Amazing Ted talk, quite probably the one i am the most related to. As a recovering perfectionist i love that this topic is treated here because of the great exposure this talks offer. Many people have this illness and still don´t know or don´t want to realize that what they are feeling is a mental condition that only damages your health. Perfectionism is like a parasite that sticks into your mind telling you that the only way to be the best of yourself is by convincing you that, when you ¨fail¨, it´s beacause you are not good enough, meanwhile the parasite nourishes from these negative thoughts and keeps growing bigger and bigger.

the hobbies we love the most since childhood can sometimes tear us down the most in the name of perfectionism and maintaining that place as your top level. As a musician and as a person, I’ve learned that nothing will go your way. It’s frustrating, but it’s something we got to accept. Playing at a high level will usually not generate a huge fan base, because fans are not always the greatest stepping stone, nor are they the greatest critics in your life, and their greatest reason for their admiration may not necessarily have anything to do with your craft at all. My mother told me that there are a lot of them who became famous where they were never really intended. The Bay City Rollers were just an average rock band from the 70s yet they were cute enough to draw in millions sof girls, yet not too many people like or even heard from of the complex radical innovations of the United States of America or The Silver Apples or Tom Dissevelt,,yet future artists were influenced by them without even realizing it. Fame and adulation comes out of pure random, not your ability. Heck! it could even happen by pure accident. This is proof that you don’t need to be the best in the world to be successful, or be famous to be influential to live an awesome life. Life is truly a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get. That Forrest Gump statement stuck with me and now I am focusing more on originality and writing than perfecting the most difficult prewritten works there is.

As a young athlete striving for top performance this must have been challenging and so many people decide to quit so if I had the opportunity I would have liked to ask her why have she continued with training for gymnastics if she was stimulated by it and didn't bring her joy.
