I'm super confused on the points - I assume is the white diamond? Sometimes, the overlay shows 1 prestige available, however, like with Negotiation Insurance 1:18:48 he says there 3 prestige to pass around?
The prestige points are in the white diamond, yes. There may have been other conditions in play that altered that amount, but most likely they were playing an earlier version of the game than went to retail (and the overlays would be from the latest available version).
The moment "Sinistral Gala" popped up, I assumed it meant "sinister." Then you all talked about making that assumption, too. I looked it up, and apparently "sinistral" just means "left-handed." Which is why you all passed a card to your left. So that's neat, I guess.
Sinister, too, means left-handed. It's earned the modern meaning over the centuries due to superstition built up from all the ways the world is made for the right-handed.
You should try the free, downloadable expansion - Luminor. You play with the same cards, but its a pretty different, completely co-op game. Better for 2 player, IMO. Try it out!

Really enjoyed this, definitely worth thinking about the Kickstarter, set was pretty good matching the game. Amusing group to watch.

PS - This isnt paid advertising or anything, I just struggle playing this game with 2 players as well, and found Luminor to be more enjoyable.
