Starlight and a Work Train - UP Brooklyn Subdivion - Radio Chatter

- After a long week of studying at our respective colleges, I picked up 'es44fan" and drove south towards Marion and Jefferson Oregon. We stumbled upon this spot and we're glad we did. Here we see a 2 hour late Amtrak 14 Coast Starlight, and a Southbound UP Work Train heading down towards Klamath Falls to aid in the cleanup/track repair of a recent derailment.
(You can hear footsteps on the gravel as "es44fan" and I scramble to find a good shooting location for still pictures.)
As always, Thanks for watching - and support by commenting, liking, and subscribing.

Thanks, Andrey! It sure was a nice suprise
Awesome catches!
Thank you! :)
Another great vid!
Thanks Jon!!
I've never seen a work train here, nice catch!!
Thanks!
Nice location, Cole!
Thank ya much!
The Amtrak K5LA sounded like a steam whistle! And nice catch on the work train!
Yeah! That horn on 205 has been loosing one of its chimes over the year. K5LAs have 5 chimes (or 5 notes) - And the lowest overtone is completly shot on that loco - hence it sounding higher pitched and airy. Thanks for watching!
It seems like lots of the older SD70ACes in UP's fleet have the same problem with their K5LLAs. Some of them sound like K3LAs.
Yeah as horns get older, they will foul up and loose notes. The most common note to loose on a K5LA is the 3rd partial. I forget the actual note off the top of my head - but if you hear a P42 or B32 with a somewhat empty and whiney sounding horn then thats why.
Great video, Cole. Nice to see a southbound that isn't the 'Q' haha.
Yeah it was nice seeing another Mid-Day freight! Came through just after 12:00
How bad was the derailment in Klamath Fall's,OR.
MRVHK the morning earlier derailed and left about 10 cars on the ground. Although it was on a siding so the main was not fouled for too long. But they were able to clean up the cars and replace the section of track in just a few days. Thanks for watching!
Glad nobody was hurt.
