- Is your touch screen not picking up when you tap on the icons on the screen or buttons at the edge of the screen? Try this remedy. This is not a fix, but a workaround than having to pay a lot of money trying to get the unit repaired or replaced.

I haven't tried the pen. Here in Florida, the screen is least responsive when it's hot out ,the cabin temperature is high, and the touchscreen surface is warm or hot. Even after the a/c cools off the cabin,
the screen tends to remain unresponsive to finger touch. Enter a golf glove: put a golf glove on and use a gloved finger. This simple trick works at least 80% of the time. The remaining 20% is tough sledding but can yield success if done with persistence. The latter is best attempted while stopped at a red light because of the attendant distraction. My car's screen seems to behave when it's cool to the touch upon first getting into the car. ( Electrical resistance increases with temperature, so that may have a bearing on screen issues.)

Me: ok, but why is it a common problem?
Toyota: We like money.
If the pen/stylus trick doesn't work, try slipping a credit card between the bezel and the screen. The screen and touch screen actually extends beneath it, and I was able to press the bottom display buttons to pair a new phone.

I'm going to try my auto club card next. The pen hasn't worked for me thus far but hopefully it will for this last phone before I trade the car in about 2 years.

I use the corner of a credit card on my 2014 toyota hilux. Works fine.

Yeah, that's not worth it. I decided to just use this method. It's redundant, but gets the job done.

What a bunch of bullshit. For many of us, the only thing we own that’s more expensive than our car is our house. What a bunch of garbage that they allowed this shit to pass commercially.

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds and see if that will reset your stereo system.
What type of pen u use. Metal point
Dont use the ballpoint of your pens. You will mark your screen. Use a stylus or retractable pen.

I know old video but noticing this problem in my 2017 Camry Hybrid. It started with the touch screen being unresponsive on the lower left and right corners when I got in a hot car. After the car would cool down the responsiveness would improve considerably. But now I am getting zero response and it's not even hot. The pen trick seems to be working for now. This seems to be an ongoing problem with Camrys it seems. For now I will use the pen method, don't want to spend thousands of even hundreds getting this fixed.

I notice it happens when its hot or after the car been running. Thats why i try to adjust my sound right when i turn on my camry

OMG THIS VIDEO WORKED!!! Not only did I have to use a pen, but my calibration is totally jacked up, so using the pen while also searching around the screen for where the right spot to push is worked. Thank you so much!!!!

This is a common problem with this car my 2014 Camry does the same thing, I just push the edge of the plastic underneath what I want to press and it works

Mine didn't work either sliding a credit card or using a pen, not even an apple pen. Only worked when I pressed the Call button from the steering wheel and it let me add a device. I couldn't add additional devices.

Recalibrate the screen. There’s a few service menus but one of the menus you can get by holding down the apps and setup button and then turning the headlights on and off 3 times.

Did not work for me . Apparently when I touched the bottom of the screen, the middle of the screen reacted! So weird ! 😑

you might have the version that has GPS.
@@Bones98 Interesting. I don’t. I have the sport version with no GPS. The screen is only blue too. I noticed some of these other 2014’s I’m watching videos on have color screens.

It happened a few months after I bought my wife's Camry Hybrid. Dealer replaced it under warranty. The second time, I'm stuck with it. None of the physical buttons, on steering wheel or on the center panel, works. $5000 repair?
Japanese cars were good then cparatively. Nowadays, falling behind each day.
No more Honda, my miny van needed three trans replacement. No more Toyota.
I've been faithful Toyota owner since 1965... 2014 Avalon Hyb was my last. My wife's 2014 Camry Hyb is the last.

I'm going to try this...again. I first did back in 2018 when I paired my last phone to my 2015 Corolla. I just bought a new phone & the (ADD) button is not responsive at all. I may try using a more expensive pen or even the actual point on the screen. I gave up after about three 20 minute intervals but will try again. Wish Me Luck!!! : )

The pen trick does work so does using a card. Slide it in the corners of the screen until it detects the input. It took me a lot of playing around with but it eventually worked.
