Why can't people just say "an amazing songwriter"? Do you understand how unreasonable it is for pretty much anyone to identify the greatest songwriter of all time? Have you listened to all the songs, in all the nations, in all the different languages?
That cover of Farewell Transmission surely found Jason Molina through the static and distance wherever he may be, and streak blood across his beak. Amazing. We still miss you!
I've seen Katie so many times because she seemed to always be the default opener for indie bands when they would come through Philadelphia and she was living here. I've seen her when it was just her and her guitar, I've seen her with her full band as the headliner, I've seen her join other acts on stage as backup and every time I've seen her she's just been amazing.
Saint Cloud was a life-changer for me in 2021. Learning that Katie/Kevin are Jason Molina fans blew my mind. Thanks guys. Love your music. The power of music can never be underestimated, more now than ever!
Farewell Transmission is such a powerful song. And as is often the case on this show, the Tiny Desk version is even better than the recorded version. The recorded version does justice to the original. Here Kevin and Katie don't merely do it justice, they elevate it. Molina's compositions shine in this stripped-down format. I'd love to hear a Tiny Desk version of Dark Don't Hide It.
'Bring it to life' ...poor choice of words. Their version, while lovely in it's tribute, shows how difficult it is to spin those 3 chords into a captivating 7 minute song - which Jason Molina did effortlessly.
You both are amazing together, I get goose bumps and the hair stands up on my arms when I hear this recording. P.s. I think I must of listened to this recording 100 times during this pandemic. Thanks! I hope to se you both live soon.
My laptop speakers totally throw a wobbler on Katie's high notes on 'Fire'. Plugged into my big speakers, though, it all sounds lovely - it's a gorgeous song, love it
Love how two great artists could collaborate, cover other songs and then make them great. I thought I liked Farewell Transmission before this performance. Now I like everything and everyone more. Y'all just made my day!
This song has been floating around in my background and finally just landed for me. Landed soft and sweet, and so powerful just when i needed it. Have not found as poetic of a song i loved this much in many years. Theres a magic to the 2 of you signing it together. THANK YOU!!!!
She has the charm of a sad cactus - I feel the need to hug her, but wouldn’t dare... - I’d plant her as my last line of defense against zombies on air-balloons. - I loved when she finally smiled 13:56 Either the voice in her head doesn’t tell her good things, or she has more than one; - but then: who hasn’t? I’m projecting too much as usual, and this all says as much about me, as it says about the first impression I had of her. Edit: God, she is beautiful. Can someone make a song out of this? Or is “Sad Cactus” more the name of a band than the name of a song?

RIP Jason Molina. Easily one of the greatest songwriters of all time and such a tragic loss.
So true

@@jameslatin2939 what an incredibly pretentious thing to say .
@@Greg_Olinovitch Unnecessary? Definitely. Pedantic? Maybe. But pretentious? No. You should look the word up in the dictionary.

PS Elliott still rocks
I listened to that Songs: Ohio CD probably 300x in a row in college in Kansas when it came out. It’s a pleasure to hear these 2 sing it.
I passed here to send some love for the people who keep Jason Molina Alive through his songs. Thank you kindly ❤
i listen to this at least once a week. kevin's voice is butter.
These two introduced me to the music of Jason Molina, and for that, I am eternally grateful :) may this video send more people that way.
And their Molina covers are what introduced me to Waxahatchee (and Kevin's stuff, and Swearin')
I love these two so much. Props to Morby - he's been singing about injustice for years (Beautiful Strangers, Been to the Mountain).
Honestly cry every time I hear her voice but like in a good way lol.
Waxahatchee's been doing that to me for 10 years.
same here
This song gives me absolute chills every time.

I fell in love with her music more recent and found out morby is her husband who I’ve loved for years. Weird yet they belong together for sure!!
He’s great, she’s great...together they’re perfect
Jason Molina cover ❤. Thank you both so much, your really get him ❤️. The rest was great too.
Great stuff for quarantine. Loved Waxahatchee's most recent record, these stripped back renditions are cool too. RIP Molina
this Songs:Ohia cover is absolutely brilliant, wow. their two voices go so well together, and they really do justice to this beautiful song
Katie is right there with Florence and Sia as the most special voices of my lifetime. What a treasure.
Hey, if you're not aware of Hop Along / Frances Quinlan, I think you'd find it's in your wheelhouse.
@@DanielTalsky of course, Bark Your Head Off Dogs is one of my favorite records of the last five years

I had no idea Farewell Transmission was originally Molina's, what an absolute masterpiece. I think Morby and Crutchfield really bring it to life.
