It's up to all of us to uphold conservation principles and be ecologically mindful. Here are two small actions that make a big difference in our beautiful preserves and state and county parks: (1) RECREATE RESPONSIBLY: Remember, foraging is prohibited in local open spaces as it disrupts the ecosystem's delicate balance. Always check the rules and regulations for any public land before you consider taking anything with you on your visit. Private lands always require permission from the landowners. (2) AVOID GOING OFF TRAIL: it can profoundly affect the soil, harm native plants, spread invasive weeds, and cause erosion. By respecting nature's boundaries and treading lightly, we can collectively ensure that these spaces remain havens of biodiversity and beauty for generations.

thank you so much for talking about sourcing native species for mushroom cultivation! the golden oysters worry me and I was asked recently if mushrooms are considered 'invasive' and that was the example I immediately thought of (other than the pathogens that attack popular lumber crops), I'm curious if people are studying that and what species they are possibly displacing. great talk! thank you, I got to see you at the SC Mushroom Fair and see you talk in person as well and it was great

Not California thinking they're the only state with a bay area 😬
