  • Ida Nielsen plus Ditto Looper equals instant funk-magic. Ida showed up at TC HQ. We sat her in front of a camera and handed her a Ditto X2. Then this little sonic miracle happened!

I'm not on here to endorse Sandberg but I will say that I've had 2 Sandberg California TM4 Bass guitar's in the last 4 year's & I honestly believe they are putting Fender to shame with their take & homage to Fenders Range Of Bass Guitar's...
The craftsmanship that Holger & his team that hand build these bass guitar's in smaller number's than the bigger companies do so not out of the lack of musician's wanting them, but that Holger & the team of Luthier's prefer to take their time when building these bass guitars to the highest quality & sound...
All I can add is each time I picked one of the TM4's I felt as if it had been built specifically for me alone & that has never happened to me in over 25 years of playing Bass & having next to every Brand Name & independent builders out there...
If your looking for the sounds of a P & J mixed with a little sprinkle of its own sound then at least try out the Sandberg California TM4 Bass Guitar...
In light of the still ongoing coronavirus outbreak stay safe and healthy where ever you are in the world...

That was a hell of a lot of music made in very short order, and the way she was smiling and bopping around throughout made it more fun and exciting! Miss Ida is no joke.

Ida does not worry about being subtle, she's just raw power and emotion. Her thumbs must be like leather lmao. She's like the female Larry Graham, listen to all those slaps and it's all hard playing. They must be extremely tough hands, it's all very aggressive. My hands hurt like a absolute punk after playing this fast for a while, it's not just my thumbs either it's my hands and also my wrists, they start getting tired and it takes days to feel normal again.

I wonder if she's also dealing with wrist or thumb pain on her right wrist from the way that she hits them strings, I don't mean to spoil the fun but since I have dealt with it for the past half year or so, watching bass players play like this is just painful for me now, reminds me of my pain :/ ...but hopefully she's not, SHE's SUCH A GREAT BASS PLAYER :)

I get where your coming from as I can only play while sitting down because of disabilities that have gotten worse during my adult life but I believe Ida will be fine as she only seems to sit down for demos...
It's when your doing this for hours at a time that your (if right hand) wrist starts to really hurt...
Thumb wise that is different as you get used to slapping with your thumb in the same way your fingers harden with calluses...
If that doesn't work then do what Mark King (& as I have) has been doing for over 4 Decades & use some duct & wrap it around your thumb, this also adds an edgier harder sound when using your thumb to hit the strings...
Again I don't see Ida needing to use duct tape as she doesn't slap the way Mark King does... If your hitting the string correctly with your thumb it should hit your boney upper part but because I've got small hands I end up hitting the bass with the softer upper part of my thumb but it still gets the job job...
The main thing is to adjust to what makes you feel comfortable with when playing bass...
For instance for at least a decade now many who took up the bass & played slap style played with their hand open & pointing downwards & using their thumb to slap in that position & you can accomplish a great slap technique but as I pointed out to a few players year's ago that played that way that it's going to hinder them if they want to use their thumb like a plectrum while slapping inbetween!..
Now those same bassist are having to switch to playing what you'd call the traditional way, so they can slap & use their thumb as a plectrum...
Again it's each to their own & many who play the alternate style of slapping with their hand pointing downwards still do it this way as it's up to you or each player to choose what your comfortable with & if you want to stick to one way of playing a certain style...
If you look at Jack Bruce & Geddy Lee they only used 1 finger when playing with their right hand for finger style yet they could in Jack's case & still can with Geddy shred the bass as if they are using three fingers...
It's all about adapting & learning as many ways as possible but then picking your style that best suits you..
I hope this has been of help & you have a good weekend & All The Best...
