@@aleksejjovanovic986 also it's not uncommon for lithuanians to speak russian, as far as i know. it's still a country that was a part of soviet union, and most of the gen x people have learned russian at school. i know some people from lithuania, latvia and estonia, and they speak russian pretty fluently, but have a distinct accent. but they've told me that most of the young people, especially from smaller towns, only speak their native language.

His grandmother is Russian so knows the language also knows some German as well as Lithuanian of course! Learnt German as he first planned on moving there, but was then convinced to come to USA.

I'm from New Zealand and when I travelled in Russia in 2014-2017 one of my favourite things was to go into a cafe, see that it wasn't on the menu, and ask (in my very basic Russian) if it was possible to make a Flat White, our NZ style coffee. It was amazing how often this would get a very enthusiastic "конечно!" and they would take great care in making it, complete with NZ fern leaf pattern from froth. Even in places such as Kazan or Sochi, not only Moscow and SPB.
