Edna was the only one who believed in Bart , she’s the reason he turns out to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. She deserved so much better because people don’t realise what a good teacher she is
"She's the only reason he becomes Chief Justice of Supreme Court ".. WoW! Your so right, amazing details true fans connect. Thank you Marcia Wallace, great character growth acting 💐🕊
Edna Krabappel was one of the greatest characters in the series and her death not only struck the show but also probably the real world and out of respect the writers decided it’ll be best to retire her than to replace her 💔💚
Unlike Hoover, Edna actually loved teaching students. When she complained to Skinner, it was the lack of budget of the school and equipment she can use to teach. She gave Bart a chance by giving him a passing grade. A one step closer to become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. My only wish was she should've hooked up with Ned earlier. Edna deserved happiness.
My mom was a teacher for fifty years, she died last year...So many cards poured in from people I would never know or meet. All filled with memories of appreciation. Edna would have been give the same amount of respect.
I'm so sorry about your mothers passing. But it sounds like she was really loved by her students and made a huge impact in their lives. She must have been a wonderful teacher
My favorite line from Edna was when she was doing Sex Ed and showed the kids a tape on reproduction with two rabbits. The kids get grossed out and she's just standing in the back smoking a cigarette and goes "She's faking it" 😂
This is probably the first timeline of any show you’ve done that made me a little misty eyed at the end. Marcia Wallace was one of the funniest and talented voice actors and WOMEN of all time! They made the right choice with her character I kind of wish they did the same for Russi Taylor’s characters. Also the follow up from Skinner revealing he was a virgin is one of my favorite moments. “So that must mean Mrs Krabapple is a virgin too…” “HA!”
They did Edna right in so many ways, when watching as a kid, she was that tough teacher who you always thought was out to get you, but watching again as an adult, you can see she was always coming from a place of genuine care and wanting to teach. At my job I teach new hires, and try to remember if I can get through to one person, it's a success. Edna is an inspiration to all on why you should never give up on the 'loser' because they may end up surprising you and everyone when they find that stride!
Genuinely i was young when she died, but I was so attached to her and her character when she died i broke down in tears. I never even knew who she was but she reminded me so much of the teachers I love and adore. Im in college now, and if it wasn't for all those teachers who helped me deal with my mental blocks i would've never gotten here. Thank you to all the teachers like Mrs. K who actually care, you really do help and the kids you positively impacted will forever remember you fondly
The fact that Bart and Nelson to people who were the bane of the school staff and seemingly despised school would actually show any emotion at her passing just shows how good she truly was
Although her and Ned really grew on me I always felt like her and Skinner could of worked if the writers would just give Skinner a break. I know his character is the needy mummy's boy but like if he just had a back bone it could of worked...
Yes! They give Ned an arc where he learns to accept Edna’s past relationships, but they couldn’t give Skinner a back bone. They honestly made a lot more sense then Ned two, tbh.
Retiring her character was the best thing they could do for Edna. Just like Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure, she wouldn't have been the same with a different voice. "Bart the Lover" is one of my favorite episodes with her and it gave us the greatest first draft of a breakup letter ever - "Dear Baby, welcome to Dumpsville, population - You".
The only I could see her character appearing again is in flashbacks or she has a relative we didn't know about previously like Bleeding Gums Murphy having a deaf son in a more recent episode.
My favourite moment of Edna is the part where she try to ask bart what's the matter and that he was used to failing but told him that 59 is a high f to try to cheer him up and some how bart prove her wrong by telling her the history of George Washington
I love Edna. Though she was a cynical teacher in the beginning, we saw she was a wonderful woman who deserved love and was quite attractive! ❤ She will be missed as I nearly cried when I found out about her voice actress' Marcia Wallace's passing. Poor Neddy.
Edna is one of my favorite characters ever, she’s such a strong and sex positive character who was handled extremely well. This video and the history of her video by Therealjims made me cry as she is such an amazing character. You both did her right and I think one of my favorite moments with her aside from her famous teaching quote would have to be her passing Bart in Bart gets an F. I cannot express how much I love her character and her tributes are always so heartwarming. We’ll miss you Mrs.K
I loved the Graduate reference with Dustin Hoffman. Edna was so much fun. She's sorely missed. Seymour definitely wasn't a virgin with the public school joke, "they'll believe anything you tell them"
She was an amazing character and teacher, it was sad that she was lonely, but it was so sweet the relationships between her and her student, and it’s also sad that she passed away.💜
Your spouse leaving you for your marriage counselor is probably the most ironic thing I’ve Ever heard…that’s like ordering a Happy Meal and a guy dressed as Ronald McDonald steals it from you🤷🏽 Poor Ms.Krabappel😔💔
Thank you for this! Edna is a really underrated character but she has some of my favourite moments in the show, especially Bart’s breakdown when he gets an F. The chalkboard gag saying we’ll miss you always makes me cry and “if you can teach one kid one thing today will be a success” is a philosophy I’ve tried to adapt into my own life
I mean even Nelson muntz missed her after she died. That means alot, like she actually was a teacher who truly cared for her students even if she seemed sometimes like a mean person but still she cared for her students
The picture frame quote always gets me. I’ve never watched one of your timelines (and i’ve seen them all!) and teared up. This was magical, thankyou Lydia. Also I just got your book for xmas, can’t wait to read it
This series is so good! It never occurred to me how cohesive the lives of the secondary characters are from episode to episode, season to season. You do a great job of explaining that.
I'm glad the show just wrote off Edna after Marcia's death. Nobody could have replaced her voice, or should have. Poor Ned, though. He didn't deserve to be a 2x widower.
Thanks for making this video about Mrs. K, Lydia. Now I'm all weepy!!😭 My favorite moment would have to be where Bart was genuinely nice to her. Especially with leaving "We'll really miss you Mrs. K" on the chalkboard.
Edna was a brilliant written character, it's just sad that her actress died, and I'm just so happy that they retired the character in such a meaningful way.
Every moment on the show with Edna was a delight she was such a good female role model at times and it's sad to see someone who made such a big impact on everyone especially bad boy Bart Simpson to be gone
Edna was one of the most realistic charter! She first started her job loving it then slowly started to hate it! But she never gave uo especially with dealing with Bart!
Mrs Apple’s relationship mentoring Bart is one of the best things about the show. So good. Rest in the heavens, Marcia. Oops it autocorrected! Krabappel😊
I love Edna. She was one of the most grounded characters and she bought out the best in a lot of the Springfieldians. I got a little teared up at the end.
I miss her. My moments were she was arguing with Skinner for proper supplies for the children, showing her dedication, and standing up for herself when Skinner didn't want to marry her.
Edna was a good teacher. Most in her situation with Bart would've given up on the kid and say he's a lost cause. But despite their differences she stood by him no matter what.
Great video and fitting tribute not only on Ms. Krabappel but on Marcia Wallace the woman who voiced Edna she was an underrated actress. BTW I'm an Pen Pal 🎳
Totally, I love how the both the character and actor were almost blended in the tribute, and it's definitely inspired me to watch more of Wallace's work 💛 I remember her briefly in Teen Witch but wanna see more! thanks for joining! 🙏

I honestly don't get how I missed her death! She died in 2013! I was born in 2010 😭
