Been following Earthships for many years now. It's good to see the continued evolution of the ideas.
The Reno Blood Drive by the Casinos had the nerve to interupt my Show right when Mike was talking about saving water in the house.😮

Ya' know ... every time I view one of these Earthship videos, I am reminded once again the "GENIUS" of what is Michael Reynolds. These concepts are now so tried and true and so well tested over many decades that one has to wonder if the Powers-that-be are ever going to clue in. These concepts are now axioms. They simply WORK. What a legacy, Michael. The World is a much better place having had the likes of Mr. Michael Reynolds. Kudos to You, Sir. Well done indeed. You are an inspiration to all thinking, sentient beings. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.
The "powers that be" have no interest in losing any control. And since people don't understand #ControlledOpposition, the masses keep fighting against themselves while giving up their power to the very people who enslave them.
@@dustinabcSo true. The "powers" that SHOULDN'T BE wouldn't have power over ANYONE if WE didn't give it to them by default, and there's only one way to take it back: one earthship, one intentional community, one permaculture farm, one mutually-reliant relationship, one alternative economic choice, one sustainable partnership with our planet, and one ethically-motivated decision to NOT FEED PARASITES, at a time, everywhere and always. Here is the future, served up on a platter of dirt and junk- seize the day, and a sledgehammer, and make it better. Thank you Michael Reynolds, there will be one more coming soon to learn your methods and put them into practice in Tennessee.
"Don't Tread On ANYONE" 🏴
Got silver shield? Got goldbacks? #goldenstatemint@don-eb3fj
The day I saw an earthship I knew my search was done. Still dream of living in one.
You're looking good Mike Reynolds! I'm glad to see you're doing well. ❤
Magnificent. I have been following Earthships since I was a teenager in a library and saw pictures of one in a book. In 2011 I had the joy of attending a theory and practical Earthship course in Brighton, England. Michael and team you are legends. Kia ora from New Zealand.
WE'RE NOT WORTHY! WE'RE NOT WORTHY! 💥😍🙏❤ thank you Michael Reynolds - I pray that I may meet you soon! 😊
Hey Michael, big fan of your work. I think you can get cost & labor hours way down by using a belt lift like miners do to trolley the dirt up to where you need it. That way the guy up top filling the tires only has to move the belt lift over to the next tire. It would be way quicker IMO and way cheaper, way easier. To make this really a viable solution we'd need to brainstorm a way to get filling those tires cheaper & quicker. That's your last real stumbling block. You're a true innovative & creative NM pioneer sir! You got this!
The stone work and the sitting table area is beautiful!! I also love the built in closet with bed!! I can not wait to have this kind of space to organize my life!! Hello from Colorado 👋🏼🔌🚗💜
Michael Reynolds intelligent, courageous, artist, and a great person who did one of the best things ever on earth; not the only person to do something great, but one of them!
Wonderful! I took a weekend seminar from you some decades ago. I enjoy seeing how your genius continues and seems to have flourished in improving and expanding your work. The house is beautiful We are lucky to have you. Thanks!
glad to see the Legend is doing well ;) you're an inspiration Michael.
Love to see how the 'U' concept works and how everything is so accessible. I still have 'Garbage Warrior' on my shelf and watch it now and again for inspiration. Love your brain Michael !
This is amazing Michael! I have been following your work for over a decade.
Never give up, never stop being free!
I can see myself living in a beautiful earth ship😊
The lady pointing out the features of the home did an amazing job. A little over the top, but still very professional. She should be the next "letter selector lady" on the game show Wheel Of Fortune 💯
Or the price is right. Definitely over the top, which became entertaining in and of itself.
Michael! Im glad to see you are well I was worried! Wish you long nights and pleasent evenings friend
i wish the gov - world would catch up to Michael reynolds system of living!
No way they wouldn't make any $$
🤩Very cool to see the continuing evolution of Earthships. Many thanks for sharing this -- and for this amazing technology.
Yes! so glad there are more tour videos! please keep it up!
It's a work of art. And so much more, well done. 👍
I wish I could find someone who is interested in earthships. Every time I watch these videos I want to build one. If only it wasn't so expensive here in Texas with the cost of permits and land.
Beautiful Earthship as always... thanks for the tour!
So cool, love the design…🎉.
I like it, have any designs been done for utilizing vertical space for your growing areas? I design vertical hydroponics systems and living walls that produce massive yields and look amazing while saving floor space.
Atlantis is a nightly rental, so we don't have as big of a garden as we could, but we do recommend vertical hanging plants for increased yields
My fav is still the Global model. That is a cool building, though! The 'U's feel retro yet this building changes them. Very nice!
Yes, the Global Model is definitely still the best, I have been staying in over 10 different ones, and the Global Model is by far the best for temperature control.
that's my dream house, has been for some time...
Excellent ❤
Stunningly beautiful Earthship home! Wow! Thank you for the tour. I am unable to understand any of the audio. Is there any way that the audio can be remastered and added? I would love to hear more about the details. Thank you all so much! Namasté
Incredible home, and very liveable!
Amazing what you did with the sound in this video
I hope Michael is doing well !!
No wars over Lithium thankfully. There's plenty! ...and the technological + energy density improvements of batteries means far less Lithium is needed than anyone ever imagined.
Plus with all the private space companies now working on making getting to orbit easier we can expect asteroid mining to pick up a lot of business. I look forward to all the filthy industries moving into space and the thriving of plants and insects that will be here soon after. We probably need to make politics history also. A world without that kind of garbage would be a world full of Earthships methinks.
Salt batteries and sand batteries to the rescue.
@@Deutschtown I wonder what is the largest potato or lemon battery anybody ever made?
Back in the 1970s I had a book on earth-sheltered houses and their floor plans. I so wanted one of these houses back in the day, then could only find conventional homes for sale. Loan officers were unwilling to do construction loans for such experimental houses. Maybe today loan officers and builders would think differently.
I wish a developer would do an entire housing development of smaller versions of these houses out here in southern Nevada. Imagine the energy savings and water savings if every new house was built like this.
There is a reason - the labor cost of building these homes is quite high. Economic realities are a big hurdle to this style of home, especially for them being mass produced.
I'm not sure if the energy savings ever match up to the additional cost to build. With net-zero and passive house homes also an option, I think many people would choose those.
Nice new iteration. Some more design flair at the Atlantis wall would have made it look more impressive. Some waves with different tones of blue and some white to make it pop.
Pepino melons and papayas should grow well inside. A trellis to grow some vine like chayote, luffa, squash etc would look impressive. In summer it would help block sun. Cut it back in winter to let the sun in.
That certainly is a gorgeous view!
thank you-always exciting
Thank you Michael it’s beautiful!
More videos please
Great explanation
FANTASTIC!!!!
Here's an idea to try! Tree Fountain (aka Tree of Life)
1- Bore a hole into and up a tree being careful not to bisect the core of the tree.
2- Coat the inside of the hole with beeswax.
3- Put a water basin at the top and a fire pit or fireplace at the bottom.
4- Put copper pipe around the inside of the fire pit or up the chimney for a fireplace. This will act as a pump. (You can also use a hotplate if you prefer)
5- Add water wheels (fidget spinners can be used for some decent mini water wheels) for electricity.
6- Add hanging gardens for fresh produce.
7- Splice other saplings and/or fresh tree cuttings using the tongue and groove method for shelter.
This design provides food, filtered and conditioned water and air, electricity, shelter and SO much more! Everything a person needs for life and survival. Hence the "Tree of Life" nickname!
Very informative. Thank you!
Потрясающие перспективы развития этой технологии у нас в Крыму👍
Благодарим сердечно🙏
Thats amazing
That roof was not made out of trash, that is nice, I love the greenhouse and planter part of those as well as their functionality, they are really nice/cool. Thanks Michael
Amazing!
Very nice ❤
Plenty of room to plant trees gorgeous build
Hi Michael. Have you ever tried your approach to "Earthship" building in the north? In other words, have you tested your methods in the northern part of the USA? I have followed your growth process over the past several years and I am truly an advocate for what you are doing. What you are doing, needs to grow further. What are your thoughts? I am in your age group and many of us truly believe in what you are doing. Please keep going! We must keep thinking OUT OF THE BOX (the cage).
I love these dwellings. Even if society doesn't adapt to earthships at the least we should be recycling gray water.
Good to see innovation in affordable housing.
God bless you Michael Reynolds. Now if only the building code people could get on board….
Audio is perfect for me.
The perfect home. I will own one one day. ❤
Damn, that's nice! I want a Unity Earthship for me and my wife Ruth! 😃❤
This is the most beautiful one I've seen. How are those big rocks green? Is it paint?
We started our e.s. journey in the late 90's. Wish we knew than what is known now!
Would not be dealing with failing sloped windows, otherwise ❤ our efficient home. 🎉
Is it me, or is there a problem with the audio??
I have my volume set to max, and I still can't hear a thing.
Whadda bummer!
Looks like a beautiful place, but I'd sure like to hear the interview and about what it's all built from. :(
Love Earthships!
what device are you using?
my dream home one day i will build this home
Stupid sensoring youtube, shutting off the sound! Cause i hear the adds great. Aybody else haveissues with themtube doing this? MikeReolds is quite a fantastic rebel, thinking freely. The governmentis Ot our friend lol
What a dream😍
Maybe a dust screen around the perimeter to minimize dust build up
That thing is bad ass. I'd love to just have an economy model. Thx for the video.
The Refuge or Encounter is our economy model, $175-225 USD per sq foot
Is it just me? I'm getting zero sound....
it's just you
@@aaronvoel🤷 Still not hearing anything.
No sound??
live it
Curious why no Earth Tire Bale are not used in the construction of these Earth Ships. Rather than pound and ground earth with raw materiels, why not use a bale? Anyways, I love the self sufficient, ignore landfills approach to building you epitomize. I tell everyone repurpose materiels, and save scraps for garden plots vs. burying in landfills.
I had to buy property in another state just so I could even consider building one. The county and code enforcement were very interested and excited in being involved in planning and permitting. My current state flat out refused. Basically any off grid, non grid tied structure less than 240 feet is illegal. So insane…
🙏🏼
pretty cool, still like the Global Better. you talked about a different type that was made after the encounter. curious to see how the new one is different than the encounter.
Choices are good
The Refuge
❤❤❤❤❤
I have "rock envy",no real stones here...and l ponder how these would hold up in a subtropical location... I'll be watching 🤩 to learn all I can...thanks for the tour...last one I saw was the river...
They have one in Puerto Rico Is that tropical enough?
@@josephyarbrough9316 we have monsoon rains, lots of mold probs in houses here, and the land? It's sand atop clay...house I'm currently in cracking and sliding...wondering the weight of the tires be a plus in that case or a minus...still learning, always curious 🤔☺️
@@caroczel I would get in contact with EB and talk to them. I found the staff helpful to a degree. I would think a concrete footer would solve that issue
❤
First of all, LOVE THIS!!! I'm already scheming to steal some of these ideas for our own house! 😍 I do have a question though. Other than the fireplace, is there any other heating system? Many thanks!
Earthships heat and cool themselves using thermal mass, temperature stored in the dirt in the tires, and the berm surrounding the building. During the day, the solar gain through the greenhouse will heat the building and your walls, and then at night the walls slowly release heat to replace the loss that happens when the sun is not out.
@@earthship I already know this, however, most of the earthships I've been exposed to also have a little back-up heat source, especially if there are a lot of overcast days where one is located. I guess that's not the case their in New Mexico/Arizona area where you're located though. But what does one do in that home if they feel a little chilled and want to warm the place up a bit and/or charge up their thermal battery.
@@carolewarner101shhhh! You're not supposed to ask questions! Haha. Ya, sometimes I get annoyed that these videos on earth ships only address the pros, and either gloss over the cons, or try to pretend that the cons are actually pros.
I have found a couple videos over the years where people who have actually lived in them shared their experiences honestly.
I think the concepts are great, but with advances in building science and materials I personally would rather build something like a Passive House.
@@dustinabc Honestly, I do prefer natural materials and low tech vs all the materials and high technology of a passive house. So this kind of building appeals to me. However, most people want their home to be warmer than the earth itself will keep it in winter. I do at least. Particularly where I live in the Pacific Northwest, we can go three months without seeing the sun in winter! So we would definitely need something to recharge the thermal mass battery of an Earthship in winter. That said, it's a relatively mild climate where we are, so once the mass was fully charged, it wouldn't take much to keep it topped up. I think radiant floor heat that could be run off a wood stove would make an excellent choice in our case.
Hope you get to build your Passive House!
I'm guessing that a rocket stove would be an excellent design addition. Or perhaps radiant heated floors?
can you build a concrete rectangular box the length of the home instead of using plastic cisterns to harvest the water?
How is Micheal's health? How is he doing? Does anyone know?
Note to the editor, you're supposed to cut out the part where he says cut 🤣
What about the black water on this site; is there no leach field feeding outside vegetation?
The rock on site made the traditional blackwater cell impossible, but yes most Earthships use blackwater to grow outdoor plants as well.
@@earthship so the Blackwater is contained inside the garden beds; or is there a septic tank outside for the toilet fluhables?
I missed it in the video.
Why does this remind me of Buckminster Fuller?
🥰😍🤩
Audio not working
😍
Does it have a septic system? Where does the toilet flush go?
Yes, it has a 1,000 gallon septic buried outside, overflowing into a leach field This particular site did not allow for an outdoor blackwater cell because of the rock, but most Earthships have an outdoor botanical cell collecting the overflow from the septic, before the leach field.
Audio is missing for the whole video
No sound. Something wrong with the audio. Please fix it. (Android phone)
What is the total cost of the build? Or cost breakdown?
What is the cost of this home and who can I contact to learn more
I am getting No Audio
what device are you using?
What are you doing with black water??
The Audio is scuffed
Anyone else not getting any sound?
i want to do this but with pristine alchemic materials engineering and modern engineering tech.
i don't care to use bottles. i want to use dielectric fluid, passive solar manipulation, and heat pipes.
Ok is it just me or is there no AUDIO?
How ge gets permits to do this in California especially. That's the MILLION dollar question. Anyone knows???
With record high temperatures every year, it is imperative that we build houses with passive heating and cooling like these Earthships have. Unfortunately, most home builders refuse to do this which is why people suffer from high heating and cooling bills and air conditioners continue to release harmful hydrofluorocarbons.
A little more relevant to *existing* buildings in need of retrofit is the architectural work of #passivhaus or, #passivehouse. Because we deserve much more better architecture instruction for new AND existing, residential, governmental and commercial buildings. 0:45
Audio doesn't seem to work
We are aware of audio problems on certain cell phones, apologies :( We will fix this in future videos
@@earthship no need to apologize, the building looks great! I'll check out the video on a different device. Thanks!
Finding sheets of Styrofoam is kind of becoming a pain in the butt what would happen if I decided to make a second wall of tires?
It's alot more hours of labor, but could work.
There's a little noise, but I can't hear what they say.
Just watched # 2 video... "bags of water" ...
So, a serious ?, how much land should, must I have (minumum) to build an earth ship, lets say, big enough to enable to grow food for 10 people living there... sarrah, Jerusalem ✌
Earthships here in Taos require 2 acres - this is code for our county - it varies. An Earthship greenhouse of this size can only supplement your diet. The botanical cells are for wastewater recycling and some food production, but you will need to implement hanging plants, legumes, and possibly livestock to be fully self sufficient.
Why is there no audio?
We are aware of problems on certain devices that only have mono audio output (android phones of a certain model) Apologies
