Glad you pointed out that your head was clipping the tree line really does make a difference when you push up or down to clear that clipping. As for locations wow on your doorstep lucky you it looks like a nice walk and when the sky goes off one morning you will get some great images
I really enjoyed viewing your beautiful images. They are very inspirational and they make me want to go out and capture some of my own. The challenge is to try to match your great images.
Glad you found this hidden gem Kim it’s a favourite of mine I used to be there all the time! Great day or night and you can get some beautiful images of the swans on the water in the right conditions..... oh and keep an eye of for the Kingfisher & the Osprey when it returns, it’s a wonderful location..... Happy new year 😊
I have dreamt of seeing a kingfisher for years! I ALWAYS seen to miss them by a few minutes. Will definitely keep an eye out for it when I'm back again. Also love Ospreys. Bet its a great place to watch it fishing. Thanks for the info. You've just added more excitement to the location for me :)
You are so lucky having all this scenery around you, and its nice to see your images of it too, it was hard to believe that was you in the pictures, so you have a nice set of selfies too.....well done....Thanks for sharing....
Well, I hope the new year brings you luck you want in 2019....I liked the reflections of the tree's in the lake.. there's alway Swans, their must be billions of them !!!...looking forward to your vlog in 2019...martin
Hi Kim, I think there was a great shot that you didn't take, but was in the video towards the end where you were stood on a jetty. Enjoyed the whole vlog as usual. Thanks, have a great 2019.
Thanks Roy. Good to see that you saw a potential image that I didn't shoot. We all see the world differently so great to hear that you saw more potential shots in this stunning location.
What a great find,Kim? 😚 How cool that it's on your doorstep, that's one of the best surprises! Beautiful location. And just wonderful, interesting light! That glow is superb & so too are all the reflections.
I thought we had a good number of swans on my part of Loch Lomondside, but yours have outnumbered them! Such graceful creatures, which can make for various beautiful images. I like it when the afternoon winter sun highlights the greenness of the grass and the reeds. It makes a nice contrast to the more subdued winter colours.
You had some wonderful light and reflections it looked so pretty thank you for sharing this Kim I liked your images particulaly the one with the swans and the trees :D Teddy
Nice spot! SWMBO and I spent part of new years day shooting a water fall and ruined foundations of a mill that are literally 6 miles down stream from our house. We need to explore there some more.
Hi Kim I prefer the first one of you sitting down but I can see what you are saying but the second one makes you look lonely beautiful images. Nice to see you at the back of the camera again. Happy New Year to you.
Hi kim you should check out the drinnies wood observatory just a short walk from the lake and it would give you all the history of the lake and the pitfour estate :) thanks for doing a vlogs of this area in which i live
That has been on my list of places to visit for a while now. I believe the observatory is only open over the summer months though - is that correct? Will certainly make a trip there at some point this year :)
@@kimgrantphotography thats right which is silly as more people walk up there just now than the summer time . Pitfour lake was mega busy on weekend . hopefully see you around sometime and keep up the excellent vlogs in our area :)
Hi K, I thought we only had one Lake in Scotland, Lake of Menteith you mentioned in your vlog in one sentence lake and loch so which is it ??? I only gest keep up the good work .
I thought the same too! Went to lake of menteith a few years ago - stunning location! I remember at the time reading it was the only one in Scotland. I guess this one is in an estate and is apparently quite a new place for the public to access so not so well publicised.
This is a lake made by the victorians of pifour estate back in the day was mostly used for fly fishing which it is still the case and i have seen up to over 100 swans here at one time
Do you know the status of the rest of the estate? Apparently my family owned it and the only recent pictures of it I can find make it out to be abandoned
Afraid not Ashton. Most of the estate is trees and all of the houses on the estate seem to be occupied. It's used now mostly as a fishery. That's all I know
Great Vlog. Getting down really low . It changes your perspective. But those pictures were nice. Now you may not like them. But I think they were great. You do inspire. By the way. How cold was it?
Thank you Don! Glad you liked them. I can't remember exactly...i went back this morning and it was minus 5 degrees. Was definitely quite a bit warmer when I shot this video though!
lol I was complaining about 37 here in southern Calif. They showed pictures of the polar bear club. The put on their swim suits and go into the snow. brrrrrrrrr
Nothing wrong wee the image, my preference is the one with you sitting down, with the lead in of the walkway and you central in the image. I think if you had your tripod higher with that shot, you could have set yourself off against the lake ,giving some seperation from the tree line, just my tuppence worth :)
Thank you Mike! Must say that I preferred that image more when I got home and saw it on the computer. It was surprisingly hard to get a good composition with the uneven ground and step hill but fun all the same 😊
Very nice photos,Kim. Like that you included yourself. Wonder if the first photo might have worked a little better if you were sitting on one of the benches, just off center of the image?? Very nice work this week.👍
Cheers Martin. That idea may have worked, however I wanted the walk way to be central to my image to add a leading line into me to add depth to the image. May try your suggestion another time though - thanks :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR KIM - I found this to be a nice relaxing video, looking forward to see what you come up with this year.....
Beautiful........... Nothing else need be said - Thanks Kim
Super images and yes, well worth more visits in all the seasons.
Nice photos Kim - I remember fishing there a few times about 20 years ago before it became a private club. Always saw lots of wildlife.
That's lovely James! Nice to hear that you have good memories from the place. Very peaceful place for a spot of fishing.
Great video Kim. Loved the image with the swans and the boathouse. Surprising what you can find on your doorstep.
It sure is Jim!

Thank you Henry and hey - just get out there and shoot. Practice, practice and practice and the results will speak for themselves. Happy snapping!

It was so stunning Debbie - so much so that I went back this morning to take some more images (tune in on Sunday to see how that went 😉)

That sounds beautiful! Hope you make it back to do some more exploring soon. Its amazing what's on our doorsteps when we go out and do some exploring.
