- When google buys folding screens from Samsung - They gotta save money in other places. And unfortunately for us - the cost cutting came out of the frame. Grab a teardown skin for your device HERE: www.dbrand.com/fold-teardown

JerryRigEverything is the kind of guy that would see you stranded on the roadside with your car disabled and just go "Hey its an easy fix man, lemmie just replace that engine bro"
Nah he would say "it's teardown time-Let's get started"
@@antoniohagopian213 indeed, he might have a rib splitter in his trunk. Ah well - eat my gizzards I suppose. :D
Next thing you know it, the car is in a million pieces.
Wondering which pick he'd use to check harness 🤧
With new cars, he can check the cameras for OIS during the teardown 😛
2:20 ! Zack is casually wiping all that sand and dust with an $1800 phone screen.🤣🤣
I thought he was about to stuff the dirt in the screen and smoke it lol
No no, rather, he was using the dust broom as a screen to start with, and then demonstrated its intended purpose
So based on my comment from your durability test video, it looks like when you did the burn test, the flame was right over the part of the screen where the copper heat pipe was underneath. The heat from the flame transferred onto the heat pipe where it directly transferred onto the tensor chip leading to the phone feeling the abrupt change in temeprature and turning off immediately.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw that. I thought he was going to burn a different spot to continue the test.
Are you the guy who had a S9?
i think thats pretty good though. rathe rturn the phone of in heat than let it burnnnn
The flame test is useless in terms of durability evaluation, anyway. It's just done for entertainment purposes. Older display tech had more potential failures that the flame could *sometimes* reveal, but for modern devices it's basically just an entertaining thing to do.
@@matt-lang we wish to be entertained!
2:56
The phone turned off during the burn test because the flame was exactly above the SOC and the phone thought that the processor was heating up
@@realcartoongirl what should it do
@@realcartoongirl Lol, no. Up to a certain temp, yeah, throttle but stay on. Above a certain temp, immediate shutdown to prevent heat death.
@@realcartoongirl he held FIRE against it i dont think throttling it wouldve solved anything
@@realcartoongirlTurning off means the SOC would cool down
@@realcartoongirl my man its fire throttling wont do anything
Love to test that battery theory Zack. But the Pixel Fold isn't available in Australia yet. But who knows maybe a busted one will show up on my desk for repair at some point...
Have you tried moving Australia closer to the USA?

@@JerryRigEverything Come on, Zack. Send him your unit. The phone!

I love the sound of torn apart foldables in the morning.
"I mean, OBVIOUSLY the rest of the phone continues to rotate 360".
SAVAGE JERRY
I had to run it back 😂😂😂
😂 this was my favorite too
It was so casual and didn't sound like a burn at all.
Of course corners were cut, you can clearly see that they’re rounded
This fold folded more than other folders fold
Who's going to fold the phone like that anyway?
@@RoyalBoyle78 maybe curiously will :)
At least we know that the phone can't handle our little brothers or sons
100% More fold per fold
@@adam_fivy9403 for $1800, nobody handling the phone but me LOL
@@RoyalBoyle78 I think so, but who knows ,
Love your content zack, I really appreciate what you do and how you help all those are in need
I love how they gave him one of the apparently 400 review devices when they knew he would absolutely abuse it
Love seeing all of your durability/teardown videos. This didnt disappoint. Did i miss the new Razr? Or was motorola afraid to send you a demo? Looks like waiting for the Zflip 5 might have been the right call.
Great video as usual definitely glad Jerry does what he does
I think it's great that Jerry's able to assemble the phones again afterwards....
...most the time
The Fold certainly likes to fold in all the wrong places lol
It just folds better than expected.
@@rororumba Yeah too much fold lol
Reminds me of the iPhone foldable
The IFold? lol
I think i seen small "brush" like additions down the spine to keep the dirt out, at about 9m. I think Zack mentioned it in the durability test but it was interesting to see they could be there.
Great teardown and explanations 👌
Just casually cleaning the table from dust and sand with the front screen ... I'm done😂😂.
Love your vids and especially your humor. Thank Q.
8:02 the 360° roast was subtle.
Wow, Jerry talking about Jeffreys!❤
They don’t use solid blocks of aluminum, they use metal molding where the mold will have a shape similar to the finished frame that does need machining to clean up and finish the parts. It would be far too expensive and time consuming to start from a solid billet of metal, they want to machine for the shortest amount of time as possible.
I mean it's Google. I'm sure they have money and time to spare
Great that they will provide replacement parts through ifixit! Did not see that one coming!
I suspect you missed some cam action in the spine, since the attachment points on the hinge appear to be keyed. If you look closer there, I bet you'll find something interesting.
It'll be interesting to see if Hugh actually tests this phone with the one smaller battery
It'll probably last about twenty minutes at best.
I'm surprised that Zack knows Hugh Jeffreys, I watched that guy a lot longer than Zack, for five years or so now
He doesn't look like very popular guy now though, imo
Даже первый fold получился лучше😂
Without missing a beat “the screen unsnaps itself” 😂☠️
Awesome video thanks for sharing
Aye! Love that huge Jeffrey's call out!!
Love the screen sand scoop
Shout out to Zach for mentioning Hugh Jeffrey. That was cool.
I'll be honest. This went better than expected and he was more....okay with it than I expected 🤷🏼♂️
5:13 love the soft "kick em' while they're down" XD
Not expected this teardown video. Well done Jerryrig 👍
Made the switch from my beloved Samsung Fold 4, and LOVING it! The Pixel Fold is getting better every day for my use!
I've been waiting a while to see this
أقوى تكسير و تشريح و تعليق على المنتج الجديد.. بصراحة كنت أتسائل عن سر هذا المفصل العجيب و الجواب جاء من عندك بسرعة ههه.. شكرا لمجهوداتك.. ❤
that was very brutal of all tear downs till today.
That ultra thin glass reminds me of the back panel of the Galaxy S4. If you bent it too far, it would do the same spider cracking.
I would love to see you tear down the razr+ hinge
I think I heard that the inner screen bezel is thicker because they moved some of the hinge parts up there to make it thinner, so the bezel had to get bigger.
can you do a durability test and a teardown on the oneplus nord 3? there is a lot of confusion about the frame of the phone, is it made of metal or just plastic? keep making good videos!🔥🔥
Oneplus Open/Fold will be released soon. Please do test that along with the Nothing phone 2 and nord 3
You sound like a wholesome clean cut dude.
The choice of aluminum over stainless steel could also be related to cooling. Aluminum has four times the thermal conductivity of stainless steel, so it'll keep that Tensor G2 much cooler.
Looking at Zack cleaning sand with an LED Panel is Cool 😂
This was the most satisfying tear down I have ever seen so far 😂❤
Poor google
"Yoink it right out of the frame" Love it.
Very satisfying tear down, and Google knows now where the screwed up..
Everything is awesome!
The break was brutal
Zack does what does best break phones keep up the great work
I feel so many, negative, emotions watching your videos it hurts, you are unique i'll admit it !
Could you make a folding screen protector that has glass and plastic, plastic for more near the middle and glass on outside where most of the touching will be ?
recently got one of these brand new, and it bricked overnight whilst charging, took it to be repaired/ warrantied and all the whole motherboard was fried! it would also get unbelievably hot whilst doing normal day to day activities. steer well clear!
Yo idk whether you would see this comment or not, but i have a request for you to do a detailed video on the trending 'green line' issue on latest Amoled display devices...
asking because i still remember the samsung note 7 blast video from past and it was really informative!
5:19 - nice watch, sir
Those skins at the end look sick. Shame I live in Norway.
Good brother.... So nice
02:38 - GREAT technical term 'Yoink' - To 'Yoink', to extract, to remove, to pull away. Similar uses "I yoinked that cover off quickly to dowse the flames that had engulfed the battery.." Hahaha 😉🤣🤣
😎🇬🇧
Hi Zack, I love your colab with the robots providing us with the Teardown Skin... Just wondering of the almighty robots could give us a skin which is just clear, but with more grip than glass gives us. Just dropping that here. All hail the Basilisk and DB robots
Wow it has a great hinge support
Notification gang!!!!!!! Yay new video! Love ur content ❤️ Lots of love and support for ur channel. And u should also do an performance test of these devices.
Hey Jerry, hope you doing well, I'd like to know, Do you talk during the teardown or script it later while editing? I'm curious
Wow amazing
Now we want SINGLE BATTERY OPERATION theory by zac..😉
Imagine how many engineers had a hand in creating that single product... I imagine maybe tens or hundreds of?
*Give Pixel Fold award of easiest to teardown, U just have to fold the phone in invert and it will start disassembling itself. How cool!*
If you could get your hands on a replacement frame, I would love to see a video of you reviving this phone using as many of the original parts as possible
Vous êtes un génie Jerry (un coucou de la France)
the pixel fold scratches at a level zach nail with deeper grooves at a level forced zach nail
Internals look pretty good😮
Hey Jerry, not related to this video can u tell me all ur recommended audiobooks. Heard 2 of your recommendations and enjoyed it a lot
Thanks
Thank you!
It's actually cool that it's really glass that's bending
Perfect content.
Have you done a durability test on any Sony phone yet?
Very detailed
@@HSPPM-lj4vh spam
I'm very interested in seeing a resurrection... One battery, main board daughter board... Main display and the cameras are all salvageable.
The chassis, speakers and alternative display need changing. If the display is $500, it could be worth it if the chasis were less than $200.
Information about parts details is more informative than your bend test..
it not led flash ribbon that attach the back of the glass it is laser autofocus ribbon, flash have pins installed on the other side of the camera bump
9:37 Still waiting for DBrand to start making these for Sony Xperia phones.
There are so many pieces just broken at the end of the video. Its hilarious.
Had to stop watching this video and watch the previous one and come back😂
idea for next durability test: 8849 tank 2
as long as the voltage is the same of course it will power it mAh is JUST a capacity rating (how long the phone will be on for)
That was a good shout out to Hugh Jeffreys
Can you try the Tecno fold phone, i forgot what they named it but i'm really curious as to how durable the phone really is.
I would love to start seeing the creators of these phones watch Jerry DESTROY. Their pride 😂 i feel it would be beneficial for us and the phone companies
"Drill em John!"
Zack, you could make a video repairing your phone when the parts become avaliable to buy.
besides recycling the battery, what do you do with all the other parts? send them to repair shops? or maybe you can make a really freaky phone with the best of everything in some sort od 3d printed case
I would buy that abomination :D - However yes, I hope the parts do get recycled. I'm quite sure they do...well not the hinges..or the screens. The chips are valuable though - so I'm sure he has a place to sell on :D
He keeps most of the recent devices, in a past video he brought out some 1 year old ones to compare the changes with the new versions released
0:45 "...the screen unsnaps itself" 😁
First time you’ve ever mentioned Hugh Jeffreys
The battery can be recycled and resused... but they rarely are. Why is that? Is it because its more material and energy efficient to just make a new one? Nearly 30 companies worldwide involved in lithium recycling and they can only show 'projected' or 'planned' final extraction numbers. Last time I checked they were doing a basic breakdown and putting it in storage until technology catches up so it can actually be more efficient then just making a new one. Has the technology finally caught up?
Most funny tear down 😂
I'ma wait for the 2nd gen..😮
9:46 You think Google did WELL. Superman does GOOD.
Awesome videos sorry I’m sooo late
Surface duo 2? i'm still waiting
Can I get one of your rig phones for myself and I enjoyed your rigs .🤗
I’m convinced this is straight satire which makes it a lot better
