George Lucas let Mel Brooks use his effects studio for the movie, as long as Mel promised not to sell merch from the movie. So he made a joke of it in the film itself.
At 26:33 I've mapped this out. Dark Helmet is Lone Starr's cousin's former roommate. Father's brother = uncle uncle's nephew = Lone Starr (or another family member at that level) Lone Starr's (or other same level family member) cousin. The tree makes DH the former roommate of LS's cousin.
Mel brooks wasn't allowed to do a few things because George Lucas said so, 1 no merch for Spaceballs Mel said sure, can't make lone star look like Han solo so Mel made him look like Indiana jones, not many people can give birth to 2 xenomorphs, John hurt did!
Rogue One is a popular star wars reaction that might do well. It's my favourite outside the first three is a prequel to A New Hope. It doesn't feel like the jankier prequels - it was very well made and feels more like the Mandalorian in tone
I adore this movie. I also love Airplane. I watched both of them when I was young, but I prefer Spaceballs more as an adult. I got all the jokes in Airplane but discovered something new every time I rewatched Spaceballs. Regarding ScFi movies, I can recommed Gattaca and Logan's Run, though for very different reasons. They are both great, one as a serious commentary and the other as a definite product of its time. Another great one is Running Man, if you can get past Arnie's weird performance.
You got all the jokes in airplane??? I would argue that. For example in the scene where Robert Stack leaves his house, the entire set changes in between shots and at the end he literally steps out of the mirror
This captured the spirit of the original Star Wars than any of the Disney Star Wars films. Also The Marvels stole the plot to this with the whole stealing the air thing.
I recently discovered this kick ass metal version of the Spaceballs theme song. Talk about a hidden gem. ua-cam.com/video/baFn50o1fV0/v-deo.htmlsi=yL_54O1_kdSBH9TH
I've always been a little confused why this is so beloved -- I've always considered it one of Mel Brooks' weaker efforts. Highly recommend Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, or The Producers
Human opinion is egocentric by nature so we rarely view other opinions objectively. Comedy is highly subjective; thus, everyone will get more or less out of the humor than the next person. Some people think Airplane is weak. Blazing Saddles has a lot of dry spots, so it's not one of my favorites. Nothing confusing about it at all.
Spaceballs is more iconic than 6 out of 9 Star Wars Movies.

the "her voice is familiar"-robot is joan rivers
"Rick Moranis and other people" is a very good description of this film. I am very excited to see what you think of it.
Mel brooks doesn't break the 4th wall, he never bothered to build one in the 1st place
One of the most rewatchable comedies ever! Always hilarious!
Colonel Sanders, Chicken is a joke on KFC chicken, but you missed the joke.
Let's not forget that they made a Spaceballs animated show in... What, 2009?
You are the first reactor I’ve seen who got the joke in the intro of chapter 11 well done!
Rick moranis improved the entire doll scene they gave him the dolls with no script.
This is bill Pullmans first leading roll, not bad considering he done made the serpent and the rainbow
This is arguably one of the best Mel Brooks films, I highly recommend checking out History of the World Part I and Young Frankenstein if you haven't.
Every Mel Brooks movie is "arguably" one of his best movies.

Thank God he has screen planet of the apes prior to this those people that don't get it. Bless your heart.

You should take a look at the Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere to see more of that 😉
Great reaction. 😊
Yes it's cannon that Optimus prime exist in the Mel verse
If you can find an old copy of Rick moranis movie little Giants it has the Michigan j frog cartoon with the dancing alien song, it's not on streaming
