funiculars are like mountain trams playing it safe. instead of just hanging off nothing but a thin cable it goes on a smooth inclined track instead. i never been on a funicular before but was lucky enough to go on a mountain cable car! yea the dangling and swaying is kind of scary but thats what makes it fun! almost feels like being on a miniature plane ride. im sure funiculars can be fun in their own rights too though. especially those super steep ones! :D
Does anyone know if around the world there are other rack railways equipped with points (turnouts) of the type designed by the Swiss engineer Roman Abt? Even the gauge (1200 mm) of the Principe - Granarolo rack railway makes it look like a classic single-track funicular with two balanced cabins that cross halfway at the loop. Even on official documents, the Principe - Granarolo rack railway is often referred to as a "funicular"!

Beautiful part of Italian history.Just appreciate much cause locals kept that kind of way of transport.I don't mind if it is only for tourists but it is still nice to see it.
These facilities aren't for tourists but mainly for locals, in fact the tickets you need to use them are the same for all the means of transportation the town own, of course tourists can use them too...
Traveling to liguria just to visit genoa is like hiring a pornstar to hold your hands... Liguria is full of great places, genoa is just a shitty big city...poisoned, crowded... not as bad as metropolis like milan, but close to them
Le funicolari della nostra Zena ❤️

We also have a lot of public elevators as Castelletto west, Castelletto East, Principe-D'Albertis, Magenta-Crocco and many more
You should try also “ascensore montegalletto” in Genova! It changes from a funicular to an elevator at midway
Done! ua-cam.com/video/YZfcRI03NEI/v-deo.html
Great video and nice variety of trains!

Ho fatto quel percorso centinaia di volte coi miei bambini. E' una meraviglia.
Beautiful. You must visit the Genoa Casella mountain railway too, it's a real dream
I know but I was running out of time...
@@ErebosSan You need an entire day for that mountain railway... it's worth it!

I live in Genova and i often take funicolare for school or other obligations. It is very beautiful and interesting.
It's not just for tourists only. Locals here in Genoa often take funicolare or the rack railway in daily life when they are going to run errands
@@micheles.3976 That is good
