#Scotland
Obviously it's a very beautiful country but what I love more >>> the scottish people, came to work as a doctor and everyone surrounded me with love and support, very polite patients..now, I am in deep love with anything scottish❤️
My grandfather came from Scotland to Canada and then to the USA in 1930's. If I could move to Scotland and live there, I would in a minute! Wouldn't need a job so I'm not taking one from a Scot. Love Love Love Scotland and it's people!
If you've never been to Scotland then you don't know what a shit whole it is, it's a run down council country 👍
This is absolutely hilarious. Guys never been to Scotland in his puff!
Indeed! Never thought of our country as exotic 🤣
@@Weeflowerofscotland I mean we do have our moments! Great username by the way ;)
@@kingofscots thank you 😊 🏴
@@Weeflowerofscotland we should have our own wee channel talking about er... stuff!
It’s an English person that makes videos just to get views and money. They know nothing.
Why's an Englishman narrating this when he can't pronounce the areas in Scotland
Bc it’s a bot 🤖
Maybe because the PM is Indian.
Wow 😳 Scotland very beautiful 😍
I live in a beautiful country, " Italy, " but Scotland is magic.
Hi
Scotland looks like a beautiful place to live in.
I would also recommend the East Neuk of Fife
i dont live in scotland but i have been to crieff many times and it is an amazing place, atleast top 5 for me
Surprised Denniston is on the list... Partick/Byres road area/Botanic gardens in Glasgow is worth a look if you're a tourist.
Dunoon and surrounding areas, and St Andrews
Elgin should be on the list - cathedral city with access to beautiful coastlines and gold sandy beaches, loads of history, whiskey, nature walks, good access to Cairngorms, furthermore a quaint town centre and most importantly the area with the least rainfall across the entirety of Scotland! Not surprised it is not on the list however as Elgin and Moray in general is quite a hidden gem.
I would never live on the west coast as it rains constantly, Edinburgh is too expensive, and Aberdeen is soulless - the Highland / Moray area is the best kept secret in Scotland for quality of life.
Wow! Aberdeen soulless? That's where I was born... my parents immigrated to Canada when I was a 2 years old ....now 76.
Love Elgin, and Findhorn is amazing.
Aberdeen 😭😭.
Elgin was on his list of worst places to live in Scotland 🤣
No "whiskey" in Elgin - try whisky.
The odd thing is, Dennistoun would have fitted comfortably in your worst places in Scotland to live 20 years ago. It really wasn't a place you wanted to go to, but now it is impressive and it is a credit to the residents there.
Ah moved tae Dennistoun twenty years ago, Golfhill Drive, it wiz fine 😀
My mum hails from there and I agree 20 years ago it was drug riddled etc.
North Berwick...nice place. I think portobello is beautiful. Thanks for sharing
'The Orkney Islands', not 'Orkney Island' as there are a bunch of them. They can also collectively be called 'Orkney'. The largest island of the group is not called this either. Locals refer to it as 'Mainland Orkney'
Stirling is the gateway to the Highlands.
Yes, I agree that the Orkneys (Kirkwell) and Portobello must be among the best places to live in Scotland
It’s just Orkney not Orkneys. Also Kirkwall. Best place to live
great list, just back from an 8 day motorcycle tour mostly of the highlands/skye/edinburgh….Loved Fort Augustas and Pitlochry, not sure of employment possibilities in these areas but boy they were pretty!🏴till our next trip☘️
Hi
Both are really stunning. More chance of work in Pitlochry probably hospitality. Portree is a charming place.
One problem with Scotland it gets cold quicker than England. There school go back in August time while English schools go back in September time cause weather change 🥶🥶🥶.
Shetland should surely be on this list
Plockton is wonderful.
I was there in Glasgow 2010 to 2011 it's lovely to live there, those days with my kids and wife in Glasgow are still fresh in my memory.❤❤PrasaaD
Nice to know he consider the place i live #2 in Scotland :)
i like #4 the isle of eigg,or could you do a video on some of the other hebrides towns/isles,or do a video on aberdeen country towns, can you do a video about the highland towns😀
North Berwick is my hometown!
They've missed Burghead, which is good. That way it keeps it's charm..
It's pronounced Bears Den... not Baresdin ...and Denistun...not Denis Toon
I’m glad someone else noticed. He’s obviously not from Glasgow.
Its pronounced herb, not herb.
I perfer to live in a good small town called bonnybridge, but love it!
Lots on Glasgow and surrounds. Also, he seems to love islands.
Too much if you ask me. Maybe OK if you're retired, but then you're miles away from comprehensive medical facilities.
Glasgow has many good areas surrounding areas too Clarkston giffnock Newton mearns thortonhall Busby newlands shawlands polloksheilds strathbungo cathcart dennistoun finnieston bearsden mosspark drumbreck and most of the West end dowanhill kelvinside claythorn and many more districts
Wow beautiful
Bearsden is actually pronounced "Bearsden". It's not "Bearsdin". Eigg is pronounced "Egg".
Gruesome grasp of local names.
I would recommend St Andrews with its ancient university, old harbour, historic centre and lovely Lade braes walk. (No idea what house prices are now.)
I visited Dumfries it was beautiful
Melrose as well as North Bewick - have expensive shops and are hard to find parking places ,.
now it is hard not to say Islands are not a good place to live but food etc are far more expensive. and less things to do if you don't like walking. with less hospitals, dentists etc. and could get cut off in bad weather
Or due to the Sottish Government's stupid waste of money on ferries.
Not too remote I don't mind being round people but do like things a bit more quieter but as long as there is stuff to do that's fine also
Been through Glasgow and stopped in Greenock love to go to Scotland again Orkney looks lovely I wonder if it's like Cornwall less stressful and people seem fine😊😊😊
Aviemore really needed to be added to that list
not untill they get a burger king lol
Isle of Eigg? Maybe if you have retired. I found living in Bermuda boring cant imagine what its like there with the lovely Scottish weather. These lists are complete BS.
Totally agree, Eigg is a basket case since the local buy out
……never thought of Scotland as “exotic.”
Nice
10. Orkney Island; 09. Na h-Eileanan Siar (The Western Isles); 08. Broughty Ferry (Arbroath); 07. Bearsden (Glasgow); 06. Dennistoun, Glasgow; 05. Dunkeld (Perth and Kinross); 04. Isle of Eigg; 03. Melrose, Borders; 02. Portobello, Edinburgh; 01. North Berwick (East Lothian).
Broughty Ferry is in Dundee.
Dennis toon 🤣 AI is wild
pretty good
Broughty Ferry is located in Dundee so it’s part of Dundee
Was Brought Up In Dennistoun Like Every Area Is Has Positives And Negative To It Honestly
It’s pronounced “bears den” not “bersdin”. I’m quite proud it made the list though because my mum is from Bearsden and I’m from the neighbouring town of Milngavie. It is quite a posh area of Glasgow so I guess it makes sense. My family lived in the poorer area lol.
I was hoping nobody would mention Milngavie!!! 😄
@@jimreynolds2399 why?
@@rachelcookie321 probably pronunciation😁
@@iceninja46Mull guy?
Lived in Denniston in the 1970's. Sounds quite 'posh' now.
It actually is. I always think when you see a strong cafe culture locally the place is on the up. The tennement flats are a great buy and on a par with what you get in parts of the west end and Shawlands.
I would love to live on Shetland Isle.Beautiful...All the others would suit me fine as well.Grew up in Linnvale Clydebank and love my wee country.🏴🏴🏴🏴👍👍♥️
Lochgelly is the best place to live and Motherwells beautiful shopping centre is the best place to visit.
❤️love❤️from❤️india ❤️
Hi how is it 🙏 ♥ 🇩🇪 biggest thanks 👶 🤗 amen nanri 🏵 so cute beuteyfull place 🙏 es m 🇸🇴 🏵 🎓 🦌
Loch lomond, Helensburgh, Oban and Mallaig.
What about Dumbarton and Cardross
Great places if you don’t mind a little trench foot 🌧️🌧️🌧️
There's better places in Edinburgh than Portobello - Morningside, Stockbridge to name but two. North Berwick is certainly very classy though
I love Portobello.
How does Scotland compare to Ireland as a place for retirees?
Would love to know that as well. Both are amazing!
I'm from Edinburgh and I have to say portobello is a horrible place you'd definitely wouldn't want to live there and there are far greater places to live in Edinburgh like the homes near ocean terminal on the water front.
I've went to the royal yacht in January we walked from the hilton on North Bridge all the way down walked through some run down places where there building the new tram line but your right ocean view was nice
Pollution on portobello high street gave me asthma attacks
I want to move to Scotland but it’s so hard to decide exactly where to live 😫
Do what I did - get a plane to Aberdeen..
Leith or Shawlands are two great places to live in your 20s.
Possil Park is the place to go
Avoid it if you can --- you will be sorry.
@@stuartmckenzie4054 why?
DENNISTOUN! Gies peace.
His pronunciation of Bearsd'n instead of Bears Den was bad enough but when he included Dennist'n in the list I just gave up. (Nothing to do with the pronouncing of that one).
Scotland has got fantastic scenery but not many nice towns and villages. However; the people are generally some of the friendliest in the world.
There’s plenty nice towns and villages
Apart from Edinburgh. and Glasgow where all these lovely towns and villages.
@@toolatehello3345 Edinburgh and Glasgow are cities not towns
And the nice towns are where?
@@toolatehello3345 girvan calendar Perth. There’s many. I don’t know where you’re from but you need to travel more
Where is Aberdeen ?
Orkney??
While it’s great to see Scotland highlighted, if anyone is planning to move here, don’t even think about using almost any of these pronunciations. Na h-Eilean Siar isn’t even close to how it should be said!
You've left out the hillfootsxx
clydebank. great place. very friendly
by the way this is the third Scottish video which all seem to have the same clips in it.
It seems to me, by his narration, that EVERY place mentioned is the BEST place in Scotland to live !!! LOL ! 🤣🤣🤣
The Scots are handsdown the BEST people on the planet. And thats from an englishman
DennisTOOOON. Hilarious. Is it April 1st?
I. Don’t think many will be able to AFORD !!!! to live in Scotland ! Not with those house prices !
Very well noted, the house prices are stating that these areas are only reserved for the rich only.
Depends, if you're single or in relationship with no kids then it's affordable. I'm college student in US, there definitely some good places affordable in Scotland, especially if you're looking for one bedroom flat. For families that's a different story.
@@BiG-JuPO1O1 they teaches english goodly at your college.
@@co94 That doesn't make sense to what I said lol
Where does he get his information! Englishman telling people where to live in Scotland. Really!!!
Dennistoun.......pronounced by the commentator as Dennis Toon ......hahaha
Poorly researched. Difficult to quantify, however, the "Actual" top 10 list would probably be very different. I would like to know what the criteria was for the making of the list, as it has some strange choices and misses out lots of award winning areas. For anyone thinking of moving to Scotland, please don't base any decision on this list. There are lots of incredible towns and areas that have not been mentioned.
Your pronunciations are incorrect on some places
An Englishman who cannot even pronounce the names correctly telling the world where to stay in Scotland is hilarious.
You should see other Americans trying to pronounce locations in Mississippi.
Actually well done🎉the narrator was very positive and polite.
Edinburgh is the best
Campbeltown
yeah, but going there, and going out is pretty annoying. Its 90 miles from like anything else than it. But the Isle Of Arran is closeby, I love that place.
How would a retired America do in Scotland?
You wouldn't need to own a gun, worry about health care or claim you're Canadian.
Depends....if you like whiskey, golf, rain and free Healthcare you'll love it.
@@linzynhs3747 That's why as college student in US I want to move to Scotland. I love rain, students loans in US is nothing but debt trap for young and inexperienced Americans, health care is available in Scotland as human right, education system is better than outdated US education system, and people regardless we're from are going be good and bad, if I had a choice I would choose to be born in Scotland than US.
@@BiG-JuPO1O1 lol. You are cracking me up haha.
@@co94 Why, it's the truth. Would you rather deal with expenses of health care, student loans to get higher education?
Ayrshire
I was raised in Portobello and proud to say so but it has no place in Top 10. Better options in Edinburgh and many more in Borders, Highlands and Islands.
Orkney and the Outer Hebrides being the last 2 is ridiculous. Berwick being the best is ridiculous too because theres bugger all to do there. And Bearsden being higher than the Hebrides and Orkney?! Ye kiddin? 😂😂
The best places also have the highest Council Tax rates, highest house prices and like most of Scotland the worst public transport
system in all of western Europe. There are also more potholes pro rata by mile.
That’s because sturgeon was offered millions to repair roads but said no
That's because Scottish taxes end up in London..!!
@@haydonditchburn2194 You obviously do not drive otherwise you would know a proportion of fuel tax and road tax is taken for the nation's roads upkeep.
All taxes in the UK end up in London before being redistributed by H M Treasury. There is £580 million missing from the Scottish budget, which auditiors
cannot find and the SNP cannot explain.
@@voicezful that is exactly what I said... Read it properly...!!
I think Edinburgh has the worst pavements ever. It doesn't seem to be like a Capital city. Also transportation is generally poor even in Glasgow especially from 7pm. Why?
Whilst I appreciate your upload you really want to learn how to pronounce the towns names.
The toon's!
Dennistoun ??? Nearly spat my coffee out there which is ironic given that god spat Dennistoun out at some point when he was having a bad day - it’s a dump. It’s not the worst place in the world but top 10 list, away you go, that’s actually laughable. Try visiting places before recommending them !
Ratther live in Ardrossan than any of these places.
Paisley is stunning
Linlithgow
People ditch Fife 🙄 lot of nonsense. Just to move to arbroath
Fife has some beautiful towns and villages, and is handy for travelling to Dundee and Edinburgh and more.
@@AV-fo5de yup.
BearsdIN? DennisTOON? Plus, God knows how you pronounced Na h-Eileanan Siar. If you didn't do enough basic research to check pronunciation them how is anyone supposed to take these recommendations seriously? PS, I'm from Dennistoun.
The pronunciation of place names is very poor.
Please tour canada
Why. It has New Scotland?
Portobello? really? I remember it being pretty average...
Dennistoun ? Really ?
Bearsben😂
😂 Bearsden is snobby 😂😂😂😂😂 according to who?
If you're going to make videos about Scotland, At least learn to pronounce the place names properly. That is sheer laziness on your part. Dennistoun and Burgh weren't pronounced properly.
The ten best places to mispronounce in Scotland?
Awful. … one the best places to live in Scotland. This phrase is repeated so often could no finish the vid
What a patronising commentary. Would be better done by a Scot. The person who has formed this vid should have made sure of his facts and pronunciation. It gets a big thumbs down from me.
The best places to live in Scotland . Get to Berwick then head south . And keep going.as fast as you can .
😊😊
There is no where beautiful place to live in Scotland, what about the tax of everything?
Montrose should be on that list.
This has got to be a wind up. At least TRY and get some good pics to go with the ridiculous list lol
Dennistoun very dangerous violent just Google crime in area
