He's always been funny with step ups, takes a million run-ups then steps up slowly without a problem 😂
@ Weirdo
Hi! I noticed that a few times now! Heading over to ur vid now...
Looks like he has it in his hips. They have them those joint chews that really do work pretty well.
I think instead of the stair to help Sherpa up onto his seat in the van he would be better off with one larger step stool instead all those narrow stair treads are hard to climb
We had a ramp to our old dog. It was easier for him than steps
@gullreefclub. Yeah, those tiny steps looked awkward for sherpa, the top couple of steps being quite unnecessary.
I shouted “oh no” when the steps collapsed and when he slipped in the water. Maybe try a ramp for the van. That’s what my Mom and I did for our Golden Retriever and she learned to walk up into our van. You’re a good Daddy for Sherpa and he loves you dearly and everyone can tell how much you love him. Please hug and kiss him for me. Love to you both from Tennessee USA. 🥰🐾
Sherpa may be getting on but he's still a puppy at heart. He's such a lovey boy. 💙🐺💙
I'll keep him that way too 😊
@@Sherpas_vanlife Try to use a ramp instead of steps. We used that to our old dog ♥️
Hope Sherpa is ok.
Try a ramp, Jamie, a ramp 😊
@@adriennegaston8219 that is good for old dogs. A ramp is beneficial to old residents and dogs and cats and people.
Jamie, I'm an Occupational Therapist, so I'm fairly used to adapting stairs for clients. You've probably already worked this out, but I think the stairs are too narrow for sherpa to use comfortably.
If you watch from around the 2:00 mark, you can see he can comfortably get his front paws onto the third step, but then, because of the distance between his front and back legs, he can't get his back legs onto the steps because they're too far away.
I'd go with maybe two or three steps, with the first the height of the second step on your folding steps, but reaching closer to midway on the couch that runs along the righthand of the van, and then a second step of about half the length of the first that's about as high as the third or forth step on your folding steps.
Also, if you make them out of wood, they won't slip around as much, which might make sherpa feel a bit more confident using them, and you can also add additional steps if he needs them.
Just my thoughts. I just hate seeing older animals struggling 😥
Oh my goodness. It’s hard to watch Sherpa age. He’s tough, though. I hope he’s alright.
Hes still young at heart 😊
Poor Sherpa. It's sad to see him struggling but, honestly, Jamie, you couldn't do more for him to make life easier. He's still enjoying himself and, so long as he's free from pain, he's ok. Thank you for caring for him as you do, bless him. He is SO loved by his UA-cam family. ❤️
Sweet comment. Jamie does care for Sherpa very well. And yes, the whole world loves Sherpa. Never thought it possible to love a dog so much that I’ve never met. His paw prints are on my heart. 🥰🐾
@@Debra.Justice Thank you. I had to say farewell to my beautiful, beloved husky, last June. He was 14 and I re-homed him aged 5. I was blessed to have him in my life for those 9 glorious years. I’m heartbroken but Sherpa makes me smile again. He’s such a character. Let’s hope we enjoy his company in many more videos. I send my best wishes to you. Be happy. 🌻
Yeah, Jamie is a great dad.
@@audreysmith834 I’m so sorry your baby has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. It’s heartbreaking I know. I lost my Golden Retriever 16 years ago and I still cry over her. But I definitely believe our pets are waiting for us in Heaven and we’ll join them one day. I often imagine my Sadie running and playing with Jesus and getting her ears rubbed. She loved that. I pray God comforts you and gives you strength. Sending love my friend from Tennessee USA. 🥰🐾
@@Debra.Justice Thank you for such sweet words. Sadie was lucky to have you for her Hoomum. Returning love from a small seaside town in the UK. 💝🐾🌈
I stopped breathing for a while there. Each time Sherpa climbs a step, his paws are under the next step, so that when he lifts each paw it catches the bottom of the step above. Ouch!! I just wanted to cuddle him. Hoping that soon, soon, soon both of you will be able to make each step wider from front to back. I am 80, and know what Sherpa goes through - he gets scared and cautious. But am sure both Jamie and Sherpa will solve this problem just as they solve so many in their life together. 💕 😢
I’m not sure but those steps may be too narrow and small for Sherpa…he’s a big boy! May just 2 wider steps would be better. That’s okay Sherpie, I know how it feels to be getting older! Love you handsome boy ❤️💙🐾🐕🐾
I agree, he is trying to pull with this front legs instead of pushing with his back legs, so 2 longer steps might be better and the short steep ones.
Maybe he'd do better with a ramp?
@@rocketraccoon1976 my 45 kg and almost 12 yrs old huge chesapeake bay retriever preferred the ramp, but even this took some incentives (treats) and rehearsals
He doesn't trust those steps poor boy. 😊💙💙
I think the steps are too narrow & steep for him! ❤
Man, if everyone took care of their animal family members as well as you, the world would be a much better place. 💯
Absolutely agree with your comment!!🐺👍💕
💯
Sherpa is the most beautiful puppy. He has touched so many people’s hearts. Old age is not much fun parts that never ached know ache . I know how you feel Sweetheart. I love you Sherpa and hate seeing you in pain. Big hug for you sweetheart Best wishes Jamie hope you are okay. Love to Sister Sarah from Australia 🇦🇺
Foot space not big enough for Sherpa
Less bigger steps so Sherpa has enough room for grip , side's to narrow ❤🙏💯🐕
Please don't make him go up those unstable steps inside the van. We all saw what happened when they collapsed. He knew it was a bad idea. He's much too precious to risk unstable settings. Love you, Sherpie! ❤❤❤
My dog is 15. It's those struggles with steps that are tough to watch.
Sherpa: "Extra stumbles equals extra biscuits...old timer math."🤪
He knew that thing was unstable but did for you anyway. 🥰
Yes, it is a struggle. No joke. I'm 61 now and still in very fit condition, but I'm beginning to feel time catching up to me.
Sherp, keep going. I know it's getting a little rough. Prayers from a fellow oldie in Kansas. 🙏✝️🙏
Gotta do things while you're able don't you 😊
Yes ! From a soon to be 66 in Kansas !!
Yes at 73 I have had to realize my days of wandering are over. I traveled all over the world and it was my absolute passion. Do everything while you are young..younger. My girl traveled with me on some long adventures. I went on a cruise with my son for my 73rd. Even that was much more of a struggle than I anticipated. I never regret one minute of my travels. That very deep sadness that my time has come and gone is really hard.😢
Yes, at 59 even the two steps up into my house are becoming an adventure. I haven't always been kind to my body. And if I go down it can be an ordeal getting up. I completely felt Sherpa's fear in the van. Such a nice old gentleman.
@Barbara Danley I turned 58 in February. We have 3 steps to get into the house, in this last year I have difficulty getting up those darn steps and if I have groceries I have to set them on the porch so I have my hands free to get up those 3 steps. When the weather gets a little warmer (here in Ohio) I plan on doing some walking everyday.
Hi precious Sherpa. Those stairs would be a challenge to most dogs. Younger or older. They are short to step on. I think they need to be elongated for more space to step on. So don’t be embarrassed Sherpa. You did good considering it was your first try. Love you guys and your adventures. Be well.
i'm surprised you don't use a ramp instead.
i was looking at the watering bowl... Sherpa *Slerpa* :D
We love your big ball of fluff!
Sherpa has refused ramps before.
Well Sherpa, as you are a Lord, I think it's high time your Dad started lifting you up and carrying you around 😉 👑
I love sherps no matter how old he is ❤❤… he’s a good boy!
Aww Sherps ❤ looks like those steps are just too narrow and steep for him! Hopefully can find a solution that works for him soon. Wonder if a fold up ramp would work or not enough run up in the van for it!
He was right not to trust those stairs! Clever Sherpa! ❤️😂
Sherpa, we are all getting old together and it's alright❤
It's not easy to get old. But you are doing good Sherp❤
Aww, sweet boy. Turning into a gentle old man.
A wise old pup 😊
The steps look a little narrow to me, which makes me think Sherpa's footing isn't sure. My dog has steps up to the bed; just two steps, but they are wide. Anyway, Sherpa, lots of love to you from everybody at our house: Annie, Louis and Mimi, and me!🙂🙂🙂
It makes me kind of mad at the manufacturer of those steps. Sherpie was right to be afraid of using them.
[[[Hugs to both of you!]]]
Poor Sherpa! I think only three wider steps would have pleased Sherpa more than five narrow ones. As we age, I know all too well, we don't get around like we once did. Keep on keeping on Sherpa!
I would probably be afraid of those steps too. Sherpa is doing very good for his age. As Always Thanks For Sharing❣️
😮Sherpa my sweet angel, are you ok? Sweet boy you simply missed judged that's all. Cuddles and kisses from NJ.
Aw hey 😊
This makes me so sad.😢 I know Sherpa is trying but I also know from aging myself and watching my 11 year old cat Midnight…it isn’t easy. Give Sherpa a hug from me and lots of extra love! 🙏❤️🤗
To be fair 11 isn’t that old for a cat they can live until they are 20 or older my cats are both teenagers but act like kittens still 😂
@@TASIAawful1 I know it’s not that old for them but my Siamese lived to 16 before her kidneys shut down. Then Samson our 16 year old cat was found to have larynx cancer. So, all that to say, I m a bit concerned for Midnight. And as far as Sherpa…I know husky’s are prone to hip dysplasia. Sorry, probably more than you wanted to know. lol
Sherpa needs a starlift. Poor babes, those stairs maybe too steep for him. Getting older is not for the faint of heart. God Bless you J for taking care of him
Ahhhh the elephant in the room…I’ve been thinking a lot about you and Sherp…getting old sucks but I know your both in good hands looking out for each other. Give him a hug I love that dog 👍
Goodness. He knew he wouldn’t make it. The steps are not giving him confidence. Trust him. I had to live on the first floor of my home because my pup no longer trusted being on the second floor and feared being alone. Pups give us so much joy. We do anything for them as they age. It’s hard to take our clues from them. Patience.
How much I love the ways with older dogs. Sweet as sweet can be.
Bless his heart, he just has to get used to the steps! No problem chasing treats for the old boy, however!
Haha no problem at all 😂
What Sherpa may be losing in speed, he makes up for in personality and attitude! He's still got some good years left in him.
Hydro then a stroll, he’ll be one tired pupper tonight ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh hon , new steps …. You can do it 😊
He'll still have energy to eat tho ha
I’m not a dog owner but a ramp seems easier than stairs; love you Sherpa…
I definitely sympathize, Sherpa. But what you lack in strength you more than make up for in courage and determination. ❤
Yep totally agree Laura 😊
Greetings from New York, Thanks for more of King Sherpa! It almost seems like there were to many steps inside Van for Him. But Sherps Dad knows best. Cheers!
It’s definitely sad for a pet owner when you start to notice the signs of old age in your companion.
What you need is a pull out drawer that can also be used as a step for sherpa but can still be used to store stuff under the sofa.
Least he has a good furdaddy who keeps up with and loves him like you do Jamie ❤
Aw thankyou
It was worth a try, but Sherpa has my deepest sympathy. I hate those kinds of narrow, short steps! I'm sure there's an old chihuahua somewhere who'd love 'em.
Aww, Sherpie, The hydrotherapy will help you. You are a sweetie.💙😍 Dad takes the best care of you. Bless Jamie & Sherpa.❤️💙
Maybe he'd prefer 3 wider steps rather than 5 narrow ones? Bless him 💚
Old or not he is still a baby at heart and we love him for that ❤❤❤
Yep I agree 😊
Don't look at the age of Sherpa's bones, look at the age of his heart and his heart is shiny young like Gold.
Sherpa aging like a fine wine. A very loud cheeky furry fine wine albeit. 😅❤😂 🐕
A box step half the height of the seat might work as long as Sherpa can get all 4 of his fluffy feet on it 😊
Jamie, my dog Villo also had a heck of a time with steps. He would go up, but was scared to go down. Try a ramp, it may be less frightening for Sherpa. As we have to adapt as we get older, so do our pups. Just keep him active like you do and Sherpa will stay in pure puppy mode for a very long time! Take care Jamie 🙏♥️ Hugs, love and belly rubs to Sherpa ❤
Sherpa Our bestest doggo ever!
Sherpa might be an old man nowadays (or at least getting there) but no matter how old he gets, he'll never stop being that happy, energetic, very vocal puppy! Sherps really is one of the luckiest dogs in the world living the life that he lives, and you can tell he doesn't take it for granted lol. You're a fantastic dog owner, Jamie.
He's still as cute as ever
I know how he feels 😩
He knew from the beginning that those steps were bad news. Hope you find another way to get him up in the bench. x
For Sherpa's hydrotherapy fund.. ❤
Aw you're amazing Steve thankyou 💙
At least he’s alright from the fall. He still runs and plays like a puppy even if he is a old boy :) he’s like David Attenborough keeps his childlike love of the world and is also very wise.
Edit: I want to clarify that I’m complimentary David Attenborough to, loving the earth with the excitement that you have when you were 6 and still doing so at 96 is awesome.
Well, he may be an older pup, but he is still sharp as a tack as far as I am concerned....he is a good & faithful pup & to me that is priceless...😊 Both people & pets tend to slow down a bit as we get older, but if we constantly take care of ourselves in a similar manner that Jaime takes care of Sherpa, then we all can continue to crack on & live our lives to the fullest...
Aww poor Sherpa. I usually don't make comments but I watch all the time. I felt so bad when the stairs kind of collapsed but he really tried.
He's a beautiful boy. I'm turning 69 and it's not easy. Thanks for the video. Sherpa deserved his treats.😊❤
He will get used to it in the end, fingers crossed. He may have a hard time climbing, but he is still young at heart. I love you Sherpa.
Poor Sherpa, it's not easy getting older. Everything doesn't work like it used to. Perhaps a straight flat ramp to just walk up would be easier. My 15 yr. old beagle has a little trouble with my house steps to. Lots of love and kisses to Sherpa!! 😊😊🐶🐶 🇺🇸 KY
My Lola is a big girl & needs fewer, wider steps to climb up. She has been cursed with bad rear leg ligaments most of her life. Jamie your love and devotion for Sherpa is so heartwarming! Sherpa ia a dream dog, just like my Lola! Thanks so for sharing him & your wanders.....caring for & loving him is a joyful journey!
Sherpa you are the most beautiful boy I have ever seen, and Jamie the way you care for your gorgeous beautiful boy is incredible ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love you both with all of my heart xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Poor Sherpa. He's getting old but he's still the same sweet angel!
The older we all get the hitches in our git alongs we aquire. Hugs to the fluffy guy and his hooman.
I was dreading this when I saw the title. Denial is not just a river in Egypt ( as the psych joke goes), but my boi is not getting older! Not when I see him like 0.10. He's still a pup and I am sticking with that story...
Still able to play...and look adorable doing so!
0.41-ouch.😥🐺💙 😘😘😘 kissing the ouchie better poor boi!
Also @0.42-5, Sherpa: "Don't you ask if I'm OK- I heard that laugh. 😠. Better gimme treats for emotional damages..."
1.11, aww 😥. I am emotional already (personal reasons), but I am tearing up with Sherpa's, "I don't want to", face.
Even though you are SuperPops. Don't be scared baby boi. You can do it! Yes @ 2.48. Well done! Extra treatsies!
Always get a chuckle when he just says "Throw"! OK, apart from a couple of times, the video was less painful than I thought. Lots of love, hugs and extra special kisses, and healing thoughts on the way to you. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Oh dear Sherpa, You are such a game sweetheart! I love your courage. Tell dad to try a ramp. Steps are too tricky to navigate! Bless your sweet heart!!! 💙💙💙💙🐾🐾
Aw, sweet Sherpa. Glad he has such a caring human.
Good old boy! As long as he is not having pain and is still hungry, all will be well!
Hi Jamie and sherpa please be careful sherpa it's pane full to watch him I love him 😂 please be gentle with him big 💋 from Australia
He might eat some of those shoes that help with the joints poor baby he’s so handsome he might be hurting. I would think I have a husky to.❤❤❤❤❤
Maybe you can get him one of those little ramps that go up but he can just walk up it
Was I the only one shouting encouragement to Sherpie and saying "good boy" when he managed it? He will soon get the hang of it. It is hard to watch the beautiful boy struggle but Jamie, you are such a caring dad for trying to make things easier for him, but it's so good to see him playing and finding treats xxxx
Love Sherpa have pe he stays young forever after all you r as young as u feel 🏴
I think the stairs might be too steep with small steps. I think a one level riser could be easier since there’s less effort to step up. (My cat lived to 22 years and I had stairs everywhere.) Say, half the height of the bench, with a bigger surface. That could make it more like getting into the mini.
He had a lot of energy after his swim. It must be good for him if it doesn’t make him tired. He looked really happy. ❤️🇨🇦🥰
I thought the same about too many small steps!
Agree but he doesn't heed anyones advice, plus the cbd oil would help .
I hate to see Sherpa going through that….. poor boy.
Such a brave boy, Sherpa you are the best of dogs.❤❤
Aww, bless his paws, he's showing his age now, I believe in human years he is 70 years old, those steps looked ,as Sherpa said, too high, I don't blame him, I would be the same as well, love that dog xxxxx
Go sherpa you can do anything he still a pup at heart love seeing him and your adventures.
Aw he definitely can 😊
It’s heart breaking to watch the furry babies struggle as they get older. My American Bully slowed down because of his hips till he passed. We did everything possible to make his life 1000s of times easier to the end, well loved and extremely spoiled.
Haha poor Sherpa and the collapsing stairs 🙈 he's like I told you they were dodgy 😒🙅🏼♀️ love how food motivated he is though, hopefully means he'll keep trying until he's a pro! ❤ Hope you're both well :)
This big boy is so BEAUTIFUL. And you are such a wonderful dad.
Keep on living a good long life Sherpa 🥰🥰🥰
Definitely will 😊
I know how Sherpa feels, steps that are too high and too narrow, especially when there are 36 of them to get downstairs to the outside 😒. Mind you, I don't get a treat at the end like Sherpa does....lucky boy 🐾.
We're all with you Sherp's! I'm an old lady and they've got me doing aqua fit too!! 😂
Sherpa says I don't need no stairs! Love you Sherpa!!😘😘
Bless him! His spirit is not going to let him give up! Being with your best friend as he gets older has both happy moments & times that just tug at your heartstrings. What’s important is you are with them. Just as we look to them to guide us, they just need to continue to look at us for the love & support shared.
I’m getting misty. Jamie- you care so deeply for Sherpa, you are a special person.
We have a senior dog and 3 other dogs as well, and each day we know that she will go to doggie heaven, but in the meantime we enjoy her company and I love her so much
❤❤❤❤awe so cute and the thought that he never will be around again 😢😢😢😢😢breaks my heartv
Jamie, I think these new steps are just too small for him 😬 the old ones have a big step, these are narrow and steep for him 🤨
Anyway, I'm glad he's fine with the hydrotherapy 😊 that's important for our old boy 💓💓💓💓
Sherpa is such a wonderful boy. We all get older. We move a bit slower as years pass♥️💜
Maybe he's a old boy but he's a very energetic and good old boy! 💙
I feel sorry for Sherpa struggling Jamie, I hope he’s ok I’d have helped him if I was with you also I had a very kind caring thought while watching the video too if you and Sherpa ever come to visit me one day, we can look after Sherpa together 😁
We definitely need to Peter 😊
Cherish EVERY PRECIOUS moment with him, as they are gone too fast! LOVE Sherpa and his antics!🐶
I feel Sherpa's pain. I needed a dose of Sherpa today. I had my Key dose earlier today. You boys have a great day! 🐺💛
Totally agree 🙏
Awe Sherpa. Hi Jamie. What if you have fewer steps and each one either with a larger step or wider? Or possibly a wide ramp? I think that's all it is. He is so smart. Hugs to you Sherpa.
Despite the dislike for his new steps he's still got a spring in his step 😌😇
