Joseph may not have had a choice, but he Loved Mary so much. He was the perfect man to be Jesus earthly Father.
Actually, he had a choice. He still can divorce Mary because of the Jew's law. And Joseph is a honorable man who wants to obey and do everything right according of Moses's laws. But, he also loves God more. That's why when the angel came to his dream and suggested him not to be afraid taking Mary as his wife, and because of her baby coming from Holy Spirit; he finally made a decision and won't hesitate to do what God's really want.
Yes and being the CREATOR HE made HIS parents!
I love the way The Chosen decided to honor Joseph in his sacrifice as well. Having Mary be so thankful for the way he chose to protect and love her. Completely made me weep. They're tenderness and compassion towards one another is incredible. God knew what he was doing choosing these 2 special and ordinary people. ❤️❤️❤️

This was my favorite scene. I got choked up at Mary’s gratitude and Joseph’s humility. She was blessed to have a wonderful man to take care of her.

Mary is Theotokos. Mother of God, and Joseph was a protector not a literal husband, she remained virgin.

This scene was soooo special! The relationship between Mary and Joseph is perfectly fitting for the parents of Jesus. Their love is pure and sweet. Loved every minute of this amazing episode. Exactly. They were in on the biggest secret in the history of the world: the coming of the Messiah, who was revealed to them first as “the Son of the Most High”. I too would think that this brought them together in a way that most couples of the time were not (I say “most” because I can say with almost certainty that Zechariah loved Elizabeth, or else he wouldn’t have kept her as long as he did given that they weren’t having kids until John was born)

This scene brought such clarity to the challenges faced by both Mary and Joseph but then foreshadowed the benefits of simple obedience. Mercy!
This is the most important part, the message of Christs birth. The music is but worship to the one who came. I love how well this is written. Praise God. A blessed Christmas.
I went to see the movie 'The Chosen' last night. I have to say I would have love to have seen the music concert at the end of the short film instead of the beginning. I have to be honest, the music lasted too long and I keep my radio on KLove, a big fan of all of those who performed. I think the music lasted 70mins. Don't get me wrong, The short film was emotional and so inspiring but I really thought the music went on too long. I am honest. I think the film could have been longer, or maybe I longed for more JESUS time. The characters are so well done and I love the story of our Lord's birth.
Proclaiming the truth about his real Hebrew Name would have been so important! "She will give birth to a son, and you shall call his name Yahushua (= Yahweh saves) ki hu- (= for he > Yahweh) yoshia (= he will save) his people from their sins."(MatiitYah 1,21)
"I am Yahweh and beside me there is no Moshia = Savior! "(YeshaYah 43,11)
"Thus says Yahweh the King of Israel and his Redeemer, Yahweh Tzebaot: “I am the first and I am the last; and besides me there is no El (god)."(YeshaYah 44,6)
Mashiach the Son of Yahweh himself said: "I have come in My Father’s Name..."(Yochanan 5,43)
The Father Yahweh gave his son a Hebrew Name and even revealed his sons Name in the Torah, but not this false Greek Name Iesou (modern Jesus)!
Before Mashiach left he also said: "Behold, your house is left unto you! For I tell you that you will not see Me again until you will say: Baruk ha Ba be Shem Yahweh = ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name Yahweh."(MatitYah 23,38-39)

This type of scene is all but unheard of in today's movies. It's nearly 5 full minutes of dialogue without the camera cutting. Beautifully done!
My home has been on Covid lockdown since 11/30 as it is going through every member of the family. Point is, I can’t get to the theater for the Christmas special until around the 12th. If I may be so bold as to ask my “Chosen Family “ to pray for healing. God bless you all!!

It is hard to imagine Bible stories. I am thankful for the series that helps us really get a feel into the lives of those during those times. The Chosen brings them to life. The feelings, the joys, difficulties and hardships about real people. It is a witness as to how we can respond in this life here and now. I absolutely ADORE their scene together!!! Joseph choosing to be humble and choosing to love and protect Mary even after everything shows how awesome of a husband he truly is to her. It is beautiful to see how Joseph could have experienced this...to connect to some of what may have been going on in his emotions. He disappears from the storyline so very quickly, but his role as Yeshua's/ Jesus' earthly father was really important.

This scene so tenderly models the sharing of thoughts, feelings, encouragement...and is so relevant for us now. They chose to remain united in trusting God when they didn't fully understand. They acted on faith with the promises they heard. When you see this Christmas Special, the story, the music will calm your troubled heart.

@@ellybean5868 there are several musicians and dialogues from some of the actors, this is over an hour. The movie is short and different than The Shepherd yet the same. I don’t want to give too much away but I enjoyed it very much. 🤗

My wife and I saw saw this in theaters and it did NOT disappoint! I love almost everything about The Chosen and it is helping me get better insight into what it could have been like in those precious years. We just came from the theater in Texarkana AR. It was a wonderful special!! I love the way you show things I have never thought about! Ex like when Joseph had never seen Mary intimately but he had to help her deliver the baby. And then to see Mary thinking about it all later in years! Surely the Holy Spirit inspired this program and all it has turned into. He wanted all to know!!!!! ♥️

Joseph was a good, righteous man. I wish we knew more of him.
I highly recommend Father Calloway’s Consecration to Saint Joseph if you want to learn more.
And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Mary responded, "No! I'm am a sinner like everyone else"... OH WAIT! THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
Human...for the first time you really see how human Mary and Joseph are. The same thoughts & worries we would have. We know God is with us and we pray for God's will and yet, it seems human nature to still worry or be concerned (like Joseph is in where Mary will lay). God doesn't just go poof here's what you need exactly how you need it, He gives us the opportunities or tools to have what we need.
Like Father Mike Schmitz says, a priest told him when he prays asking to have more patience, God gives him opportunity to practice having patience. God doesn't go poof here's patience. For Mary and Joseph, I would imagine it was the same for their struggles.

I saw this on Wednesday in Willoughby, OH. Maybe 50 people in the audience, small theater. It was so well done! Beautiful top quality production. Musical performances and the audio quality was superb. This enactment of the journey and birth was so spiritually clear, considering Joseph's position and faith, content and confident in the Angel's message. Both he and Mary had been told "Do not fear" and they reminded each other of that as they searched for a place to sleep and Joseph was without help to deliver the Baby. And Mary recalled a special part of the event 45 years later. Really emotional presentation, encouraging.
It must give you all such joy to give this gift to so many. Thank you.

I wish we could have seen more of Mary's backstory. I realize that's really controversial territory to dabble with, but The Chosen usually does such a fantastic job. It would be wonderful see their depiction of what Mary's life before the conception might have been like, what her personality might have been like, how her family would have reacted to the news of her pregnancy, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if that shows up in future seasons.
You can read the book "poem of the man-god" from mary valtorta.. She had many visions about marys life and jesus childhood. Its so beautiful

I loved it! I went with my best friend and the theater was empty, except for us. We were overwhelmed with tears and praise the whole time! It was the best experience! Is it just me or has anyone noticed that this is essentially a 5 minute long take?? Other than a brief wide shot inserted towards the end, the entire conversation is completely uninterrupted. It may not have the technical sophistication or theatricality of Steven Spielberg, Alfonso Cuaron, or Sam Mendes' long takes, but it must have been a really challenging shot for the actors and the crew to get right. The fact that it is a long take really makes this conversation feel so spontaneous and natural.

Good timing and great clip. As just been on your site for update and finished watching your interview with Jonathan Roumie on playing Jesus then this pops up. So this must have just been posted as I started the interview. Year of St Joseph about to end on 8th Dec. This Christmas episode will be really great in showing the sacrifices that St Joseph and Mary made to raise and teach Jesus our God. 🙏
The power and weight of the last part of your post! “Though He was in the form of God, Je did not deem equality with God something to be grasped at. Rather He emptied Himself, taking the firm of a servant…”. Joseph and Mary teaching Jesus our God. That is amazing, yet God deemed it so.

Joseph had to be one of the best gentlemen ever trusted by God, with God, FOR God!
I'm an Orthodox Christian and while I love this series, I am struck by Joseph's young age. The earliest writings tell us he was an old man, a widower with adult children.
I love this!!! Makes them real people with real thoughts. Praise God for His most perfect Gift in Jesus!!!

This episode made me cry. There’s moments in each of episode but this one. Maybe because I too am a grieving mom and relate in how she’s looking back, the saved keepsakes, and the long journey forward.
Merry Christmas, those days by walking long distance in the end there was Joy and Happiness.
Whoever wrote the monologues for The Christmas Special did such a thoughtful, wonderful job. I have some new favorite songs, too, like Gratitude by Brandon Lake. And the outro video of O Come O Come Emmanuel was unadulterated fun. Thanks, team, for giving us this Christmas gift! God bless.

Don't know if it's been stated already but I really enjoyed how the musicians, especially the Bonner family where dressed in white and walking around the set of the Chosen Christmas Special movie. It made me think of what it will be like in heaven when we are walking around the city praising God!!!

These scenes are wonderful....and so are all the comments I am reading from people on this video. Hearing my fellow sisters and brothers in Christ talk about how they are move by the presence of God in their life is wonderful to read.
Love how we are finally giving St Joseph the recognition he deserves. For much of the Church’s history he has been ignored.
Also they showed him as a young man instead of the usual old man look. Someone beautifully said once “old men don’t walk to Egypt”. Pretty much saying Joseph was more than likely a young man.
I like this portrayal, and the casting department did an awesome job. I feel like Joseph always gets left out, not much is ever said about him. Of all the Joseph's I've seen over the years, this actor is my favorite.
