The reason why p42s 114, and 5 have different details on the front is because 114 is representing the p42s from before Amtrak rebuilt the p42s (and p40s) in 2009 while 5 is representing a post 2009 rebuild. In the 2009 rebuild, Amtrak added the "bolted on nose" so that they could easily replace the nose should an accident happen and the locomotive is fixable. Another change is the glaising in the headlights were a thing on the as built p42s (and p40s) until the rebuild in which they removed them to make it easier for the crews to replace the headlights if they were to go out.

Looks like I have to work some overtime for my collection. I just rode an Amtrak, and it was great. The irony is that our train was behind schedule because of stack trains. We sided 3 times.

KATO includes a LOT of detail though, I have AMTK 66 from KATO for DCC and it’s amazing. The audio is quite loud but that can be fixed with recoding it.

DCC runs on 16 volts AC/DC when DC is 0-12V dc so dcc requires more power

Get a DCC controller. I would recommend the Bachmann EZ command because it’s a good starter controller and it can run DCC and DC locomotives

@@TheTntExpert29 If you look closely at all the details on a HO Scale locomotive, you will see why. These details are impossible to apply with a machine, they are applied by hand. This labor costs a lot of money.The electronics inside are also very expensive. There are many cheaper locomotives in the market right now.

I never went on amtrak before but i am for forth of july hopefully
It could be due to my poor vision but your unit #114 appears slightly listed to the left. Some other reviewer also mentioned about this issue. I am not sure if this can be easily corrected.
Mine had this issue. Also the plow is mounted on crooked which you can also see on these. I’m not sure what went wrong in production.

I would reccommend buying a DCC controller if you haven't already, i would reccomend the NCE Power Cab controller since that is the one i have to run my DCC equipped Locomotives.
