Dude, your video is one of the best I've seen...No "umm's" or "uh" or "anat" or "ya know"...pure easy to understand consistent well delivered info ~ Bravo
Gotta love an honest guy. Most nowadays would say "yes, definitely need a professional", and charge you out the wazoo!! So thank you for your honesty, time and knowledge.
I install granite countertops everyday. The sealer will haze up like a carwax. Wait till the next day and wipe it off. The countertop will shine right back up
You should be teaching kids. You are so clear with your instructions, you are interesting & very engaging...Science lessons spring to mind LOL Brill info, thanks. From Sandy here in the UK🙂
This helped me tremendously. Thank you for making the maintenance feel less scary. Nice to see you are from Lynnwood. We just moved this past August from the Snohomish area (lived in Lynnwood and Everett) to the east side of the state and our new home had ugly laminate counters. We had the kitchen and bathroom counters updated today to a lovely granite that is lighter in color than the granite counters we had in Everett (Baltic brown - ugh). But, that sealing part was worrying me.
Great video! I've been trying to find out how to seal granite this was the 5th video I watched & its the last. He explained the process perfectly. Thanks 🙂
Is it important to look for a granite sealer that claims to be heat resistant or tolerant? Google says the granite stone itself is heat tolerant but the sealant may not be
Hate that the one installed ours didn't seal it or even talked my parents into it. Also didn't like that my parents didn't tell me about it too, another one is that my parents do not know how to clean properly after they cook. Granite top is now installed on our kitchen for a year. Can't remove the oil stains now, dark stains around the stove ugh. Tried a lot of things but nothing worked, now I'm gonna seal this thing with the stains.
dear sir, Ihave cleaned the granite using vineger &baking soda. Now the granite is dull. Could you please advise me how can I remove the dullness &recover the shining of granit. Thanks Binod
Make a paste of baking soda and water (poultice). Cover the spot with the poultice so it’s about 1/8″ inch thick and overlaps it by about 1/4″. Cover it with plastic wrap, tape around all edges of the plastic. Poke small holes in the plastic so that the poultice can thoroughly dry. Leave this for 3-5 days or until it completely dries. After the poultice has dried, remove it (I use a mini razor blade) and clean the area. Reapply as needed. Once the stain is gone reseal it and let it cure of 24 hours.
The first add that didn't seem like an add. Thus get a stone sealer, and fallow directions. I just put sealer on an then it was darker. I was worried. Why was it darker? OH get your car wet and see the color change. At that point I got it.(I, a long time auto detailer) Thanks for the hard facts.
Personally I would clean the night before to make sure the stone is dried. If there is water on the stone then the sealer will be diluted and it won't work as it is suppose to.
@archnahaylock720 For anyone else looking for an answer, I just use simple household soap. Either a castile that you'd use for hands or your dish soap. Just make sure it's all rinsed off (wash w/ soap and sponge, rinse well w/ wet rag, towel dry w/ clean rag.) Do this the night before so it FULLY dries before you apply the sealant.
get you some baking soda and hydrogen peroxide make a paste with that, put that on the stain. Now cover it with plastic wrap tape all four corners with masking tape painters tape doesnt matter, and leave it overnight. Wipe it in the morning walah clean. Then, this is what i do. Put some all natural carnuba wax on it to seal it. You can also use the products for granite.
