What is the point in living in the past. Talking about Sati, Dowry etc. Yes it's history.
If the present generation is hurt by what the Portuguese did centuries back go to Portugal & take your revenge.
      No one will stop you.
But your out dated talks will disturb the minds of present youth who are so ambitious to move ahead in life. So also the present Sr. Citizens are very different they love experiencing new things in life & love traveling the world. This shows who cares what the Portuguese or British or Dutch or Moguls or Arabs did.
Today Indians are all over the globe living a happy life with their families.
Madam you & few of your followers can live in the past but pls don't disturb those people who want a peaceful & happy life. Bcoz we live a life only once.
      Thank you.

      To : Kevin John,
I am an Indian & Love my country & its culture.
I see your point : " would like to know the past & learn from it. "
Let me ask you, what are you going to learn from your past.
Tortures, killings, hunger, imprisonment without trial, humiliation - Yes the work of freedom fighter is worth remembering " God Bless their Soul." But they never got it in a silver plate.
Pls don't remember its heart breaking. But move on to a better pasture have a big dream & be ambitious for an excellent future. Your past will disturb your mind & might even be a hindrance to a happier life. Our ancestors faced turf time to gift us the freedom we live today.
Thank & pray for their souls 🙏 RIP.

22:46 Regarding conversion in Christian education institutions. Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu was the pilot program launched by the missionaries. The travancore king (a devout hindu) donated land to missionaries to establish educational institutions, so that his population could be educated.
the situation now is. All these old educational institutions are minority institutions, still subsidized and given special previledges. Out of the hand full of hindu teachers i had in my high school, most of them were converted, essentially to become full time teachers. New staff hiring to the colleges is strictly from the same denomination of christianity. This is not acceptable in any sensible democracy !

Hindus won't, or shouldn't, have a problem with modern education and know-how being disseminated. They do rightly have a serious issue with denigration of their Indic/Dharmic heritage, and the use of education as a cover for proselytization or conversion.

It isvery sad, very pathetic, that I, who finished high school in the 1960s, did not know ANYTHING about the history of Goa till I watched the movie starring Amitabh & Zeenat Aman came out. That was my FIRST taste of the truth about Goa. That has kept my pain & hatred for this. And it is a universal thing. Even MY PARENTS, whose GENERATIONS INCLUDING THEMSELVES, had gone through the muslim & christian atrocities, refused to talk about it. I am now trying to tell my grand children about it. I still have great difficulty in convincing my CHILDREN about this.

Show them videos from our channel. Ask them to read Swarajya Magazine. And the most significant book of recent times is a book called "Avarana" by SL Bhyrappa. It is on the horrible times of Aurangzeb and a contemporary story of a liberal Hindu woman who marries a muslim out of love -- and what hell she goes through. The original is in Kannada, but there is a brilliant English translation. Please buy many copies of 'Avarana' and share with more and more people.

      Imran Atheist ....
Pope to apologize! Are you making fun of Pope?
Popes don't do that unless they get money out of it.
Christian missionaries have done this in many countries.
To them it's akin to introducing civilization into the dark (skin color) world.
It was a huge industry in the 16th to 19th century.
All kind of people were recruited without background check and all the criminals and pedophile entered into the system. Hell a Lula.
Stories of suffering, from American aboriginals to Australian aboriginals and anywhere between India, Africa, were tell tale of the Pope atrocities.

Sure how about an apology fro Krishna who could have prevented fratricide and genocide but chose that moment to release his opus magnum on predestination and dharma on the eve of the war. Seriously! We are human beings first, language is acquired, where we come from is an accident of birth, what we do to improve the lives of our fellow travellers and not some dead idiotic human being someone anointed as God, like the broke ass Venkatveshwara who borrowed money and couldn't pay and so his followers pay his debts at Balaji, bankrupt beliefa, bankrupt practices. Mythological figures parading as Gods. Use your education and stop believing this utter nonsense.

Hey Charlie, puff, puff and pass it on. Don't keep it to yourself.
Your view is as ridiculous today as intelligent design or flat earth hypothesis.
There is nothing mythology in ancient scripts except they'er manipulated by the invaders. We've come a long way from Max Muller's era. During the last 14,000 (since the Vedic era) years or more India has gone through many invasions and invaders weren't humble, intelligent or moderate people. They were mostly savages who destroyed and manipulated most of the Indian temples and holy scriptures.
Religion is a concept, an ancient science where seekers of knowledge come together with hypothesis to form an idea about who we're, what is universe and how does it function etc. Even after all these events nothing need to be taken in its face value. Many things were used metaphorically.
But even after gone through those atrocities Indian Scriptures are much better than any other fables from the middle east.

@@ashkumar3208 a weird thought occurred to me Ash, that we are talking of Goa, only because it made some sense to talk about it, think about the lost lands like Pakistan, Afghanistan. Hindus are expert in losing grounds, Hindu religion can only compete and co-exist with Jainism and Buddhism which are Dharmic religions(unorganized and individualistic). Otherwise, we always find ourself defeated when it comes to Abrahamic (organised and herd mentality) . Even Atal bihari vajpayee said this that we are divided too much on many levels ,thats why a small clan from Ghazni came and looted us . @@amaysharma5408 no I digress from this topic actually....the real reason is we lost because of insiders helping them(infact I must say our ancestors were pretty strong "Kshatriya" jatis especially , because wherever they went it was concurred pretty soon in a few decades, but with Bharat it took them almost 6-8 century approx. and that too later got destroyed by Marathas.).... secondly the talk of "we"(as in Hindus comes only comes now)....the different jatis(tribes) never actually were united(and even if they were it was because of common interest which is true to this day). Common folk never participated in violence (at least not at a scale of how these abhramic people do it, yes that includes not just religion but the idealogy which is the result of it , i.e. , communism, socialism, atheist, etc). Thirdly, it's is not that I'm totally disappointed, because perhaps if you realise most of the jatis are coming forward (even in the name of "Hindus") , many have done "Ghar wapasi", we need to be patient and wait . Fourthly, I really do think that there is a big room for Hindu-party(not just BJP , but 10-20) and yes not to forget "gurukuls" if(this is just my wish ok?) I want at least one gurukul in every village of the Bharat only then we will be able to teach next generation about us....we don't learn these things in school that's why.

    Long subject but briefly
Life and Travels -esp in a seafaring job taught me that when all is said and done, just 2 Factors finally dominate most of mankind's action and behaviour viz;.
    a) External threat, Fear i.e. Security threats due to Aggression and shifts. Few stay is a fact - Nomadic life really ..
    b) Basic Living or even Poverty which sees Human beings gather together as Groups for Mutual safety and security with some comfort in daily life-esp at the village and the campfire culture now lost .--- Affluence changes ideas and seperates People -isolates them. Goan Hindus have differences with their Coastal Karnataka Hindu brothers though both are born from same umbical chord (kulavi) and in most of Goan temples one can witness rift among the trustees and kulavis. The basic issues is about no sense of unity among hindu communities. This is the main reason for invasions. The christain converts are now more united and follow the diction of the church whereas the hindu communities spend time fighting with each other for temple trustee posts or for temple development work or community development.

Bharatiya Hindus today have no idea about such horrors because our true "itihaas" has been whitewashed in our text books, academia and media by (starting from) the colonial masters to current-day leftists/secularists in our successive governments. So you can't blame the people alone, although I agree people should own up some responsibility for turning a blind eye to our itihaas. As with the goans, my first-hand experience, is most Portagee goans are still daydreaming of leaving for Portugal (or England or elsewhere), not realizing that the economy & living standards in Portugal is down the toilet and people of Bharatiya origin are being treated like thrid class citizens in Portugal. They think anything is better than being in Bharat. I guess that can be said pretty much of (most of) the christians in Bharat.

You are a bundle of twisted logic. The Christians have been blamed for Conversions and their places of worship have been desecrated in most parts of the country. Cow ban is similar to the inquisition. There is ethnic cleansing in some Christian dominated states which cannot be denied. Remember that Pintos were the first to start a rebellion against the Portuguese but when it comes to eating our cake now, you will not hesitate to blame the Christians for your twisted and witty logic. The Christians are migrating to Portugal and so are the Hindus. Do you think the Hindus are happy in India? This is mainly because of your lazy attitude to live life in the name of religion. When you don't know to dance you blame the dance floor. You will bring this country to its knees with that attitude. Your type was present before the Portuguese and for that reason, you will bring India to its Knees with all that superiority complexes that you live in. The Superiority Complex is because of your inferiority and insesurity to suirvive the competition and thus use religion to protect your commercial needs

The comments were not necessary directed against Christian community. However your comments are out of line. Cow ban is not inquisition and there is no ethnic cleansing of any minorities. To some extent it is the other way around. Cow ban provision is also part of constitution right from the beginning. A few unfortunate incidents by some miscreants cannot be used as an excuse to malign the whole majority. Christians are well respected and Christmas is celebrated nationwide. So don't create unnecessary problems. No matter how you put it, coerced conversions of majority will have to stop and is unacceptable. Religion is a matter of heart if you are able to understand. It is not about numbers. This business of only membership in certain religions will provide pathway to salvation is not rational. So whats the problem of Hindus migrating to other countries for better prospects? And this is not because of lazy attitude due to religion. On the contrary belief in Karma/Action acts as a motivating force for people to travel abroad for livelihood. No one has superiority complex the way you put it.
No one can bring India to its Knees. That's all very silly. It seems superiority is in your mind. Try to understand concepts of other religions also. You won't be converted, it will only enlighten you.

When there are people who criticise our constitution and is accepted by her as true, Why can't I bring in issues that disturb me and express my opinion? What I feel, is what I wrote here and above. These are my feelings. Please go through the discussions and find out who is blaming whom? It is as if after 70 years this group has suddenly become intellectuals. The minority upper caste always plays the victims when power has been concentrated all these years with them. They should have integrated with other castes and become as one community if they wanted such unity.

Really shocking, we should start a world wide campaign, and send out Maharishis to all corners of the world to proseletyse the world to hinduism. We should start wirh Pakistan and make all those muslims who were hindus before they were converted on the edge of the sword. We should convert them with the rudra mala. Then we should convert the whole middle east, persia, russia, any country that has a Stan at the end of its name. Lastly we shouuld make the whole West Hindu. What a glorious day when the mantras are chanted the whole world over. It will be the great world wide hindu civilization. Sanskrit slokas taught in every school, a mandir on every street corner with its own pujari and many, many vighrahas. Then only this kalyuga will end and a golden age will be heralded.

In the book Hindus in Goa published in 1923 described in great details the Portuguese perspective on India/Goa and dwelled a lot on Marathi-Portuguese relationship. Given that this is written by a post-liberalization Portuguese judge it is likely to be much more unbiased.
    1. Pacts. Shivaji's father Shahaji made a not-so-formal pact with Portuguese. When Shivaji was yet to become the force he was, Shahaji had already suspected that his family might run into trouble. As per the pact, Shahaji would let Portuguese mind their own business and in return Portuguese would take neutral stand in future conflict and give shelter to Shahaji's family.
    2. Reliability of trade. Portuguese had a natural port of Vasco in Goa. They hoped to buy stuff from surrounding regions and then export it to other parts of the world. However Maratha forces were at a constant war in nearby areas which lowered the productivity of the region. Portuguese hoped for peace and made whatever concessions Marathi forces asked for.
    3. Concessions. Maratha forces and traders affiliated with Shivaji's empire had access to all the trade routes that passed through Goa. In certain cases without any tax and for most cases with much lower tax.
    4. Geography. While for most people today Goa is about beaches and party; Goa of olden times was mostly a tribal region with several islands,r ivers and rampant with dangerous wildlife as well as mercenaries. It is always hard to launch a campaign in a region like that especially when there is nothing of significance to gain.

I agree my ancestors were hindus, and animists, and nomads and hunter gatherers and came from Africa. But they were my ancestors, they are not me, as per your dharma, I am a soul that inherited a body, a place, a language and a tradition, it is not me. I can like my ancestors who left Africa 65000 years ago claim the world as my home. Good luck with the career you have made spreading a fanatical hatred and your love of your religion and traditions and to all who wish to wander in darkness, offering foods to God's and pour gold into temple coffers while billions suffer from poverty, sickness, ignorance and disease, when you face the real issues leaving India in ignorance like corruption, inept politicians who hide behind a false nationalism, and religiosity, then you will have something good. Until then, your message and life in the greater scheme is meaningless.

      imran atheist
As an atheist you probably believe that which is defined cannot be God. Let us go back into history to decide which is the best religion, is the one which created apartheid even before the term existed the best religion? The caste system is one of the most shameful system of denigrating other human beings in the world. How can people be so ignorant and proud of a system that reduces a human being on the basis of a profession with absolutely no ablilty to redeem this generational condemnation is beyond me. Forget that they coat this uncomfortable truth in a stupid concept of predestination, anyone in this day and age that believes this nonsense then deserves to be treated the way these rosecolored revivalist hindu neofascists want to portray the world as one where hinduism was a benign religion of the golden age where the sunkings ruled, with the prayers and support of the different castes that were treated equally. Tell this to the Dalits of India. This presenter who so evocatively spoke in English is a product of a unifying education that was a gift from the British, because if the British never came, the Brahmins would have been the only ones educated. Which explains why people flocked to Buddhism, Islam and Christianity, because it levelled the playing field of life to a greater extent and not because they were bribed, or payed or inquisitioned as we are being made to believe. Why follow a backward looking religion of myriads of God's who cannot smell, yet they offer them flowers, who cannot eat, yet they offer them food, who cannot see, yet they light lamps before them. The blindness is not within the idols it is within the people who cannot see that these idols can do nothing for them, they are folklore of people of an ancient people that became the mores and folkways of illiterate people who made every thing they saw in nature a spirit and a God. Apologies are due from your Hindu Pope if you have one behinning with Sita as the first abused woman and womankind, followed by all those of the Shudra castes for the abuse endured by them at the hands of all castes above them to the point where even their shadow was anathema. Apologies are due to Gandhi for he was assasinated for his hindu faith and his belief that we are all Harijans, by a group of hindus. Where should we begin this litany of apologies and greviances, from centuries ago to the present, where a false nationalism and aa belief in a nonexistent civilization is destroying the secular fabric of India and seeks to destroy the constitution and the ideals for which hundreds of thousands laid their lives for us to be free from the yoke of colonaliasm. Go ahead destroy India, the Pakistanis and Chinese are waiting to splinter India into small nation states, just like we were before the colonialists came, we will invite them to fight our modern day Afil Shah's and Rajahs and Maharajahs. India if this foolishness persist will become worse than Africa, used and abusef by everynation under the sun, because of corrupt, greedy selfserving leaders, we are already halfway there. m.timesofindia.com/india/india-slips-in-corrupt-nations-list/articleshow/63036179.cms

That is part of it...the other part is more material. I think we all know what needs to be done. There has to be justice for the Dalits and then charity work for all other people.
Too often, we Hindus will stick to our families and not treat others with the same kindness when in our scriptures it tells us to have charity, compassion and justice.
A religion without charity cannot last. Civilizations collapse. Hindus have collapsed before and if we Hindus don't take care of the stranger, the down trodden, we will all fall.

Majority of north eastern states are under severe pressure and have converted to mostly Christianity. Conversion is happening in Assam where demography is changing in favor of Islam due to illegal immigration and persecution of Hindus in this day and age. And government it seems is either helpless or indifferent. It is also because of dishonest and anti national politicians as well as ignorant voters.

Thus reclaiming & recognizing our past history & set the record straight through history books & syllabus is more important than "Vikas" or "Saab Ka Saath Saab Ka Vikas" initiatives ..
Development without Self-worth is useless ...Self worth can only comes from our Civilizational philosophy & Identities.. Resurrection of past glory should be the initiative of any govt. in the centre

There is a remarkable difference between a large # of Muslims rather majority and Catholics of Goa. The Muslims of subcontonent glorify the invaders. Whereas the Goan Catholics have a rather objective outlook about Portugese. Whereas the Goan Catholics are more religious than majority of Muslims.

With all due respect ! Madame, as you mentioned " 5:12 " The Portuguese monarchy ended on the 5th October 1910, after this date there was no viceroy but a governor in Goa. Hence, Manuel Antonio Vassalo e Silva was not a viceroy but a governor, 1958 - 1961. " Period ."

Well done research but maybe there could be some facts not clear mainly 1) what was the lifestyle of all Hindus prior to the invasion? Were they united as one Hindu community? 2) what were the implications of inquisition on Muslims and their lifestyle. 3) How the so-called Vassal of Portuguese which consists of mainly Hindus who gained favours from the Portuguese by which they were given land etc and were not converted. She should have taken up these issues extensively, although she mentioned that in her answers that some Hindus were not happy with one another and that lifestyle needs to be elaborated to know exactly how life evolved among the Hindu community. Today the Hindu is empowered as compared to those times and telling him only one side of the story will make him ask for immediate justice as if there was total peace within them in those times.Which was not the case because of the very fact that Timoja took help of the Albuquerque because his people were not happy in those times. This is the most important factor or which Shows that Hindus invited the Portuguese into Goa with open arms and some ruled them through a proxy. So those who were driven out will write one story and those Hindus who were part of the Portuguese administration would write differently. Some will criticize Rajdeep Sardesai and laugh over it ...

      1. Hindus were doing good in all fields including trading across the seas.
      2. Hindus were united under on faith.
      3. Muslims came to India and got absorbed along with the original people. Initially there was violence but it subsided with time.
Those days much better than the Portuguese rule.

Will you agree that Christianity is not originated in Goa but imported?
Will you also agree that the Portuguese brought it Goa?
Today if you are told to convert to any other religion other than the one you are practicing will you convert?
Just imagine about the people of that era under what circumstances they were converted. It was forced on them. Hence they were going back to their original practices and resulted in establishing court of inquisition.

I m Goan hindu and whatever she said is true story of Goa ....my grand mother who lived in portugues era ...narrated same story ....that people were forcefuly converted ....our temples were destroyed and churches were built on it ....it includes Xavier church ....rosery church ...nd many churches ...the problem with goans is that most of the schools are run by Christians... they promote Catholicism ....and our goan history is not taught in goan books ....evn if u discuss such topic with Christian they wil nagate this and wil say we are proud catholic ....because agreeing to history means bringing bad name to Christianity and they wouldn't want it ....

If people of Goa had kept slaves or bonded labourers even before the Portuguese appeared on the scene, then we will need to apologise to those slave folks of ours..our history and our civilization..Apparently they escaped slavery by converting to Christianity..

India is a Secular Democratic Country. It was originally made up of Dravidians (dark people) in the South and Aryans (fair people) in the North. These people came over the Ghats they were Mughals. Due to the Nazi war the German Jews came to India. Mr. Schlesinger started the Indo-Pharma Pharmaceutical Co. The Tata's were Persian from Iran. Tata's owned Air -India and made the "The Little Maharaja" world renown. We had the Chinese come to India during Communism. The Burmese came over, Bangla design came over during the conflict in Pakistan. We had the Dutch East India Co.,. The British East India Co., The French, Spanish and Portuguese come to India. Indian Kings used to broker an alliance with them to defeat each other. The influence of these cultures helped Indian Migrants assimilate in these Countries. The Prime Minister of Portugal is of Goan decent he is from Margao, Goa. The Conquered rose to be the leader. The Kadambas were Jain. They originally ruled from Chandor it was the Golden Era in Goa, they traded with the Gulf Muslims. They did not trust the Hindu Brahmins but we're convinced to marry a Hindu Princess to control their Empire. What is Shefali's video where she mentions RSS meant to do? 1) Scare the Catholic Brahmins into converting back to Hinduism ? Shefali and your Friends need to leave 'Susegad Goans' alone. May the God of All Goans destroy the Evil doers. The woman of Goa and India should make sure that the old Barberic Traditions of SATI and other traditions are not revived by Shefali and her angry friends who are filled with hate and revenge. Leave my Goa alone! Get help for Your hate and Anger.
