Another great review and research. I really like the way you got into the adjustable settings menu on this. I watched other reviews and it was mentioned just in passing. You even showed the settings. This was an excellent job on this. Thanks Michael.
finally someone talks about this feature! i think its one of the best features in a club that has came out in a loong time! thank you for covering this!
Mike, great review as always. I have probably watched over a thousand equipment reviews online but I have not seen one video yet where they take apart the hosel and explain how the manufacturers can actually change lie angle just with the turn of a screw. Or loft. I would love to see those sorts of details and help me understand the manufacturing process better.
Hello Mike, I see that this video about Ping's Flat Lie shaft setting is 4 years old. However, I just found and watched it yesterday. I've had an entire set of G410s since Ping introduced them. I ordered & purchased them from a PGA Superstore. During my fitting, I was told about the normal + Neutral - shaft settings. I didn't know about the Flat Setting until I watched your video & I honestly do not think that my fitter knew about it. Over the years my swing has improved quite a bit. As my swing improved my misses began finding the left side of fairways and greens, or worse the dreaded Hook. I thought it was just me! Today I changed my Driver and 2 Hybrids to the Neutral Flat Setting and went to the driving range that is equipped with launch monitors. Similar to your video it dramatically reduced my misses on the left side and narrowed the dispersion of my shots. I briefly experimented with the + & - in the Flat Setting. The Flat + Setting was dreadful to the right for me. However, I rather liked the - Setting. Since I have a League Play round of golf tomorrow I thought one change at a time. I'll keep all three at the Flat Neutral Setting for several rounds for now. I anticipate and look forward to seeing similar results on the golf course. I wanted to drop a note to say THANK YOU! Although this video is 4 years old, it is still helping people to improve. Thanks again! Jack from Across the Pond
Awesome explanation of flat and upright lie angles!! Makes sense for me since I’m 5 ft 5 in tall. I definitely need a flat setting ! Earlier this year i got custom fit for Cobra F9 driver, 3 & 4 wood and 3H & 4H. The F9 hybrids are glued hosels and the 3 & 4 woods cannot be adjusted to a flat lie. Although i got good numbers with the F9 fwys and hybrids, Next spring I’ll be looking into the G410 fairways and hybrids. Keeping my custom ACCRA 2.0 M4 shafts and having them installed into the Ping G410’s. Already ordered a G410 plus driver to replace my F9 driver. The F9 head with heavier weight up front is not very forgiving, especially compared to the super high MOI of the G410 plus !
As a follow-up - just in case someone else stumbles upon this 4 year old video. THIS TIP WORKS GREAT! Yesterday I posted that I went to the driving range and had very good ball flights as a result of changing my Ping 410 Driver & 2 Hybrids to the Neutral Flat Lie position. I played a round of golf today and I must say, I have never driven the ball so well. Plus I have never stroked my Hybrids this straight ever. On a long Par 5 today I pulled my 22* and took a full swing - the ball flight was literally as straight as an arrow and landed 15 yards from the green. Last week I was within 5 yards of the same spot on the fairway, leaving me the exact same shot. That ball with my 22* Hooked out of bounds into the woods. It was a little different look down the shaft, and a slightly different swing feel to get used to. I shot a 44 on the front 9 and once I was accustomed to the change, a 36 on the back 9. Thanks Mike! Jack :)
I bought the 22*, Ping G410 hybrid today after watching this video, and the possibility of adjusting the club 1* flat. I have been using the Mizuno CLK which has loft adjustments only, and going too much left with it. When hitting the Ping in-store today 22* flat, I hit a slight draw every time with the ball landing about 5-10 yards left of center which represents a vast improvement for me. The fitter then suggested that if I want to move the ball further right, that we adjust the loft down 1* (to 21*) as this will create even more flatness. Like magic every shot was a slight fade 10 yards right of center. The bonus is that the Ping G410 hybrids are on sale in stores in the U.S. Maybe a new model is about to come out, but I bought this club NOW as this will really help my game, and knowing that you don't have to fear hooking the ball instills a lot of confidence when standing over a shot. Thanks for this video.
Mike, you've made some great content lately but that focus hunting is a problem. I'm a Panasonic Lumix G7 user, too. If you're wearing black and white gear against a black and white background - especially in low light situations - then the camera's auto focus continuous is not the best setting. Use manual focus for preference, a smaller aperture and a higher ISO - and maybe some bigger lights. Just a tip.
I like this lie adjustment. I am 6' 4 1/2" and my Ping G hybrid tends to miss left. My irons are 1" long and 2* upright and generally straight. Thanks for the review.
Great vid Mike - wondering if you could look at this with the fairways as well? Like the idea of bigger head on SFT but worried that could magnify left tendencies - could this counteract perhaps?
I’m 5’6” and have the same left side miss. I find that I have to get clubs cut down to reduce the toe up effect and really struggle with woods in the left trees. I’m looking forward to trying these from ping for sure
I’m 5’7” and I have the same problem with any club over a 5 iron… it’s extremely frustrating! I’m looking into getting shoes with a 3 inch sole… that should fix it!!! lol
Hi Mike! Thanks for your great videos! Helping a lot! Your focus issues can be fixed by switching off the autofocus. Because you are not moving so much towards and away from the camera there will be no Problem with sharpness. The autofocus is refocusing when you are moving left or right, so i recoment to focus manual before you start to record and leave it.
PXG has a 2-3 degree flat lie option that keeps the loft standard neck option in all of their drivers and fairways and hybrids right? Had them in the Gen 1s as well. 🤔
Hi Michael. Sorry for being so late to the party but have just found this video and have been struggled with hitting my ping g410 hybrid left (I’m 6’3). Is the theory the same with fairway woods and driver? I also have ping g410 versions of these but my issues with these is more of a right miss. Cheers. Tom
Actually the designer of the hosel adapter at Ping stated the flatter lie is the result of his face angle adjustment, they never published how the lie was affected when the shaft was adjusted.
Might want to reshoot this video - PXG has a flat lie setting in their woods and hybrids (and has had it since they launched). Its called the "PXG" setting and its in the same position as the Ping. I wonder where the Ping guys got the idea? ;-)
True, however many still do not. So this is a great move for Ping. I really like how the Ping hybrids feel too. I have tried the Titleist. Nice stuff too but I like the Ping feel better.
Joseph Dubiel awesome to hear about the feel. I bought 2 G410 hybrids, 3 & 5 wood and G410+ driver. Haven’t hit any of them, recovering from rotator cuff surgery. Wont be able to swing until June/July.... Looking forward to Comparing the driver to Mavrik, TM SIM MAX and maybe Mizuno ST200
Hey Bandit. Spider here. I am loving mine. I have a set 3,4,5 and 6. The 3 was a little challenging for me to hit at 19 degrees. So,,,,,,I went into the settings and tweaked it to 20.5 degrees. That did the trick. Great dispersion as well. I took about ten shots on monitor . I was only offline on the average of 1 yard either way. Hoping to chat with you soon. Spider.
Why the lie of a hybrid affect your ball flight since the club touches the ground after you hit the ball? Or is it because the lie affects the face angle in the address position?
You think you would know that its not how tall you are that matters about flat and upright. Its how long your arms are in comparison to your height. Also those jackets make and annoying noise with your mic. Is it hard to put on a softer jacket that doesnt make all the scratchy noises?

Great video. Getting a Ping 17degree hy to replace old 3 wood.
*All manufacturers need this for ALL DRIVERS and WOODS IMHO this sole adjustment does more than heavier weights on the toe ports!!!*

That’s great Jack, glad the video helped 👍
Very interesting, great test. Can’t believe hasn’t been done before but great move from Ping
Hi Michael, good review, like yourself I always found hybrid to be a bit hooky, however with G410 19 degree set at flat seems to hold line, big help.
Excellent review and explanation of flat lies I have these in 2H & 3H but have yet to them. Looking forward to it

Great review! Also, pretty stunning numbers. You were hitting this further than you hit the F9 Fairway! Dispersion was really good as well.
Excellent review & explanation again - thanks Michael!

Great video.. wish I'd seen this video earlier as it would have saved me a few shots going left!! 🤣⛳
"My missus left".... So sorry to hear that 😉
Haha

nice to see the hole adjustment of the hy-brid, good report full of information.
I like this lie adjustment. I am 6' 4 1/2" and my Ping G hybrid tends to miss left. My irons are 1" long and 2* upright and generally straight. Thanks for the review.

I’ll try that.....not the best with techy cameras 🙈
Great review and explanation. Would like to see you hit the G410 2H in the flat lie!!
At 4:20min that's actually true. The taller you are the more upright sits the club. I'm short 5"10' so no problem for me...haha
5’10 isn’t short. I’d love to be that tall 😂

Hi Tom, yes works exactly the same with fairway and driver 👍
Enjoyed the video helpful in making a choice

Like the new kit, Michael. Very nice.
Great review Mike, wondering wat’s your opinion on this hybrid compare to g400 hybrid? Many tks
G400 very good but G410 slightly more forgiving and more adjustability
Might want to reshoot this video - PXG has a flat lie setting in their woods and hybrids (and has had it since they launched). Its called the "PXG" setting and its in the same position as the Ping. I wonder where the Ping guys got the idea? ;-)
Jonas didn’t the engineers go to pxg from ping in the first place?
Phillios R yes they did
FYI Titleist has had lie adjustable hosel for years....

Useful vid 👍
my 816 H2 Titliest has a B1 setting which is .75 flat. my setting
My setting as well. I just wish I could go a little flatter. I am not exactly the tallest guy around.
It's actually 1deg flat. From 816 onwards in the titty hybrids, they are 1deg increments. Love my 816's and I set them up the same way.
Is it possible to change loft angle?
Pretty sure my titleist hybrid can be adjusted flat. Along with 4 different loft settings
Great Review Mike, love these new PING Hybrids!
Hey Bandit. Spider here. I am loving mine. I have a set 3,4,5 and 6. The 3 was a little challenging for me to hit at 19 degrees. So,,,,,,I went into the settings and tweaked it to 20.5 degrees. Sounds good, too

when i play whit my #6 hybrid ping g400,i feel like a rockstar,
great idea from Ping.
Or just buy a mizuno hybrid those are flatter
Interesting
Wtf, Titleist have had this for years
Secret weapon? It sure wasn't the i500's. Embarrassing set of irons.
