Personally, Pastor Duane, people being quite sometimes means more, than when they may be laughing. I am listening to this live stream over and over, because of all the teachings. I don't wont to miss anything. Thank you for listening and shearing.
That "nugget" from Pastor Duane about asking for feedback was absolutely brilliant! Not always easy to do if you're feeling sensitive (and that's been my problem at times), but really important to bring clarity in a conversation. I think the other person begins to realize you really want to hear and understand them, and that takes defensiveness down. I am not married, but for 7+ years, my brother has lived with me due to some chemical imbalance and a variety of issues (including being on the spectrum) that make it impossible for him to live alone right now. We butted heads constantly over this time because our perspectives are radically different on almost everything. This has been a process of me learning to humble myself and trust God to help me and my brother to communicate with kindness and in a clear way. I love my brother very much and he loves me. But this was an impossible situation to deal with on my own-I learned how to walk with God in ALL aspects. Truly humbling myself to God and the way He wants me to act, what to say, and just asking Him to flow and help us communicate. Help us not offend one another. Help us heal. Help love come through. I can't tell you how vitally important it is to have GOD at the center of any relationship you care about. I like what Creflo Dollar has been preaching lately..."I depend on God" in ALL things. God is faithful. He isn't trying to make you miserable or ask you to give up who you are or recede into the background like wallpaper to have peace. He makes love flourish. He shows how to deepen a relationship in a way you could never know how to do. He will work in that other person (and you)-give Him time and give Him space to do it His way and don't give God advice (like I often found myself doing). Trust Him that He knows what you and the other person needs. Be committed to doing what God instructs-because it really will be for your best and the other person's best too-and know He will provide what you need to do it. Be committed to loving the other person and ask God to help you do it when you don't feel like loving them. Anyway, I appreciated Duane's message and I think that is so helpful to all of us!
Thank you for sharing, I'm listening. We're praying for you and your brother. If you would like personal prayer, we welcome you to give us a call anytime at +1(719) 635-1111. Be blessed in the Lord this week! - Charis Team
