Agreed on the added work. I think I prefer reverse dyes that take up less of the shirt if anything, for the very reason you stated, it isn't much different than starting with a white tee. It came out great though... I am starting to prefer using pastel shirts over white in some designs, try it if you have not, the results are surprising. I think also it helps when saturation isn't totally on point.
Totally agree, Chad, with everything you said! I like the idea of using other colored shirt for reverse dyes and just sticking with black dye for patterns like this. I just wanted to give it a go. My jacket tutorial is a light pink jacket... it’s going in for a re-dye, so stay tuned. Thanks for watching and giving me your feedback!! 😊 Jacket ua-cam.com/video/ItlVIOi1xZQ/v-deo.html
I 100,000,000 agree with you at this point!!!! I need to give it more of a chance though. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I really appreciate your feedback. 🥰 ❤️🌈
This is so vivid. I agree with you. You probably could achieved similar results with half the effort using a white shirt and black dye. I hope you’ll show me a spiral. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thanks for the tutorial 🌀🌀🌀
India, you’re right! I wanted to give it a try. I’ll know better for next time, if there is a next time. 😬 I won’t let you down. Of course there will be a spiral!! 😁 ❤️🌈
I think it turned out cool. Reverse dyes are a lot of work. I only use them if I find a cool, dark shirt in the thrift store, I wouldn’t buy a black shirt to reverse. I actually have a bunch of finished reverse dyes to rinse out. I feel like I’ve been working on them forever.
Thank you, Katie. Repurposing a T-shirt from Goodwill or something like that is a great idea!! I ordered these from Costco so they were pretty affordable. I feel like these consumed about a week of time and it was a big ordeal. Lots of pots and totes to clean up. Cleaning the totes is the least fun part of making tie dye. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😊❤️🌈
This turned out really pretty. I love the outcome of reverse dyes. I think they are beautiful, but I’m with you, too many steps. Thanks for the tutorial. 💜
I think that if you can use the black that is left on a reverse for some kind of definition that you can't get otherwise, reversing makes sense. I like the control I have with a white or colored tee better.
I came to say the same thing. It seems like you can get the same effect with just adding black to the back 😂 The only point I see to doing a reverse dye is when your going to still leave a ton of black in the shirt and then come in with som subtle tie dyed designs. It’s definitely pretty it came out fantastic as an overall project. 💞
Thank you, Tulani! 🥰 The Out White Bright really takes out the black from the shirt. It’s an amazing product. It was my first time using it so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s probably a product that is best suited for sinew type designs where the shirt can be pulled much tighter than kite string. It was an overall good learning experience. 😉❤️🌈
It's a pretty shirt but I agree that the result isn't much different than putting black on the back. The bleach reverses allow a little bit more precision & design variation but they also weaken the threads. Guess there's no perfect solution except to have fun! 😊 Thank you for the tutorial!
The key is to remember to have fun!! I’m going to do a few more and if it doesn’t stick, well I’ll move on. I’m an ice dyer at heart. There is plenty of ice dye patterns to keep me busy for eternity! Thanks for watching and hanging with me. 🥰 ❤️🌈
Kristin, I love doing Raven Black all over everything! It gives such a beautiful contrast. It’s terrifying at first... but SO worth it!! I haven’t sponged it on yet, I dove in head first! I do have the little sponge brushes though. I should remember to do that!! Thanks for hanging out and watching and commenting, I appreciate the feedback. 😍 ❤️🌈
I think this is beautiful! Maybe a different pattern will make you feel better about the process. I’m excited to see what the other shirt is going to be. 💙💙💙
This shirt is so pretty! You're right, can't really tell the diff between this and dyeing the back black. I've been thinking about different color palettes where the darkest color is not black. Where do you get your color inspirations from?
I don’t recommend this method. I share everything, good or bad. I love rainbows!! That’s a no brained on palette. Then I take from nature. Sunsets are a great inspiration. Also, I watch a lot of UA-cam. 😉❤️🌈
I love reverse dies but the time and smell both make me extra curious about adding black to the back of a die! Like die the back of the shirt black w/out repeating the color design from the front? Ok, gonna see if I can find any examples, thanks!
Thank you! Yes, the amount of soda ash and all the moisture was concerning! My spin dryer didn’t like me putting these bulky tied shirts into it and so they were WET! The longer they air dried they got really crunchy, so I had to go for it... the dye seemed to take well. So, maybe dry dyeing is a myth. I honestly don’t know. I’m going to play around more with this technique and see how it goes. ❤️🌈
I think it looks great and I also think you could have done it with half the effort the normal way you do it. I always thought people folded used bleach and the rinsed it out and that was it. I've never seen someone dye it again after it was bleached
Hi, Scott. Yes, I also did bleach. That’s a whole different ball of wax. I’m waiting for the weekend to edit that footage when I can focus more time to the process. I work during the week. Reverse dyes can be left alone and not adding dye to it. It’s a matter of preference. I personally don’t love the orange and taupe color that gets left behind so I add dye for that reason. Thanks for watching!! 😁❤️🌈
Very nice looking reverse dye fanfold my friend! Great work!😊🌈✨
Thank you very much, Riah. I really appreciate it. I’m not loving the process so far. I need to work with it more. 🧚♂️❤️🌈

@@BelladonnaDyesCo You’re welcome!
I agree that the colors are brilliant and they did a good job of displacing left over moisture which I have problems with
Reverse dyeing is really awesome but sooo much work. There are better patterns for reverse dyeing than this.
This is really nicely done. I like it very much! Good one, thank you.

Yes, thank you!! I thought I wouldn’t make their deadline, but I did! Now I can breath. I appreciate your support and positive vibes!! ❤️🌈

PRETTYYYYYYYY!
It’s super pretty!!! Rainbows are my favorite!
You could do a comparison video using both techniques. I think it is nice. I suppose any colour garment would work?
You can reverse dye and color shirt. A side by side is a good idea. ❤️🌈

Nice looking shirt. I though the shirt was supposed to be barely damp in order to take the dye? I haven’t tried reverse dyeing yet.

Can you use the same bucket for all the shirts or does the solution needs to be changed every time.
You can do multiple shirts in one hot water bin of OWB. ❤️🌈
Awesome
Thanks, Kathy! I appreciate the comment 😊❤️🌈
Pretty
Thank you, Shelly! ❤️🌈
My husband caught a glance of you using tongs to turn over the bigger shirt and asked why I was watching someone cook alligator.
It sure looked like a lot of extra work but the results are really beautiful.
