As a Cambodian investing in the US stock market, what kinds of taxes in the US and Cambodia will I have to pay? I did some quick research, no short-term capital gain tax in the US on foreign investors but there will be taxes on dividends. What if we keep the investment for 15-20 years from now? Any taxes to pay after a Cambodian sells and transfers back? Appreciate your input. Thanks.
From what I've found out, you'll pay 30% on the dividends, but none on capital gain and interest. This is only on the US side. On the Cambodia side, the government over there has not established taxation on capital gain from abroad yet as far as I know.
@@incometelligence Thank you so much for your reply. I watched a video of a UK investor. After filling out W-8BEN form, the US tax on the dividend of that UK investor is reduced from 30% to 15%. There may be a tax treaty between the two countries.
@@mamasheartforyou If there's a tax treaty, then it's 15%; at this time I don't think Cambodia has a tax treaty with the US.

Does American bank charge fee on that amount too? If so, the amount that we notify to broker will be unmatched. Am I right? Example: we pay ABA $15 to transfer $1000 to TD Ameritrade account,so we notify to broker $1000, but Correspondent bank will charge on that $1000 too?
TD doesn't charge any fees to receive your fund. If there's a charge, it would be only on your bank's side.
As in your video, at payment option I wonder if I should choose SHA or OUR? I need to send to IBKR account in USA and its account is in JD Morgan Chase bank. So does Chase bank charge my money or not?
Sir, my funds was transferred successfully. But the amount was deducted $20 after I chose payment method SHA

Any bank can transfer by wire, but their fee may be different.

Depending on when you transfer your fund, it may take up to 72 hours if you are in Cambodia.

Just wanna ask about account with td ameritrade, I have submitted all required doc, I got an email saying that I will get a welcome kit via postal mail and pin will be enclosed at an other envelop. But untill now almost 1month I did get any confirms from postal office in cambodia or and mail form td ameritrade. I have many time calls to td ameritrade but no one receive my calling, I called around 9 pm time in cambodia and robot automatics voice only and asking to wait for 1hour.... So I stopped. Can u give me an advice on that issue. Thanks
You have to call TD to get a pin number to access your account. There's no other way. People from Cambodia in my private group have no problem getting their pin number.
I called many time from Mon to Fri but only robot voice and waiting for lone time around 1hour, so we have to wait or how? I call 17718006693900 and then press * #2 ...but then waiting too long. Thanks

depending on the country you're a citizen of; in the US we have to pay taxes on the gain; there's no tax to just withdraw money, but banks and broker may charge a fee
So we have to have broker acc in USA if we want to buy USA stock right so How to open brokerage acc in USA when I’m in Cambodia?
Many Cambodians have successfully opened an account with TDAmeritrade and Interactive Brokers.

If you lose your job, how are you going to live? You need an emergency fund to live on until you find another job.

When I try to make an account on TD Ameritrade it said Cambodia isn't accepted/ listed. How did you create an account in Cambodia?
Go to open new account, individual or joint tenants; in Cambodia you cannot open the other types of accounts

NVM, I went to try to open an account and I think I understand. The Con about Ameritrade is that it doesn't trade fractional shares. Do you know of any good Online Brokers that are accepted in Cambodia that offer "Fractional Shares"?
interactive brokers, but it has a monthly maintenance fee; TD doesn't have one.
