I love Anne Tyler’s books but I’m not sure I can explain why. She affirms my feelings about home and family. She writes about relationships between family members and how people living together eventually (or never) learn to accept each others flaws. The Spool of Blue Thread is one of my favorites and it’s truly a love affair with house and home.
I have several of Michael Pennington's books. He has been on the stage for 57 years. I must reread the Hamlet book. I'm reading Shakespeare in chronological order this year.
I am an Anne Tyler fan, actually, although I didn't like Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant. You're right about it being a kind of comfort food. The Accidental Tourist was my first. What I like most about her novels are the characters, who seem real to me and aren't as outrageous as John Irving's characters. If you're looking for plot, though... Anyway, this can be the subject of one of my first Booktube videos. I'm launching this week!
Ivanhoe is amazing. I need to read the other Waverly novels

I am collecting the new Edinburgh edition of Scott as I find them at reasonable prices. His "The Antiquary" is a great book.
I have never read anything by Anne Tyler. 🤷🏼♀ The Faye Kellerman book sounds really good!
You find such excellent books at the Brattle. Both the after Tamerlane and Inheritance of Rome books look super interesting.
I love the whole series of the Stockwin books…. Similar to Patrick O’Brian’s Master and Commander series.

Great haul! I've only read The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler, and I didn't like it.
