I grow permanent vines in pots and since i do not have access to garden soil i have been using premade potting mix (comes in 10kgs bags) and i add perlite for better drainage.
But still i really do not know when to water even if i use the 2inch finger rule.
Someone recommended i use cocopeat and coco chips/husk as a potting mix.
Will it be good for my permanent vines?
If yes how will i know when to water them bcs husk or chips or cocopeat always appears wet

Hi , I can't really tell exactly when to water if you are using coco's because location and different weather is the main thing we need to look at ....if ever you will use coco chips , soak the pot into its saucer to penetrate the water into chips , because if you just pour water from top , water will not getting in the chips ... but make sure after soaking for few minutes or until water penetrate into chips you must throw away the water , the saucer must be emptied or you may also take away the saucer if plants are outside .btw use finger to feel if it needs to be water, hope it helps.... thanks for visiting my channel.
