The RAF have been involved with the development of the A400M from early days. Back in the 80's there were meetings to discuss requirements of, what was known then as, the future European large transport aircraft. Main requirement was to be bigger than the C130 to handle bigger equipment used by the army but still tactical and able to operate in forward airhead situations. Although I loved working on the Herc it was severely limiting the movement of much of the new kit arriving into the army's inventory.
Great video, and well worth tolerating the rain. The A400 is growing on me. Some incredibly gentle landings in the C-130s.
OMG what a cool video . Makes me feel as though I am standing there . Thank you for your video .
The A400 is a better plane than the C130. But there’s something very endearing about the Herc, still a very capable craft despite its age
Thanks for your great videos.
Lovely video!
Man kinds invented the most incredible machine...
Lovely close up video . Pity it was a grey day . But that’s Ol Blighty with all its charm .
beautifully shot~!
If it doesn't have props, it's not a real aircraft 😊! From a 32 year C-130 mech..... Airlift moves the world!!!
Nice planes, nice video! Greetings from Russia!
Very good
Love your videos. I have a question; Why did the British buy the A400? What does it do that the C-130 or C-17 they already have can't handle?
mid way between the two in size.
It has interesting propellers
@Frank Kirkwood Interesting information. Thanks for the reply
Both the C-130J and C-17 were acquired (as a stopgap) because the A400M was very late! I say acquired, because the C-17s are leased and not purchased!

What's with the different shades of green, on the Herkys?
Camouflage
Cover the rust up lol
@@user-ei3dq2dw6i well, they're the latest model C-130J's
Does look as if those Herks have been patched up with whatever spare panels were available,.
Most likely trainers.
@@thatsme2182 You're definitely wrong. I'm curious about the mismatched colours but rather than guess I'll await a technical explanation.
@@Sarge084 I'm wrong, but you don't know why? Cool. #youtubelogic
Voyager? Is that a typo?
Marc Metivier It isn’t, no. Voyager is name given to the RAF’s A330 aircraft. www.raf.mod.uk/aircraft/voyager/
First of all, the name was misspelled IT'S VOYAGER OR, VOYAGEUR.
So what? Focus on the content not the title
It's VGER so captain Kirk informed me!!!!
