  • Military transport aircraft landing at RAF Brize Norton on a Sunday, quite a variety with a French Air Force Casa & Australian C-17 making appearances. The C-17 had a small number of Bushmaster PMV armoured vehicles bound for Eastern Europe part of a bigger order. See below for the aircraft list seen.
    Airbus A330 Voyager "Ascot 2301"
    Casa CN-235 "Cotam 2050"
    Airbus A400M Atlas "Ascot 4037"
    Airbus A330 Voyager "Ascot 9917"
    Airbus A400M Atlas "Ascot 4029"
    Boeing C-17A Globemaster "Australian Air Force 531"

    I was stationed at Brize during my RAF service, 85 to 90. Great place to live and work. Lovely shots of the planes, thanks for sharing.

    If any where's going to be busy on a Sunday, it's Brize Norton. Happy to see the CN-235 and Aussie C-17!

    That last one was a pleasant surprise. Watching from Australia and seeing a Royal Australian Airforce 36 Squadron C-17 was kinda nice.

      They've been doing quite a few flights like that lately, lots of kit moving downrange courtesy of the Aussies!

    I was stationed at Brize late 70s & we had Concorde training which just done circuits touching down & lifting off all night. What a racket, you couldn't hear your tv & ornaments would start dancing. The whole base was pissed off!

    I had a tour of that base (mid to late 90’s) with the Army Cadets, learnt about the PFL which saved my ass many times while mucking about as a kid.

    How often do these planes land there? and what is the best time to be there? is it legal to be there shooting photos of these planes?

    • @northoltflightwatch
      @northoltflightwatch  2 роки тому +1

      Military aircraft flight-plans are rarely in the public domain so you just have to take a chance and see what turns up, although websites like ADSB & Flightradar24 are helpful. And yes, you can take photos/videos from public land.

    Flew on the a400 Brize ➡️ Ascension island, And back pit stop Dakar. Crazy and soooooo long, Runway being fixed in Ascention Island 🏝️ So only half a runway, So take off and landing is fun, full throttle with brakes then weeeeeee. Landing brakes as soon as you touch tarmac

    • @KriVaDesign
      @KriVaDesign 2 роки тому +1

      @@concorde1793 That really depends on what the aircraft in question is doing. If it’s descending, it will be really quiet. If it’s climbing, it will be quite noisy. However, if it’s in a holding pattern at 3000 feet (for whatever reason) and they need to burn fuel (ie. the pilots want as much drag as possible and they extend the flaps and possibly even the landing gear) it will be very noisy indeed.
