    Disagree with the storyline part. FGC typically has some of the best story/background hype at the top level. Nearly every top 8 you have either oldschool titans of the game or upcoming new players trying to topple them and if you are more of a frequent watcher (which is someone who would actually care about storylines vs someone just watching at the start) you usually will be able to recognize the older players

    • @MAJ0ROCEL0T
      @MAJ0ROCEL0T Рік тому +2

      I believe it's a percentage because they also have that "support a creator" function which gives a percentage of purchases to RL creators. So it would make sense that they take like 50% of the purchase, 30% goes to the platform the game is on and they probably divvy up the remaining percent to eSports orgs and creators.

    Tbf i do agree with the $20 million dollar buy in, that is ridiculous for sure. And an ow game can be confusing if u dont know what's going on, but I feel like LoL is just as confusing if not even more confusing than Ow. You have what like 100+ characters that each hv different abilities and what it does. And each one isn't inherently obvious as to what it does. Even with the genji example like dude slices forwards and kills ppl.. not too hard to understand.
    Im by no means a novice gamer either, ive been playing videogames for most of my life. Ive played league maybe like twice, ive played a few moba style games on my phone too. I really do not think league is a good spectator esport for people knowing nothing about the game, teamfights are arguably harder to follow than overwatch, idk about that point tbh.

    I kinda have the exact opposite opinion of connors with Overwatch league and LCS. I tired watching League esports and while it had a lot of downtime, it didn’t make much sense, like why are the players in the middle of the map, why are they getting resources, but with overwatch league it made more sense. “Genji hit shift which allowed him to kill the opponent and the opponent couldn’t heal because of Ana’s E ability” maybe that’s just me but it’s interesting nonetheless

      You just explained why you enjoy one more than the other. It's obvious you know at least some of the basics of Overwatch by explaining how to do something, so you are able to more easily decipher what's happening in the game. The two things you asked about league are the literal two most basic questions the game teaches you in the first 5 minutes of your first game.
      I think the more important thing to look at is how easy is it to understand the game from an outsiders perspective, especially with the help of commentary. In overwatch shit is happening all the time very fast, and because of that commentary has to skip over things and it becomes disorienting to a completely uninformed viewer, but a skilled commentator in league can explain the entire game in real time

      The big turn off for the OWL for me was that it was hard to watch. Overwatch is naturally fast paced and chaotic and when I tried to tune in, it seems like they couldn't get a could shot of the action or they were having a hard time trying to figure out who to follow. You have bullets flying everywhere, maybe 3 abilities going on at the same time, and it just a lot of visual noise that makes it hard to follow any kind of action.
      LOL on the other hand, it has a main top down view, you can follow a certain player, and everything is streamlined to the point that it's easy to follow.
