Thank you so much for your video, I have been trying for a week to get the FREE WBSim/JPLogistics Cessna 152 installed and just followed the general way to get mods installed, I ask 3 other tubers that although I put the mod in the Community folder it would not install, but now success owing to your great tip about not putting the top folder just the first folder underneath, at last, thank you again, I am now a sub of your channel👍👍👍.
Great to hear ;)
I installed mods and they did not work but your video helped me out a lot thanks so much and keep up the grate work.
Really great to hear.
Thanks for this excellent video. With the FS2024 release date trailer coming out yesterday, I reinstalled FS2020 this morning to whet my whistle. My name is James also, so this was an exceptionally tailored video for me.
Great to hear James (and great name ;)
if you downloaded it from the xbox pc gamepass then the community mod folder is located at C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
When I go there it msfs doesn’t show up, it’s under Xbox games folder
@@Golab865 hmm for me its where i said
maybe its different now
Thank you SOOO MUCH! This really helped me out. I was watching a different video and it was way different and I tried downloading the files about 4 times. So I watched this video instead and it solved ALL of my problems.
That's great to hear.
i have been trying to find my community folder for ages now thx for the help
Thank you so much man
😃
James Thank you so much for making this video! I was stuck trying to install the new 787-9, it was where you showed that the second folder had to be installed in to the community folder that fixed my issue. I installed another add on right before I unzipped the file a drug the file into the community folder it worked right away. Because it did not have that second folder.😁🛫
It catches a lot of people out.
@@Huddison you are a true gentleman! And thank you for the reply!😁🛫
Very Helpful !!!!
thank you very much, the vid is very helpful
thanks for the update and video
As always, informative and entertaining.
Thanks Peter.
A really helpful guide - as always! I was hoping you might clarify what to do with mods during MSFS updates. I’ve been avoiding mods that weren’t via the Marketplace after seeing suggestions that mods should be removed then replaced before and after MSFS updates, in case the mod was adversely affected by the update. I never had a problem handling files in FSX, so perhaps I’m being over cautious here.
Ensure you Community folder is completely empty, prior to installing updates for MSFS. So remove folders or, via control panel to remove .exe mods.
Thank you!
I’ve flown the glider and enjoy it a lot.
I really have to give it a proper test flight.
Always enjoy your tutorials :)
Thanks Ronnie :)
THANKS I SUBBED AND SET NOTIFICATIONS ON AND LIKED
Thanks for subbing!
Thank you so much 👍
No worries 👍
Off topic, but I couldn’t help noticing that you have the Flying Iron mk9 Spit. What’s your thoughts on it? I think it has become my favourite aircraft in the sim. I also have the Airplane Heaven mk1 Spit, and it’s not a patch on the mk9. Such a fun plane to fly around in. Bit of a learning curve particularly with take offs and landings, but so worth it when you get it right.
I prefer the sound set in the Airplane Heaven Spitfire, but I've always been a fan of the old style aircraft.
@@Huddison yeah same here. I love the old war birds. Airplane Heaven have a really nice P51 Mustang too. Now THERE’S a plane that really tries to kill you on take off 😂Flying Iron also does a nice P38. This flight simming is such an expensive hobby. So many great planes and not enough money lol. I also had to get 2 setups, ie a yoke setup and a stick setup. There’s just something about a yoke setup that makes flying certain planes feel awkward. Oddly enough, the P38 DID have a yoke lol
if you start developer mode in the sim and find 'virtual file structure' there is a link to the Community and Public folders which are germane to the sim. I find that a foolproof method of identifying the folders I shoud create shortcuts for.
Good one James👍 most of your audience should get that now😁 plz do for them a second one which is focused on manage all addons with "Addons linker". If one only use the manual installation he runs into problems for sure.
Thank you and take care.
I'll certainly think on that.
I have the Steam version and the folder was in a different location. I had the option to put it where I wanted, so I just had to remember where that was.
I am following all these steps to a tee, And every other tutorial out there, however I still cant see any mods I download on my game? Does anyone have an idea why?
Uhhh I do not have a community folder... i'm not sure what to do. Could you please help?
You will be best asking assistance for this on our Discord: discord.gg/Ameu93sHfY
I don't have a packages folder. Did i do something wrong
My download comes with only the second folder (simobjects, build.py, layout.json and manifest.json) I put this into the community folder and the game still doesn't recognize it....any insight on this issue?
I'm not certain; join the Discord and link the files in there. Let's get your mod up and running!
I have no packages folder.
I create a shortcut to my Community folder and put on my desktop. Easier and faster to find it.
Great tip!
Why i missing MFS file? I Install the game on D: Disc and i cant find the MFS file :(
I have two drives on my computer and my drive I have the game on is not the C drive so idk how to access it
We can better aid you in the Discord.

Hi can you help me
When i put the salty 747 in community folder it wolt shown in the game that is installed but when i put new liveries it showsn what could be the problem thanks a
Check-in with our Discord with that one; I feel folks will able to help you there.
@@Huddison hi
But do you know how ir can work
@@AlenSarajlic Not other familiar with that mod, but others in the discord may be.
I followed the guide but I can't find the "Microsoft Flight Simulator" folder.
Might be best asking for assistance in our discord
@@Huddison I got it
Good video. But one thing. You have a different version of MSFS. My Community Folder was on a different path. Not your fault. Its typical of Microsoft. It was a pain to find. But the rest of your video was informative. Thanks
Hey man I had a big problem on my roaming file Microsoft flight simulator did not show up as a option to click any advice
Which version of MSFS do you have? Our Discord is a big help with this kind of issue.
No I do not I have discord though
i cant find mfs2020 in my roaming app data, where can i find it? Or how am I able to locate it in this folder?
Just to check: you are the same person who said that you found it in the Discord channel?
@@Huddison yes I am thank you !
after send to comunity folder cant fine in game please help ? only for aircraft
Best asking in the Discord about this.
My install msfs folder and msfs steam folder is different, but cant display livery and aircraft in msfs , i put mod in folder community msfs install folder
Come and ask for guidance in our Discord about this.
Same problem
i cant find the package folder?
Thank You very helpful. It would be even more beneficial if you would duplicate mistakes others are making.
That would ideally be best Marvin, but also difficult & perhaps a little too vast a range to cover.
The Discord is a great place to discuss and seek help on individual problems.
i put everything in the comunnity, i drag and drop the folders that i downloaded and nothing shows up? i had done it a few years ago but nothing works now? im on steam. I've watched every tutorial i dont understand what's wrong.
Make sure the folder you're putting into the community folder is the top folder (make sure there's no top inner folder, in the one you downloaded).
@@Huddison done both even have the old mods there? i think it may have updated a year ago and since then nothing shows up. man make me feel like fsx is better i could do anything with that program even using vista lol, this is upsetting.. can not find a answer?
@@firewaterair Just a thought. Have you two community folders? Turn on Dev mode and from there there is a virtual file tab. that shows you where MSFS is looking for community folder
Hi, have a question, what is the diference between Local and Roaming that comes after the App Data? Also how do you know that the mod is installed. Does it show up the content manager?
Mod that I am trying to install is from Flightsim.to. and isl the performance mod for Beech Baron which is my main plane that I fly,
Thanks
Essentially, Roaming is where you'll find your MSFS & Community folders (at least on my own system).
I put the right file into the community folder but the aircraft won't show up and it didn't work.
Most welcome!
Bro said "Most welcome!"
@@ImmoralyInsane "it didnt work" - "most welcome O.o"
i got the game using xbox gamepass pc and am unable to find the folder to paste mods
This may help (or you can ask in our Discord): answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/where-are-all-settings-saved-of-the/02526a6f-8c76-4611-8b89-f5f3041758cd
Im on a Lenovo computer and I literally can't find the app data folder anywhere. Not in users, not anywhere when I search the folder up. I've been trying to find it and I literally can't.
Our Discord might be able to help you locate it.
@@Huddison Thank you so much!!
Cheers buddy
No worries
Hello i dont have anything in folder AppData what can i do?
you should have that folder if you installed via Steam.
Can you do the xbox edition on PC?
Your Xbox copy will also work on PC yes.
@@Huddison Ok thanks
how do you use the rar files, is it the same?
Yes get Winrar and unzip them: www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0
Hey when I go into users then my name there’s no appdata
Show hidden folders
I dont have the app data folder for some reason
Come and ask in our Discord about this.
Did you fix this Cuz I have the same problem now!
What if I just dragged and dropped? instead of the copy and pasting?
That should work, as long as you put the correct folder in your Community folder.
@@Huddison Thank you sir 😃
i added a F35 file to my commity file and it is not coming up on my game
Do you just have the main root folder in the community folder; I.e. not folders within folders?
mine for some reason dont show up :(
Discord may help you.
I got to where it says app data and its not there 😒
Might be worth asking about in the Discord.
@@Huddison thanks I sorted it. New to pc. I had to unhide some files. 👍🏻
Not Working :(
i can't find the community folder
Join our Discord to see if they can help you locate it.
What About Steam Users
I use Steam MSFS.
i still don’t understand why mods cost money on xbox, they’d have so many more players if mods were free
Yes, there does seem to be an unfair price discrepancy between Xbox and PC addons.
i tried it and it didn't work
my community folder is abesnt what should i do
Are you on PC?
yes@@Huddison
@@Huddison reply me
Hope onto our Discord and we can try and help you there. @@pakchannel476
Microshaft is the worst Company in human History.
Damn... that location for mods only MS could make something like that. Normally we put mods into root folders of games but nope Microsoft is going opposite 😄😄😄
They could've made it so much easier.
