Naples is my all time favourite city. It has changed so much over the past ten years…..I remember I used to wish more people would see it for the wonderful city that it is, instead of all the bad things that the media talked about ….and now they are and I’m so proud of it 💙 I’m glad you had a such a good time xx
The stands where you stopped in Vomero Hill are not from Naples there was a Chocolate Festival, so there is not traditional naples' street food. You must try next time the "crispy sfogliatella" from Attanasio, more traditional than the soft one. The stick that you tried in the pastry shop is named "struffoli" typical during christmas and it is fried dough covered with honey The real neapolitan name of "Arancino" is "palla di riso" red or white, and it is different from sicilian one. In Naples we love Sicilian Cannoli also becouse one time we were a unified nation before the italian unification. There are lot and lot of typical street food in Naples, but also lot of restaurants, pizzerias to try (traditional or innovative), but you have to choice well becouse some of that are a must to try ;) Thanks for the video.
@@mikeandlaney i want to add that you can find the struffoli only during the christmas season , it was very unusual the way they were presented on a stick , i think it was a touristy idea
We could also say that those who go to Naples and do not taste the famous Sfogliatella and Babà (in addition to the famous Neapolitan pizza of course !) practically feel as if they have never been to Napoli. 😉
Arguably rumor is the best cannoli is in Sicily in a little village called "Piana degli Albanesi" where an Arbereshe or Albanian community lives there since their ancestors escaped the Ottoman occupation in the 1500's. Did you guys make it to the restaurant where the first pizza was created?
Oh wow!!! We’ve got to put that on our places to go! I don’t think that we went to the place where the first pizza was created but we did go to the place where margarita pizza was invented! It was delicious 🤤
I think that's it. You've gone to the right place because that's where the first modern times pizza was invented which was to honor queen Margherita of Italy with mozzarella, tomatoes and basil leaves symbolizing Italian flag colors although it seems pizza had been discovered long before that. @@mikeandlaney
@@mikeandlaney Obviously, if they are made well, even outside Sicily they are a delight ! 😋 I was just saying this to specify that cannoli are not really typical of Neapolitan pastry. Typical Neapolitan pastries are, for example, the famous "Sfogliatelle" and "Baba," along with other specialties, of course. I, as an Italian, live here in Germany and I'm precisely from the Naples area, and what I miss most here in Germany is just a nice typical Neapolitan pastry. 🤗 Ciao ! 👋

Naples without "sfogliatella" and "babà" is not Naples 😉
We were so plump and full by the end of this day lol!! Another reason for us to come back! Love Naples and the food 🤤 ❤️
@@mikeandlaney 🤣🤣🤣 next time! Bye from Turin 👏

11:38. I cannoli comunque sono più una specialità siciliana.
Good to know - it was delicious either way 😂💪

We do too!!
Need to be careful you know them carbs and sweets, don’t wanna catch the diabetes. Looks delicious, the last one was definitely police food!!!!
You’re right!
In italy we do not use that much sugar. Even cakes are actually healthy if you do not exaggerate in quantities.
