I lived in the San Fernando Valley and had about 10 or more big sunflowers in my garden. Every morning, green parrots would come to my garden and eat the sunflower seeds. My son and I would sit in the backyard and listen them while they ate the sunflower seeds. They were beautiful that was the best part of our day.
WTF is wrong with people?? I called my neighbor out the other day because he was shooting at the family of crows that nest in the tree behind my house. He shot at a youngster that was learning how to fly. I told him he was a coward and mentally weak. He doesn’t make eye contact with me anymore, but he also doesn’t shoot at my murder of crows anymore.
Interesting comment but I totally agree with you. I've studied serial killers and many of them have histories of killing or torturing animals before they moved on to humans.
When we started hearing about parrots getting shot some couple months ago, I was thinking it had to be a homeowner shooting out a window. But now that this is happening all around the area, SGV, I guess that theory is out the window.. The guy, or group of guys, are mobile. There are cameras everywhere now. Tons of houses and cars have cameras. There HAS to be a footage of them in action... Better get caught. Animal cruelty is a heinous act.
We need to push for way more serious laws for animal abuse. The laws in the US are way outdated. If this sicko is got it would be lucky if he/she gets probation.
This is crazy. These birds are endangered in their native countries and found refuge here. They are not part of the Migratory Bird Act, which would put them on the protected list. I hope they change the law and add these to the list soon.
@@jesusgarcia-hk5jx Yes, I've heard of that, and many were also escaped pets. There are of these Amazon parrots (red-headed and lilac-crowned) here than there are in Mexico. I think they should thrive here. It would be cool to see more parrots free flying here in southern California.
These birds were all over Highland Park and Eagle Rock when I was growing up. My dad was a roofer and rescuedude a bunch of eggs from a roof at the school. We put them in incubators and they hatch. My mother worked for a wildlife sanctuary, so she knew what to do.
These beautiful green parrots 💚🐦deserve to be living free, and in the wild,🌴🌳🌱🌸🏞️🌎 not to be in cages to die. And so I'm asking you please 😢🙏 "LET THE BIRDS FLY FREE IN THE WILD"!
I can tell you why someone is doing it. They are noisy as hell and if you park under a tree they decide to land in they devastate your car. That being said, they don’t deserve to be tortured to death. That’s just sick. They are one of the few things I miss about living in Pasadena.
i saw a whole flock of these birds in the sky back in the 90s in the San Gabriel Valley. I always thought someone was importing them illegally because they are not native to the area and they somehow got loose. So now these birds are in that area.
Born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley Actually lived in Arcadia for awhile and am familiar with the parrots...they belong there...crows in my opinion are more noisy and rude
Man they're annoying as hell sometimes I wish I was in the Midwest again because the birds aren't annoying as the crows and the parrots are in LA but this is absolutely disgusting This is sick
Wow, such a headscratcher. I wonder who would do this? We have an influx of illegal immigrants from central/south American countries where people catch wild birds for sale all the time. Now we have wild birds being captured? The last video I saw from weeks ago was a witness filming a man throwing nets between trees and catching them in a group like he's done this all his life. He looked a lot like the people we see coming illegally across the border. But oh no, it couldn't be true because our state's leaders told us we need to be more compassionate and be a "sanctuary state". You voted for this. Stop blaming the orange man. You voted for this, and you got it.
These birds would hang out in the trees next to my house a couple months back. They are very beautiful but also very noisy so I imagine that may be the motive for someone to harm them. Inexcusable behavior and I hope they are caught.
The animal cruelty laws in the US are totally outdated. Abusers have no fear of getting got. Many serious cases get nothing but a year probation. Whoever is doi g this is severely disturbed and is doing other things, too. Need to treat it like they are harming kids, maybe 10 years in prison and $50,000 fine will start getting some results, or at least get them away from animals.
I remember this newscaster, the old guy. Why hasn't he retired? How old is he...eighty? Regarding the birds, some guy's got it out for them, unfortunately. I hate this sort of unnecessary cruelty. These parrots are just being parrots, and how can anyone blame them when their human owners unthinkingly release them out in the wild to fend for themselves? A parrot has to do what a parrot has to do under these circumstances. Hey, parrot murderer: Leave these poor guys alone!
That's messed up. They aren't just killing the birds they are going out of their way to make them suffer as much as possible. Dealing with a particularly disturbed individual.
I have stayed at my aunt's house in Monrovia,Ca. Her backyard had a lot of wild parrots and they did make a lot of noise and drops were everywhere in her backyard. They are wild birds, people don't need to kill them, just chase them away.
what is wrong with people, these beautiful parrots come to my place at least twice a year and they all hangout on our front lawn where there is two big trees that they love. I never bother them and enjoy their presense as they are so beautiful to watch. They are only here for an hour or so before they leave.
They like the trees with the orange weird looking things on them, I don't know if they are fruits or vegetables, but I don't think people can eat them.
They’re cool and beautiful birds but I also wonder if the vast growing population here has any effect into the ecosystem and the native wildlife? Has any biologist had any study on this?

And why I have a couple areas to have sunflowers.

They're an invasive species. What?
Go do something instead of crying on the internet then.
Cats are an invasive species too...

@@fallenafterling4128 Yes, and we have to deal with that like dogs. The difference is that dogs and cats don't harm the ecosystem like these birds do.

This saddens me to no end 😓
You mean bird brain. They are an invasive species, no different than termites.
Do you eat chicken? If so, you're not a bird lover.
Theres still no reason to abuse and torture them. Thats unspeakable, just evil.
There plenty of them in Orange County recently saw huge flock coming by (even took a short video)
