Name: Brick House
Location: Mysuru, Karnataka
Year of Completion: 2016
Plot Area: 3,800 sq.ft
Built-up Area: 3,100 sq.ft
Project Cost: 4,500 per sq.ft
Architecture & Interiors: Architecture Paradigm
Principal Architects: Sandeep J, Late. Vimal Jain and Manoj Ladhad
DESCRIPTION:
An L shaped plan form helps us organize the diverse programmatic concerns of a house for a family of four which is amalgamation of function and desires; individual vs collective, public vs private, formal vs informal, immediacy vs slowness, largeness vs intimate, openness vs security etc. The shorter arm along the east west direction houses the public spaces whereas the longer arm along the north south direction over two levels houses the more private needs of the house .The L shaped plan also helped us appropriate the unbuilt into an identifiable private rear courtyard or the outdoor room and the transitional forecourt addressing the street. The private courtyard can be seen as an anchor around which the house works. These spaces extend out into the this outdoor room which is treated as a pleasure garden punctuated with water, trees and decks encouraging informal engagement with the natural. Open spaces along the west is integrated into the longer arm blurring the boundaries between inside and the outside.
This organizational relationship of the built with the open spaces signifies our design intent of outdoors forming a integral and a crucial part of the living experience. Open spaces become counterpoints to the serial nature of the urban subdivided neighborhood where open spaces are usually about residues as a result of byelaws and the land is treated as an commodity to be exploited.
The house is designed to bring in a sense of intimacy and connection through subtle changes in the scales of the various spaces. We looked at the material of modernity, reinforced concrete forming the armature along with the traditional brick forming walls, floors , screens and vaults defining the spaces bringing in a sense of warmth. Privacy and security screens are made with brick and mild steel flats ,here the slenderness of the steel flat and its tendency to bend over long lengths is addressed with brick spacers which stiffens and integrates the individual flats to create unique textural surface. Fabricated steel stair over the skylight along the western wall leading to the terrace is detailed to enable maintenance of the skylight glass below it, Here the tread is detailed to incorporate a swiveling mechanism to allow for the access to the glass beneath it. All of this is complemented by harnessing natural light to create experiences and spaces the family can identify with and cherish.
We stay just parallel to this house and always keen to visit. The owner of this house were so kind and humble they allowed us to have a home tour. It's a masterpiece in a nutshell. I was very much impressed, I had taken your business card as well. Hope to work soon
I live in Mysore. Can you please tell me where it is located.
@@Radhakrishnan it’s in Siddhartha layout
Can you pls share the exact location, need to visit and meet the owners
This is a house with a soul. Quietly beautiful.
It's always interesting to see these type of projects. It reminds me of a village & small town houses which is our real culture & tradition as well.
Very unusual, innovative, beautiful project. Talented architects.
It's beautiful. You fight heat in India. I fight the cold climate in Wisconsin USA
What can someone ask for more... This HOUSE is just a master pc.... Love to tk house tour though... 💕💕💕😍
This channel has so many nice houses. Please include more images/video of the actual house or the architect can show the structures in the house instead of sketching on paper so we can get a better understanding.
If there is house tour ...this video will be even more better .and itll b helpfull ... but still this video is great
📍I really liked how seamlessly they separated public space (drawing room) from private room (drawing room, bedroom etc)
Restraint control and simplicity in an age of consumption and excess.
A wonderful qoute..
At the face of it the space may appear to have been 'wasted' but it does impart a sense of tranquility to the structure, what we call Skoon in Urdu.
Amazing project, excellent solutions, beautiful and inspiring house! Would be nice to balance the architect interview with a tour in the house, showing the fluid circulation and the details while he is talking.
The spatial planning separating the private and public spaces. Really, loved it.
I must compliment everyone in your team from Architecture paradigm for this fabulous design and execution. I like the simplicity yet the exquisite use of brick and attention to detail. I like the thought process on not being too loud, yet make a classy statement. Well done guys. I will be in touch with you soon for this project i plan to start on soon near the beach in Chennai.
Ajit Diaz . Sir, this is Chetana. I am planning to work with architecture paradigm for a residential project. I wanted to know your experience with the team. Is there any way I can talk to you? Thank you in advance.
The architect explained it so well...loved the house too!
Uttar pradesh me to har jagah brick houses milte h😃😃😃😃😃😃anyways good work
Awesome loved the design presentation in a simple way
Thanks 😀🙏🤝
Very good work
Absolutely amazing design
BEAUTIFUL house! Very well thought out...genius use of brick . We should all live like this
Really clever use of space and natural environment. Simple and beautiful 👍
Looks so cool and unique! I love the indoor outdoor feel and that "atrium"! Wish I could see more.
Improve these things:
1) increase your mic volume.
2) Need more picture of interior.
Girish Radhakrishnan Sure
Also the background music is really cartoonish which completely goes against the mood of the the building

Have added a link to another video that gives montages of the interiors.
Great job 👏
Great, especially since it takes into account the environment and hot weather conditions.
Very interesting and it's heartening to note now people and architects are moving towards natural building....
It really helps the environment and us ...In turn ....
The cost factor is something that needs to be addressed....It's organic and natural ....Doesn't have to be exorbitant ....
Nice work nonetheless...👍
We Architects have always been captain planet type of people, it's the commercial side of architecture that's what getting these perceptions.
Loved the plan ❤
Price is 1 crore, 39lakhs 50thousand.
Am I right?
Extraordinary design 👌👍🏠
Loved it
Superb project. Bricks are looking very different and especially made to order for the project I think ...Cherry on the top was brick roof that was something which I love from my childhood... Superb brilliant ...but in these videos we also need to know the experience of owners living in the place
Yeah, maintenance is an issue. Bangalore is a city of dust. Very good scope dust accumulation.outside is okie.but inside very much inconvenience to clean. Yes brick act as an insulator.. thermally. That is why all around Bangalore, village house are with bricks..

You have a beautiful model behind you !! Use it - sir!
Loved the concept of brickwork and it's utilisation. Fascinated by the architect's working idea
Can we build a home same in a plot area of 3333 sq ft plot
What a great space planning. 👏👏👏
Minimalistic still interesting Design loved it.
Beautiful!
That's a lot of doors to close if u r off on vacation
Phenomenal!
Loved it.
Thanks for sharing
how nice it is to use the servent rooms to buffer the house from the Western sun. the servents besides doing the works around the house....they also have to take the heat literally.
is it so politically incorrect to say such a thing....these days.
The entire house, plan, architecture are all good, but except one thing.. i.e. Pooja area, which almost arranged under the stairs, which I feel not correct.. But, otherwise, house looks so quiet, pleasant and peaceful. One would love to spend some quality time here
ತುಂಬ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ. Keep rocking 👏🏼
A little more about the house- interior videos and pictures please
And fewer reels of the architect themselves
Very good sir... respect from kolhapur Maharashtra... please upload more vdos..
Best house I've ever seen considering all the things
Very innovative... but ₹4500 /sq.ft is very very very expensive for such a simple structure. Does that include the land price too??
I know someone who spent almost 3 crores for a 3 bed home in 3 floors in a 40x60 plot with a true home theatre ... not surprised
for 4500/sq.ft... we can build two of these houses.. excluding land price
4500sft is very expensive double the cost for this house
Congratulations. Advanced architecture.
Dear Buildofy, please include a walk through of the entire house in your videos.
Nice work!
Is that parking sufficient?
Wont the bricks get damaged by sun and rains?
The narration was very intense. Wish the actual visuals supported the narration rather than the paper drawings.
I liked it mate...Nicely done.
Awesome project
Very innovative architecture. Quick question: how many bricks were used?
Good work sir ..
I would suggest watching Houzz or Architectural Digest. A vedio tour is much more suitable for the viewers.
It's a classy design. video does not show the interior of the house for clients viewing, which would be nice to see?
have a plot of 4800 sqft. what would be the estimated project cost per square feet for a 4000 sq ft (architecture+construction and interior) ground plus 1 floor? please respond to this initial query?
Hi Buildofy,
Please choose the bgm wisely.
Thank you
Nice creation, mainly by using godhra brick's
My concern is about the bricks used for ceilings arch, how did u do the waterproof I ng part for that arch potion I mean wether u plasterd it or any other tech
Would you consider designing and managing construction of the same house in South Jakarta, indonesia?
Great video and good work
What's the construction cost & what kind of materials used. Being mysorean what to know for my construction
Great design !!
Hi im planning for construction simple home in bangalore. Pls guide. I like your concept
Very nice. From where do you get bricks like these.
Do the flooring is polished concrete or tiles? Please enlighten
Good design
Nice one... But the square feet price includes what and all..does it include the cost of putting up the total house, including construction and interiors.. Land apart of course...or only for the construction - interiors and land is extra.. please reply...
kindly elaborate the brick roof part , how does it looks like from top and could you have a balcony over it ??
Good concept and design.
Would like to interact with your team shortly.
Wow great ✌🏻
Wish video showd live visuals of the house than the paper scribbles.
Where in Mysuru ? Which Locality ? Being an Mysurian ... I love to see it :-) Thanks in Advance - Architecture Paradigm
Swaroop J R even I have the same thought. ... pls let me know the location
@@rakshithmanjunath5852 It's in Yadvagiri Extension.
It's in Siddhartha layout
Loved it ....
Really impressive. Aesthetic design. I have a plot more 25 x 65 in a prime area. I thought of selling it and buying a big plot. After seeing your design I have changed my opinion and knew people are there who could do wonders in small space. Will you be able to take the project sir. I will contact you shortly.
Impressive
Do you have any prior experience working in Bangladesh?
Site is aprox 50×80(4000sq feet)
Most of the Indian middle class buy 30×40; provide design for such space; all these videos are for rich people ; its of no use for us
These guys are running a business for people who can afford the service of these architects. They aren't putting out these videos for your benefit.
Well said Mr. Prakash
@bhanu why are you just complaining?? Work towards making your life more worthwhile!
Architects loves it when there is too many restrictions in the site, 30 x 40 is more than enough for a residence, U can still build a beatiful home.
Excellent!
Please don't waste so much paper to draw sketches...use white board
Sir , is this house constructed with traditional clay burnt bricks or engineered bricks ?
Can I have a full video of house
@Buildofy: Project Cost: 4,500 per sq.ft - Includes (Architect + Construction cost + Interior) ? ? ?
How approx the architect got from this project and what is the total cost of the project
Amazing!!!
06:32 how does the brick wall supported above the opening.. no lintel is used there?
There is a lintel in that opening. The brick has been cladded onto the lintel
brick cadding is done over there to hide the RCC lintel.
Understand.. You guys are trying to showcase the Architectural concept in a short video, but at least take a moment to show the House properly, you can leave the link to the design and details in a link or PDF, but how does one appreciate the architecture without having seen the structure properly!!
with respect to material and interior this house can be built under 2000/sqft
4500/sqft is way to much for this house. this is 3bhk with one extra drawing room.
landscaping and design is nice but still this is very costly.
owner is cheated by architect/contractor.
I am civil engineer and doing work in residential line also we have our team of contractors. so i can say.
we can build this house under 60L.
Hi, Can you share your number? I have a few queries.
If it was built for 2000/sqft we wouldn't be watching a video of it being featured here. People need to understand the value of design first and then make such statements.
Please provide clear video
All good however new-age architects must use digital tools to doodle these drawings rather than wasting so much paper. Environment will bless u
Could you (would you be willing to) build this house in Jakarta, Indonesia for the same amount of money?
What about when it rains? For the semi open spaces?
Mini Singh tab umbrella open karke baithneka😂😂
Aniket Sen
😂😂😂
Very innocent. You think that architect didn't think about that! Please watch carefully...
Dear can you show us a stone build modern house design please.
What about security and protection from pests, insects and other alien objects..
Shivank Shankar alien?dear shivank please remind yourself you are also a part of nature.....the more alienated you are from nature ,that much less immune and unfortunate you will be in terms of health and mental health.
Kindly shoot full video of the house
May i know the exact location of the house? I need it for my Thesis
It's in Siddhartha layout , parallel to ICICI bank

SIMPLICITY AND CLASS EXIBITED.♣️
COST OF THE PROJECT?
Already mentioned in the fact file 4500 per sq.ft
Thanks..Missed that

Guys please use a similar sized whiteboard rather than wasting paper. I know its only few pages but these pages will be just thrown away after the video is finished and that's just needless wastage.
All architects cater to the rich or lower middle class (mud blocks etc) and have nothing to offer to the middle class by way of innovative design. We would love to see them address this big cross section of society.
House is awesome. why people not growing fruits and vegetables tree with much open space garden, concentrating only decorated plants. We apartment staying people can't make it.😏
