Yes, there are fishing restrictions depending on areas, size, amount of sea food per person per day etc. NZ fisheries manage sea food resources to ensure there is no over fishing which will deplete species completely etc

The area with the modern apartments is called Mount Maunganui, most people just called it the Mount.

You were in Mt Maunganui. Tauranga is not as 'buzzing' as it used to be. Everyone seems to go to the Mt, Bayfair and Papamoa, killing Tauranga business.

Love your content about my home town!!!! The markets and Mauao are in Mount Maunganui, or The Mount as its more affectionately known. The Historic village on the other side of the Harbour Bridge is Tauranga Moana or Tauranga City.

Umm actually Tauranga Moana is more than the Tauranga city centre's its the whole metropolitan area including the mount
You were at The Mount, you parked the car at Pilot Bay. I spent many Christmas holidays there. You mentioned that you were staying at Katikati. Makes me laugh when someone in NZ or Australia talks about our history as being old,i was in Quedlinburg in East Germany a few years back, found a house that was built in 907.
Awh we definitely know its still early days here for history haha. we've seen many places around the world also were people are still living in houses after 1000 years aswell! crazy! and europe goes back such a long time too.
