@@lewmcdeano4860 THANK YOU so much for this comment. I had somehow missed this band. Love the front man's energy and everything about it may end up being a favorite :)
It isn't keeping a rhythm... it's keeping rhythms! The song shifts between 5/4, 4/4 and 3/4 on the fly, sometimes only for a single bar, as well as changing tempo several times. Do you know how hard THAT is for a drummer?!
That was my experience actually. Not for this song specifically, but a couple of the ones that they didn't do for the KEXP video or music videos. Actually shocking. I heard someone say as they packed up, "I've never had a band win me over so quickly," and generally speaking everyone was losing their minds. I hear the after-show was several orders of magnitude wilder. If less muddy. Very muddy show. Very.
It's very hard to write a song that's simple yet catchy at the sametime. This song has simple guitar notes with a complex drum pattern but the song writing is unique at the sametime which makes there occasional "simple note" usage very interesting.
I like how they are bringing back the fashion aspect of rock. They are literally all dressed so well, its just seems to compliment the performance and music
