Best thing about this scene is Harper uses her previous experience with a mismatched FX trade in season 1 to gain information, that she then uses to her advantage. Proof that there us learning ftom your mistakes.
Whole scene is a bit unrealistic though. You wouldn’t need to raise the foreign currency before doing the trade. You do that after when you know how much you need to buy. Even if her fund is GBP, she’d buy the US asset and then go out and buy the USD to settle it when she knows what price she got.
@@pejpmdisagree, you’d raise the dollar first. She’s trying to hedge against any risk with GBPUSD exchange rate by locking it in ahead of the trade. That’s naked fx exposure - you’re on the hook for buying $250m but don’t have it yet, forcing you to submit to whatever rate is in the market that day so you can book the trade. By buying it first, she eliminated that risk. Share price isn’t as relevant in this situation - she’s buying a target dollar amount of the stock ($250m), not a target share number. Not a question of “do I have enough money to buy the shares I want” it’s “how many shares will I end up with by spending $250m.” Naturally, she arrived at that investment amount by deciding a desired target price and ownership percentage of the company in the first place, so it really won’t be a surprise. The most important takeaway of this scene is... if you're a billionaire you can make an orchestra of human puppets sweat blood and dance for their lives in order to get some crumbs of your wealth while it's another stress-free day for you at the tennis club.
Explained: Harper (Girl who is trying to sell a trade to a client)gets info from a client (woman who wanted to buy 250 mil USD) over the phone in order to try and understand what move that client is making (she guesses that the client who is buying US dollars is going long on a US asset i.e. buying a certain stock). Harper then feeds this information to another client (guy at tennis court), who now wants to buy the same stock from the traders, since he knows someone else is about to purchase 250 million dollars worth of shares (guy at tennis court believes this will move the price of the stock up, so he wants to buy). The traders have 50 million shares of the stock on their books, and the argument they are having at the end is over the price the traders want to sell it at. Tennis player guy wants to buy at a lower price, $44 a share, but trader (Rishi, guy in white shirt) who has the stock wants to sell for $45 a share. At the end, they compromise and the tennis player guy agrees to buy 50 million shares from the traders books at $44.75 a share, AND the tennis guy wants the traders to buy an additional 25 million shares of the stock after market open at the same price. The tennis guy also says something about 25% of the ADV, (average daily trading volume), but I am not sure what this refers to.
He simply set the limit of the order volume to be no more than 20% of the average daily volume. So instead of executing the additional 25 mil buy at 44.75 in one hit (essentially showing his hand to the market), he orders the trader to work the order such that he is no more than 20% of ADV...so drip feeding into market vs coming out guns blazing. The 50 mil on the traders book would just be executed as a block trade and get crossed vs going on market.
That soundtrack is pure euphoria. Perfect to convey exactly how she must have felt at that moment. Electric, buzzing, full of serotonin. Well selected. Would love to know the source.

"I'm sick of commenting on the direction the wind. Shall we make it blow?" The icing on the cake of this scene for me is Rishi telling Harper "Really good shit Harper". Everyone was ripping on her earlier. I love how the team comes together when it matters, professionalism at its finest.
I was on a reading desk for years. I can give you a full run down hahaha it’s definitely like a foreign language. Basically stock prices and bond prices are correlated. How they are correlated depends on a wide range of factors. They (the firm) screwed up and the trader talked to the guy (on the tennis court) to be on the other side of the bet (trade) that way the firm (and the traders) could hedge (mitigate risk) on the position they opened prior. The lady the trader speaks with that gives her a “tick” means that she’s not messing around and her price is her price. So she plays her hand and tells the trader in a discreet way that she is planning to buy when the market opens (which is why the trader hangs up so quickly to try and locate inventory for her investor) she begins talking with the other trader who has an inventory of 50,000,000 or 5,000,000 bonds (not 100% clear what he meant by 50,000,000- either $ value or # of bonds) at $1000 a piece (bonds are priced in terms of $1000, so when the trader is quoting 45, he is willing to sell it at $.45 on the $ (a massive loss depending on where they bought in at) so when the guy on the tennis court says “Limit $44.75”, he is saying he is willing to buy the bonds at a maximum of $22,375,000, or 44.75% of $50,000,000, which means the firm is able to exit their position. Yes, at a loss, but the worst trades are the ones you hold too long. Better to cut losses and live to fight another day.
The explanation above is right but not for this scene. A few scenes before this one, is clear that this place PierPoint bought a block of shares for another client. They bought off $3.3Bn trade at a 3% discount. That is, as long as PierPoint can sell off this stage for $3.2Bn or more, they’ll make money. Apparently, at start of trading the trader (Rishi) is still holding 50mm shares currently valued at $45/sh, or approx $2.5 billion position that he needs to move off his books. The buyer (guy who was playing tennis) says he’ll buy all 50mm shares at $44.75/sh, so effectively the trader got to unload his entire $2.5Bn plus position at only a $12.5mm hit. Presumably they’ve already sold off the other $800mm to others ($3.3Bn less what he sold at the end) - so the $100mm total fee potential on this trade (3% of $3.3Bn) was largely retained, and they only lost $12.5mm on the trade - so the firm made nearly $88mm on that trade, plus whatever commissions the desk made on facilitating the trade for the buyer(s)

correct me if i'm wrong but the tennis player shouldn't have caught wind of the order for 250 Million US dollars from the other client that could artificially inflate the price of the supposed stock. The traders and sales people broke confidentiality by giving him that information and manipulated the market.
If you saw the episode, in the midst of losing the deal anchor (Fenmarsh Solutions), Harper kept persuading Jesse Bloom to do the deal. Although her peers thought it was ridiculous to persuade one of the biggest hedge fund managers in the world, Jesse eventually called her and took the block trade for Rican Healthcare
She aint a trader, shes a sales trader. The guy who sold the 50 million to her is the market maker which is a different form of trading and the guy at the tennis court is probably some portfolio manager or hot shot trader
"Yaz, I know that I always say that is a matter of urgency, but this really is a matter of urgency and I'm really sorry that I'm always in such a rush with you but I really need your help, I need access to Anna NOW"

Bit unrealistic. Doing the FX trade to settle the foreign asset would be done after the trade is filled. The idea that the head PM of a major hedge fund would be putting in FX orders just for settlement, much less that they’d know all the details of it, is a bit ridiculous. Equities settle T+2 so she wouldn’t need to raise the dollars ahead of the trade. Most trading systems literally have a button that would create the FX trade based on how many dollars they’d have to deliver, because they won’t know that until the equity trade is filled.
One logical problem here is that Jessie buys almost 2,250M (2.24B) worth of stock (50M x 44.75) after hearing that Anna is buying 1/10 that amount -- "only" 250M -- i.e. his order size was so much bigger than hers.

I'm looking for something I can venture into on a short term basis,I have$15k sitting in my savings
You're right, but a lot of people remain poor due to ignorance.
Not because of ignorance
It's because of the high rate of unprofessionalism in the crypto market
Honestly I'm surprised that this name is being mentioned here, I stumbled upon one of her clients testimony last week on CNBC news.
I'm so happy taking bold steps in working and investing$60k with Mrs Jessica chiara Russell after a 2months I received$250k to my bank account.
this is a price out. Client bid 44.5, she confirmed 50 million trade at her trader's offer at 44.75. She, and her firm are on the hook for a quarter point on 50 mil.
Very entertaining, just business, nothing personal
One of the best industry parts from season 2 so far
Holyshit.. season 2 is out😲😲
Pls, what's the name of the movie
@@drpresholaIt's a TV series called industry on hbo
We need more seasons of this series

I can’t believe I heard about this series on UA-cam,love it
Same!
Where can i watch it in full ,on youtube its just cut clips
@@wallstreetkid805 it’s not on UA-cam try BBC
Such a great scene!
I could watch these actors working in a fish and chip shop! So brilliant
Look at that, this guy at 00:10 was just on my screen playing the assistant US attorney prosecuting against Redington in "Red". Busy, busy, busy, ain't he??
The Asian guy is the same guy from Rush Hour - The iconic Chinese villian
man I knew I had seen him somewhere before!!!!!
Juntao?
@@OS1540Yeah
I don’t understand any of the finance lingo! But absolutely loved this show! Never seen anything like it before. I would love a version of this based in a hospital but young newly qualified nurses, doctors, pharmacist etc
She's not a trader but a sales.
That’s institutional trading they don’t use charts
No she in sales (I had the same job as sales-trader at an IB). Executes on behalf of the client and sits between the client and the banks own flow trader. Whether they use charts or not is irrelevant.
Yes, she's a multi asset class sales. She doesn't trade.
Ya, Rishi Ramdani is the trader who Harper keeps pleading for a better price
I really liked season 1 but this scene made me LOVE this show. Pure adrenaline and stress I was hooked. Anyone not watching Industry is missing the best show on tv right now
Nah.
How is Season 2 ? In S 1 it was boring as they were fighting and creating chaos, only this scene was the highlight
that indian fella is now PM
😂
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
😂
YO 😭
She's not a trader, she's sales.
sales trader
correct me if i'm wrong but the tennis player shouldn't have caught wind of the order for 250 Million US dollars from the other client that could artificially inflate the price of the supposed stock. The traders and sales people broke confidentiality by giving him that information and manipulated the market.
AKA INSIDE TRADING. IT'S ILLEGAL.
Like that doesn't happen on daily basis!
@@CaptainNippon no it's not, it's frontrunning, very common practice
@@charlieswift1299 Frontrunning is having insider information not publicly available on a trade. That presents an unfair advantage and it is illegal.
@@tomy4453 im sure you'll see in the next few episodes (spoilers); that what you're saying does indeed become a problem that blows up.
I could imagine Roaring Kitty making a mockery of this scene while he's counting his millions😂😂
Love it. Anna position was brilliant
How is that not considered frontrunning (which is illegal)?!?
Actually, front-running is not illegal. However, the deception to get privileged information from Anna is definitely unethical.
@@MrSunrise-gm5neit is illegal.
The music and sound design in Industry is top tier 👌👌
I can't get over this scene! Love it! The music, the acting and emotion.
Movie name please
so shes a hero for saying 'ok he doesnt have 75 but hell do 50 now and 25 later for a different price' lmao
If you saw the episode, in the midst of losing the deal anchor (Fenmarsh Solutions), Harper kept persuading Jesse Bloom to do the deal. Although her peers thought it was ridiculous to persuade one of the biggest hedge fund managers in the world, Jesse eventually called her and took the block trade for Rican Healthcare
haters gonna hate
everytime i see Eric i always see the image of him playing juntao in rush hour lmao
I’m always reminded of the prick man in X-men Last Stand😂
@@Mandon97 lmao I remember, one of the most useless abilities to have
Character was actually "Sang" in Rush Hour. Juntao was the British boss man, played by Tom Wilkinson
I just rewatched Rush Hour last night and now I came across this video and had the same thought!
ngl, I never noticed him in other roles, but was blown away by his acting as well as his accent in industry
QUEEN!!! U get dat bag girl. Wer can i see dis documentry? Black Exelence!!

season 2 out? Im on it!!!
Loved this scene and really glad to see Harper get the Win!💪🏾💪🏾
That was amazing and now I need to go watch this show 😄😄
Harper did all that hard work as a new comer and the company still end up firing her
"sad ending"
Alemio Network's presale got me hooked - the coolest way to be part of a groundbreaking project. Let's go!
That compliment from Rishi made her even more emotional.
I don’t know if I’m wrong but Harper is not a Trader she is a Sales
What's the name of the show & where can i watch it
Industry.... Its on HBO
aside from the illegal frontrunnign and sharing clients names on a recorrded line - its kinda close to reality
Frontrunning is not illegal though
I have no idea about every single word that came out of their mouths
Its similar like this in IT, all of us fresh graduates trying to land that role with FAANG, deepwatch, Talos, etc.
Emotional efficiency: guiding you through the steps of the refund procedure
She aint a trader, shes a sales trader. The guy who sold the 50 million to her is the market maker which is a different form of trading and the guy at the tennis court is probably some portfolio manager or hot shot trader
Its strange I have absolute no idea what is happening but I somehow do at the same time.........
"Yaz, I know that I always say that is a matter of urgency, but this really is a matter of urgency and I'm really sorry that I'm always in such a rush with you but I really need your help, I need access to Anna NOW"

@@taha7538yeah I still really enjoyed it but not as much as the first one. Certainly thought the last couple of episodes were a bit rushed.
fyi she is not a trader she is in sales pitching an idea to a buy side firm(she is sell side) rishi is the trader who does execution(and market maker sets the spread on bid ask..) so again she aint a trader.
i kinda get the whole scene and yet confused at the same time.... basically everyone in the trading office knows the certain stock is going to shoot up in value then why are they selling it to the tennis guy?
They are making him buy that stock right before it shoots up. Not sure though
Jesse is doing well in Butler, NC 😏
Awesome video! I have a separate question: I have the OKX Wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (job priority warm lab border boil monkey manage palace fiber weird ask). Could you explain how I transfer them to Binance?
i can't wait till this show ends
Banging scene but isnt this front-running/market manipulation? Feel like the FCA would be up your arse if you did this irl

I know of Expert Naomi
This scene is so good!
