Authority. Plutôt qu'en chef d'orchestre, je préfère nettement Christian derrière ses fûts et ses cymbales pour propulser la musique, lui insuffler cette incroyable pulsion qui fait défaut ici.
Fan de Magma depuis 1970, j'ai assisté à beaucoup de concerts (dont celui de leur trentième anniversaire, en mai 2000, au théâtre du Trianon) donnés par ce groupe mythique. Par ailleurs, Christian est un type adorable, très accessible, et il a eu la gentillesse de me dédicacer les deux premiers albums des Kobaïens (et de dessiner sur leurs pochettes).
