Awesome video! For me, I tend to favor the tightrope and bassdope finesse jigs. A buddy of mine likes to fish black jigs in really clear water. He gets bites when others aren’t. Hard for me to wrap my head around, cause I usually throw white or G. Pumpkin in those conditions. Again, great video!
Caught my pb on a jig w pork trialer mid summer hot as can be saw a patch of grass mid lake tossed out to it about 40 feet away slowly bringing it back but id lifts it off the bottom and let it drop down. I feel a tug thought i was hung up on something at the bottom like weeds but continue resting as i reel it in got about 10 feet from the boat and pull up on the rod a huge bass. I pulled it into the boat took a few pics released er
Just came across your channel. Great content for us that have fished our whole life but never really knew what we were doing and just getting into bass fishing. #100percentwatchsquad
Hank - can you give a quick summary of what depths you use certain weights at on the FOOTBALL jigs? I normally start with 1/2oz everywhere on a football, but I am curious what depth you bump up to a 3/4 or even 1 oz?
#100%watchsquad I have never caught a bass on a jig unless it was a chatter bait and I don't fish jigs much but I will try to this year. My lake is mostly mud and grass with wood.
Funny, winter fishing for a lot of you is on a boat in the middle of a lake..winter fishing for us Canadians is in the middle of the lake sitting in a shelter ice fishing😂
Sometimes it isn't about what you CAN do, but what the bass want. Sometimes they want a fast fall, sometimes slow fall, sometimes glued to the bottom, etc.
Ain’t much difference of s fall rate between a 1/2 oz and a 3/8 when you include a skirt, weedgaurd, and trailer… there isn’t anything you can’t do w a 3/8that you can do w a 1/2.. u can make it fall faster by putting a denser plastic on it.. the only thing you may not be able to do is get it wedged as bad in between rocks like a 1/2 oz will- which is also a lot of times why they tell you to go heavier, so you snag more and lose more and buy more… oh also I heard heavier baits cast further 😮😂
If we were talking 5/8 > 3/8 .. there’d be room for discussion… but a 1/4 oz different on a structure jig… hardly a difference…I prefer 3/8… can work it slower, and let some of the water impart action
You’re a jigmaster Hank, and I am with 💯 🎣 your area lakes are jig paradise for sure…. I love those TFO Rods too😜👊👍😎

Just came across your channel. Great content for us that have fished our whole life but never really knew what we were doing and just getting into bass fishing. #100percentwatchsquad
Hey thank that’s a big compliment! Welcome
I have learned so much from you..amazing ..can you tell us who taught you how to bass fish or are you self taught???
Self Taught.

So there will be a lot of overlap due to fall rate but this is a good rule of thumb. 0-15ft 1/4oz 5-20ft 3/8's 10-25ft 1/2oz 20-40ft 3/4 and 30+ 1oz
Hey Todd let me know if ya get your gear!
#100%watchsquad I have never caught a bass on a jig unless it was a chatter bait and I don't fish jigs much but I will try to this year. My lake is mostly mud and grass with wood.

LOL Thanks.
You can't tell me that I can't do the same thing with a 3/8oz. jig that you do with 1/2 oz.. jig. Tell me I'm wrong!
I don't think I ever said that. I can get just a little deeper with a 1/2 but every weight, head, and color has a different use.
Sometimes it isn't about what you CAN do, but what the bass want. Sometimes they want a fast fall, sometimes slow fall, sometimes glued to the bottom, etc.
