  • A mid 1800s schooner has been discovered in deep water off the southern shore of Lake Ontario near Oak Orchard, New York. Shipwreck enthusiasts Jim Kennard and Dan Scoville finally located the old schooner after a search effort that took them more than 5 years.
Two ships collided at night during a blinding snow storm sinking the schooner C. Reeve

    No
Daggerboards are boards that extend through the keel. Ships built after the 1820's did not use the daggerboad concept. Some used a pivioted centerboard. The C. Reeve did not use a daggerboard or centerboad. The hull extended farther into the water than earlier built shallow draft ships that would need a daggerboard or centerboard.

Too bad about all those zebra mussels. Twenty years ago none of them would have been attached to the ship. All brought in by foreign sailing vessels.

@xvoy2002 Thanks to careless European ships.
