Congrats! And shot out to the man who picked up your bag at the end! When I drop stuff at the end of a long run, I always evaluate if I really need it, LOL.
Can't bend down for the bag brought tears to my eyes and good laugh 😂😂😂. How many times have we been there? Especially for us older runners? Random act of kindness and video save goes out to that guy 👏. Good on you Matt for the 128th!
🤣 That whole dropping the bag debacle was a good reminder of the damage done during the race. I was actually feeling pretty good, until I had to bend my legs! 🤣 Ahh! The kindness of strangers is refreshing!!
Again, awesome race, Matt. My favorite part was actually seeing that you, too, find it hard to bend down to pick up something from the ground after running 26.2 miles. You're always so positive and cheery that I'm tempted to think you're not hurting the way I am in a marathon. Thank you for letting us see that little tiny moment of human weakness at the end - even acknowledging the need for help from someone else.
Thank you, Joseph! I have to say that I was feeling pretty good after the race. Much better than the previous year! It was quite a shock when I dropped the bag and went to retrieve it and found it was definitely a no-go! 🤣.
Matt, watching that video made me smile. Congratulations my friend. I was in a dark place until last week and I went for my first run today (after 6 months) because of this video. I'm reminded of why running is important and the purpose it gives me in life. Thank you.
Thanks so much, James! This is really good to hear, but not as good as hearing you got out for a run after 6 months! This is a big deal! Well done to you! I know how difficult it is to get back into it after some time off! Keep it up, my man!
Congrats on a successful Boston marathon. You are a true multi-tasking marathoner (filming, talking on cell phone, cheering on other runners), yet managed to race so effortlessly! I am still working on getting a BQ. It seems anlmost impossible as they keep making it harder year after year.
Thanks, Catherine! The real challenge is making the run seem effortless (or at least to make it look easier than I feel). Boston is a tricky race to get into, especially now the qualifying times have dropped. Have you ever run with a charity? Would you consider it? How about the tour companies that offer race bibs with their packages? It's very expensive, but it's a guaranteed way to get in. Well, they also sell out pretty fast! 🤷🏻♂
@@its_Matt_B_Matt - You are way too humble. I don't think everyone has the talent of "looking" so cheery & easy the entire 26.2!!!! Congrats on your race. Loved the video and how you obviously enjoyed it, tears not necessary. Was an amazing experience. I struggled in Newton and the sun/heat got to me more than I anticipated. Can’t wait to come back and apply lessons (hopefully) learned.
Thanks, Doug! Big congrats to you too! The heat mixed with the hills is a recipe for disaster! Yes, you definitely need to go back and run it in more favorable conditions!
Great race Matt! 👊🏻 And great video. It’s nice to view this experience through a runner’s lens for those of us who haven’t yet had the privilege to run Boston!
Congratulations!!! You killed it, especially with that heat! I'd really wanted to be there, it would have made a much nicer day than last year! Fantastic video, I need to go back and catch the prerace vids now! And yes, Smokey and the Bandit rocks!! 😂😂
When I ran, one start, sleet and cold rain. Finish line broke down, but 30 days later I received my official time and it jived with my watch time. One time, the gun start across the board. Once through the finish, got my bag, and jumped into a porta pottie to change into dry clothes and then a manager at Boston Seafood Fresh (I think that was the place) bought my after race meal. Thank you Danny!
Congratulations on incredible finish on a very hot day Matt!! Long time follower, first time to leave comment. When I was a teenager, a friend of mine was night manager of a theater and we'd go out to a diner after his shift. I usually got there a few minutes early and sometimes went in to watch the end of the film while he closed down the concessions, so I saw the last 10 minutes of Smokey and the Bandit literally dozens of times. Great meeting you, Paul, and thank you! 3:09 is a fantastic time, and totally expected if you were in +/- 3 hour shape. How are your legs holding up? I'm planning to go out for a few easy miles today.
Congratulations!! I have no idea how you film, talk, interview and make phone calls while running a marathon. I was kind of expecting you to do your taxes or something during the run. 😉
Doing my taxes could make for fun video (😂) but the Boston Marathon usually falls after tax day (or on tax day like this year), so I may be cutting it a little close! Thanks for watching and for the congrats!

Still, there's nothing like one on a good road on a nice day; even MGs and Triumphs, which are less exotic and still cranky but the parts to fix them are way cheaper and a lot easier to find.
Running the bases :) - I volunteer in Hopkinton. People leave the village SPRINTING. It’s 3/4 of a mile walk to the start
Runners gonna run!🤣
Excellent work, Matt! I saw you come through Coolidge Corner at around mile 23 -- you looked steady and strong!
Cheers, Matt! It is outstandingly kind of you to say I looked steady and strong at that stage of the race! 😄
Great job, congrats!!
Thanks a lot! 🙌
I know I texted you earlier on another video ( one before this one ). However, BIG CONGRATULATIONS Matt !! Awesome job, and it looked like you had fun the entire way!! Also, a great time 3:20 ! I’d say you had a super weekend and marathon! My ideal kind of weekend.
Thanks again, Mike! It was my ideal kind of weekend too! Great minds....

Cheers, Jorge!! 💫
Well done! 🎉🎊
Thanks, Sarah!🙌🏽
Really fantastic!
🤩 Thanks for watching!
Epic day bro. So epic. We rocked and had a blast!!🎉
It really was an epic day! HUGE congrats on your 2:49:07! You slayed that course!
It was good seeing you in the first kilometer. I was the guy who said I was trying to run a sub3 in the pink singlet! The heat got to me and I ran a 309. It was still a great day to be on the Boston course!! Great racing and video Matt!!🎉👏
Great meeting you, Paul, and thank you! 3:09 is a fantastic time, and totally expected if you were in +/- 3 hour shape.
How are your legs holding up? I'm planning to go out for a few easy miles today.
Thank you! I'm definitely not running this week. I pushed to get that 3:09 😋 My quads are still wrecked!
Thanks for sharing .👏🏼👏🏼
Cheers, Eric! 🙌🏽
Fantastic run 🎉 How did you like the ms edge paris?
The shoes performed very well! They’re definitely a top notch marathon racer!
@@its_Matt_B_ I have a pair on pre-order from our favorite store.
Great job!
Thanks so much! It was a fun day!
Watching this again after reading about the upcoming removal. That sucks, sorry thats happening to you Matt (and others) yikes. Great video nonetheless my friend.
Check out my latest UA-cam short. There has been a happy turn of events!👊🏽
Great one!
Cheers, Ron!
Awesome. Congratulations
Cheers, Dan!🙌🏽
@@its_Matt_B_ Boston has been a dream of mine for a long time. I'm starting to get closer to qualifying. Right now my qualifying time is 3 hours 25 minutes. I'm hoping to run Grandma's Marathon and under 3:30 and then BQ in Berlin this fall.
@@copperdan7667 Sounds like a good plan! You've got this!
Congrats🎉
🙌🏽 Thanks a lot!
Well done Matt, i was up in CT visiting Fam and i can attest even for this FL boy that sun was hot i went for a trot after lunch and whew it was toasty on me
Thanks, Steve! It really was warm! I think it goes to show that it’s just never ideal to run in the heat, no matter how much we do it!
@@its_Matt_B_ well in summer we usually or at least i plan to finish any long run about 30min after sunrise or else ill bake in the streets
Well done mate
Cheers, Elisha!🙌🏽
Hahaha I new I’d get it right at some point! Nicely done Matt
Cheers, Ryan! 🙌🏽
Congrats!!!! Came here after the Serious Runner reposted the notification that you received about the future video removal. Wondering what’s the reason why these types of videos are not allowed to be in UA-cam. I think they’re inspirational, but for some reason they keep taking them down🤷🏽♀️
Thanks for coming over to check it out! I’m learning more and could have a resolution soon, but it likely has to do with me having this video monetized and posting my affiliate links in the show notes section. I hope to hear from the B.A.A. on Monday to sort this out!
Crowds looked more in control well behind the barriers compared to New York
Yes, they definitely were!
I'll be back next year.
Nice! See you there! 🙌🏽
@@its_Matt_B_ Absolutely 👍
Congratulations Matt! How did you not get busted shooting video on the course by the BAA police?
I don't know, but there were so many people taking video that it probably came down to safety in numbers! 🤣
Looks like the BAA cracking down on UA-camrs. I bet you’re not the only one.
@@Joe_Souza No other UA-camrs have reached out yet (except Steven Gnoza), so we’ll see if anyone else’s video gets taken down.
Amazing! I got tired just watching you.
🤣 This was a long video. Put your feet up and relax!
What shoe did you wear?
I was wearing the ASICS MetaSpeed Edge Paris! It worked great!
🎉👏🏻🌟☺️. From 🇨🇦
Cheers, Christine!! ✌🏽
