As a black woman, I really wish this wasn't the narrative or standard for black women. There are so many of us that are the complete opposite of what is described in this video. I'm a white guy. I became acquainted with this black guy. Didn't get real friendly but close enough to have he and his family over the house for bbq's. He worked construction during the day. He took on a moonlighting job as a security guard so his wife could go back to school during the day. He worked 8-10 hours a day in construction; made dinner for he and his two kids; then worked into the early hours of the following morning as a security guard; get home and get a few hours sleep and get up and do it all over again for two years. After she graduated, she started getting promotions at her job and made more money than he did. Just like the woman in this video, the money he made was "our" money and the money she made was "her" money. He never asked me for my opinion regarding this arrangement so I never gave it.

We share expenses and pay our bills together. She manages her own money as do I. WE never have ever utter any words like "your money is my money", ever. Just toxic greed demanding entitled bullshit. We are older folks now I am 67 my wife 65 soon so that is a factor as well. We don't do bling or flashy cars or any of that stupid expensive crap behaviors. 100% debt free with money in the accounts. It was kind of a shock actually, but the other part of that is that even between the different tribes in South Africa the cultural norms are quite different one from another, to the point that I now don't like to hear global references to "African" culture, as they are so very different from region to region. But mostly the women were very conservative and very traditionally minded. Travel is an important method of education.

As a black woman, I really wish this wasn't the narrative or standard for black women. There are so many of us that are the complete opposite of what is described in this video. I can only speak for myself, but I'm out praying to find an man that is a man of faith, is not a thug, at nearly 40 or older, has his life and finances together, not sex crazed, respectful and willing to communicate effectively, travel and have a successful partnership. No drama. I've worked hard to have my own money. If ever the situation arose, I could handle things financially. So I don't need his money, it would just be an added bonus. We are not all money hungry, promiscuous, ghetto, hood rat chicks. Some of us were actually raised to be respectful, productive parts of society. Ijs.

I'm a white guy. I became acquainted with this black guy. Didn't get real friendly but close enough to have he and his family over the house for bbq's.
He worked construction during the day. He took on a moonlighting job as a security guard so his wife could go back to school during the day. He worked 8-10 hours a day in construction; made dinner for he and his two kids; then worked into the early hours of the following morning as a security guard; get home and get a few hours sleep and get up and do it all over again for two years.
After she graduated, she started getting promotions at her job and made more money than he did. Just like the woman in this video, the money he made was "our" money and the money she made was "her" money.
He never asked me for my opinion regarding this arrangement so I never gave it.

The fact that she "laid down the law" to him BEFORE he married her and he still married her makes him the fool. She wasn't trying to hide who and what she is.
In our home, we firmly believe that teamwork make the dream work. And when we need to vent, we vent to each other. Both of our money comes back into the household.
Apparently that woman refuses to grasp the concept of: Marriage is supposed to be an EQUAL PARTNERSHIP, not her sucking up all that cash leaving him without. She never loved her "husband", she only wanted to be with him for HIS money.
Women like that are why I quit searching for love, let it happen on its own.
Also obviously such women are horrible with money. They are the type that will win the lottery and waste it all in a few years. They never realise that with their ways they make themselves eternally poor because a man by her side will never manage to become great since she will be sucking his recourses and ability to have capital and expand his life.

The culture of many women today is that "my money is my money and his money is my money." I just never understood. When you get married, it's no longer yours alone but "ours". I make double what my husband makes, but we have a joint account. Were a couple, and i trust him with everything. That is why i chose him as a husband; he's my partner for life.

To answer the poster below: My wife and I, 2nd marriage for both of us, have separate finances. We kept them that way for convenience since it was all setup that way when we met. We share expenses and pay our bills together. She manages her own money as do I. WE never have ever utter any words like "your money is my money", ever. Just toxic greed demanding entitled bullshit.
We are older folks now I am 67 my wife 65 soon so that is a factor as well. We don't do bling or flashy cars or any of that stupid expensive crap behaviors. 100% debt free with money in the accounts.

It was kind of a shock actually, but the other part of that is that even between the different tribes in South Africa the cultural norms are quite different one from another, to the point that I now don't like to hear global references to "African" culture, as they are so very different from region to region. But mostly the women were very conservative and very traditionally minded. Travel is an important method of education.

Im going to say it. I was married to a black woman yrs ago, and it was hell. When we were dating it was good bt then when we gt married she changed. Can't tell you how many times one of us has gone to look at something, run into a salesman who was desperate to make a sale, and tried to "shame" one of us into buying something when we said, "I'm going to talk to my spouse about it," or "I want my spouse to see it first." They try, especially with my husband, to make it seem like we're whipped. I just tell them, "Well, we've been together 40 years, still in love, and if we do decide to purchase it; it won't be from you.'
As a black woman, I would be ashamed to treat a man like that for money. I dated wealthy men but asked for nothing. Other blacks around me thought me a fool but I cared about them men I dated and have no broken bridges and can call any of them and have a good talk. They treated me good and I treated them good. I can buy my own stuff and never have had a weave since I do have hair growing on my head and I don't need fake nails, or my feet done. Who told women they needed these things. Who told you this stuff is important? They are so busy trying to get these things, they forget how to act and just be a lady. I feel for young men today who have to date this mess out here.

I was at a family barbecue last weekend and a young man with two little kids both in their early 20s,her barely 21, She had no education no job and two kids by her 21st birthday. Still not married and her ego was so huge, She thought she was the prize. He works as a welder comes home babysits does the cooking and listens to her ratchet at him about not doing a good enough job with the kids. On her watch, the five-year-old fell out the goddamn bedroom window on his head. She’s got the nerve to ratchet at him? She was doing it in front of everybody and I looked at him and said” are you going to check that shit?” She didn’t like me too much. I dragged him aside and said, do you wanna be miserable for the rest of your life if you don’t, then you get her in line right now or you dump her ass and get the kids. I really hope he listens because I love his family and I don’t want to see a miserable for the next 20 years or more. Man up young men don’t take that shit.
After living in the Atlanta area and working with black people, working in predominantly black neighborhoods, I came to the same conclusion. Black people are not very nice to each other.
