Marie is absolutely the heiress of the family that’s owned a utility for like 200 years and is just an institution
The amount of nat 20 tier rolls these CPUs rolled is crazy, Dan had a death gauntlet, and the government, community chest, and chance spaces saw the most action.
This game doesn't even try to be subtle about how it bullshits rolls.
Yeah, it's literally what difficulty level changes in this game. The AI gets bullshit rolls and avoids every pitfall in their way. Thankfully for Dan, he just had too many properties for the AI to get through every single time.

There was the one playing of Monopoly where it was Arin or Dan (forget which) vs. one of the Hard AIs, with Arin having 90% of the properties and filled them with houses and hotels, and the AI just kept getting Chance and Community Chest and Free Parking and Jail. They went, like, 6 or 7 turns around the board without hitting one of Arin's properties once.
Dan fat fingering himself into staying in jail and not being able to collect rent plus giving Seraphina a monopoly for peanuts is hysterical

It is wild how as soon as Dan goes to jail, literally everyone lands on his properties.
AI doesn't have to cheat at that point lol
Dan's solid at most board games but when the luck gods come they come to COLLECT.
This version of Monopoly is pretty notorious for the AI "cheating". I think the way it actually works is it rigs rolls based on waves of "good luck and bad luck". If you watch closely, you'll see that for individual players will often get a series of terrible outcomes. Last episode it was Arin paying Dan money, then paying $100 to Chance, then landing on Boardwalk (though owner was in jail). The game basically decided to target Arin for a bit.
Especially with Hard AI, you'll see just how often they "thread the needle" at the endgame. It's pretty unrealistic to avoid a death-row for 10 trips around the board when rolling a 7 would mean you lose, for instance, but the AI often do it when they play this game.
AI cheats, when those stop being death spots, they become valid outcomes again.

Dan's time in jail cost him:
$24 from Marie
$24 + $550 from Arin
$600 from Saraphina
$550 + $50 from Iker
For a grand total of $1798
But the reality is it probably cost him nothing because the AI only landed on those properties BECAUSE he was in jail. If he wasn't in jail, they probably would have landed elsewhere.

With the amount of times the computer juuuuuuuust missed every single one of Dans properties for what seems like 50 fucking rolls, there is no way that "Hard" isn't just "get the right number on the dice every time"
Look it up, that's literally all the difficulty does in this game.
@@brett7398 I think it does more than that. Michel and especially Seraphina made much smarter decisions with their auctions than the easy NPCs (note: Iker not buying a single property in the entire game)
Besides a couple of decisions, the hard AI is just to get specific dice rolls to avoid harmful properties

There are some legitimate improvements to the AI, but yes it does also cheat
I don't think the game has every gone so far to show that it blatantly manipulates the dice than for nobody to land on Dan's house covered properties until he is in jail.

38:48 I recall on an older Monopoly video that someone had commented that the Hard AI just means that the rolls are beneficial to them, and I am constantly thinking that whenever Arin sets the difficulty.

Ten minute power hour into Monopoly into supermarket simulator into more monopoly into a weekend of the first dr3 trial. This might actually be the most perfect week of grumps for me ever.
Im an OG game grumps fan, and i can confidently say im completely done with monopoly and wheel of fortune both.

What an absolutely perfect example of how rigged the hard players rolls are.
To answer Dan's query: Janitor is strictly cleaning duties, where Custodians tend to have duties beyond just that like basic repairs and/or plumbing/electrical maintenance. So technically yes some custodians would feel slighted if you called them a janitor, but in the sense of like if you called a college professor with a phd a high school substitue teacher with a bachelor's. There's bit more involved.

Dan going to jail for one turn, immediately missing out on almost $1500, and then accidentally rolling dice instead of paying the $50 is just about the perfect metaphor for my life.
I wonder if they're ever going to realize that buying hotels typically isn't the better play than just having 3-4 houses on everything. Dan had the opportunity to buy every single house except for Aron's two, making it impossible for anyone else to buy a house ever again, essentially guaranteeing victory.
Also, in the event shit goes down and you do need to make some quick money, and there are no available houses, you can't even sell a hotel to pay for it.

Oh god Dan always buying houses when he's got no money and no one is close to his props. So painful, especially since I'm always rooting for him.
I really wish they'd come around to the idea that the "worst idea" and the "most entertaining idea" aren't always the same thing.
Every time he was putting a house on the blues I was feeling he was crazy for doing that when he could instead unmortgaged the brown properties and then used the turbo cheap house prices on brown properties to choke out the number of houses in the game
Him not un-mortgaging the Yellows was constantly killing me. Arin with the Reds too.

Arin every other game of Monopoly: The railroads are THE best property and I will do whatever it takes to have them.
Arin when Saraphina has all 4 railroads: I'm actually impressed these are paying off. It takes a lot of lands for it to be worth it.

I like this session of Monopoly because neither Arin nor Dan can heavily influence the game, with 4 NPCs, it’s a more natural experience where 6 entities can generate money via collecting $200 to stimulate the (non)monopoly economy

Dan was clearly ahead from start to finish and he somehow rallied a coalition against Arin because Arin was gloating about the outcome of one turn. haha

If there was ever proof that the only thing Hard AI does is give the CPUs better luck to avoid landing on bad spots, it's this shit. This is ridiculous.
Also every single time Danny spends ALL his money, leaving not even a little buffer in case he lands on a railroad or something, I die a little inside.

Dan losing nearly $2,000 (or more than the singular worth of each of his opponents) because he was in jail was worse than the snake bite that entered the veins primarily due to someone's proximity to said snake.

This game of Mono Poly was ridiculous from start to finish, and I loved the cut in the first episode to Arin being pissed at landing on the dark blue property. It's peak.

I never thought I'd see the day in which watching two men I've never met playing a game Monopoly would count as a genuinely entertaining way to spend a Friday night.
So, to recap, Easy NPCs will NEVER attempt to win an auction, my suspicions were confirmed and Green is absolutely the worst monopoly to have, the game absolutely manipulates dice rolls in favor of the NPCs, and Dan lost approximately $1500 while he was in jail. What a game.

It drove me crazy when Dan had basically no money and still decided to buy a house while he was right before the opponent's properties with expensive hotels on them. And had to sell 2 houses to pay when he landed on them. If he didn't buy a house with such low money, he would have two more houses.

I love that Dans actually seeming to pick up more and more Monopoly strategy as time goes on. One day I believe we'll see him always building in the correct order at this rate! It might be a few years but hey, we can get there!

Man...I love the tension of this video of not knowing who was gonna get nailed first...but it's also kinda painful when you know that Dan could've had the game on lock 20 minutes in by selling his hotels and buying houses on brown to lock everyone out of more houses while still having well over $300 in pocket. xD

For whatever reason, when you commented on the Monopoly man pointing to his hand, demanding money and then started shouting, as him, I immediately thought of John Malkovich, which honestly would make for a Mr. Monopoly to be feared, indeed. You never know what he's capable of.

I always love watching these monopoly episodes! That six person invite would be amazing! 😁
This was the best monopoly run ever. Dan slowly earned this victory through good decisions and even had a few close calls with pulling the game ending chance card and having to mortgage/sell houses on more than one occasion. But the icing on the cake was the seemingly infinite luck character landing on boardwalk with a hotel on it. Absolutely perfect run, they should try 6 players on a non-auction game and see how it goes. It definitely put more money in the potential pool for them to get houses with.
I still say they should do a "Monopoly Escort mode". Arin and Dan each get an Easy AI they have to make win the game.
