as someone who list my sight only a year ago, I've found that being around other VIP's really helps me. It's one of the only times I feel "normal" again. It's a good way to beat the isolation and they all just get me. It's a good idea to look for local charity groups that may have coffee mornings. In my case it was my mum that forced me to go to one as I was very depressed and just knowing that I am around people that are or have gone through similar experiences really helps.

I know what you mean. Being visually impaired since birth, being with people you can relate to feels energizing

I was born with primary congenital glaucoma but they didn't find out that I had it until I was three years old so in the first three years of my life. I've lost quite a bit of sight and at the age of 18 the glaucoma took the sight in my left eye completely I am now 35 years old and still deal with all of those feelings even now for the most part I am okay but I still have those days just like you said I often think what life will be like when I completely lose my sight but I guess it'll be much like it is now I will just get up and leave each day to its fullest I'll just cherish the little bit of sight I have now though it is dwindling and again I know I've told you this before I just want to thank you for your videos they are so uplifting and helpful so Keep On Keepin On😊😊😊

Thanks for all your good advice, some of it comes in handy. I have come to terms with a lot of changes in my life, although I am visually impaired & not completely blind, I still have bad days, and it's comforting to know I'm not on my own! Thanks again 😊

I’ve been losing my sight due to keratoconus. I’m an academic and it’s unnerving thinking of all the ways my job has gotten harder. You said it- I’m angry and sad.

I definitely understand what you mean. And thank you for sharing that you are angry and sad. So important to share what we are dealing with. I'm sure there are things that can help you accommodate different things, but it's first important to face the hard things we feel. Thanks for the comment!

We all in this position have those days and we need to own those feelings, but coming back to the reality of our life to make the best of what we have and be grateful.

Hi Derek - yes I loved your video. I am going through some serious things right now with my eyes. I am a senior and retired. I have glaucoma and have had it for going on 14 years now. I found out recently that I have epiretina membranes. The combination of both the glaucoma and the epiretina membranes is something pretty serious. I am seeing both a glaucoma doctor and a retina specialist surgeon. Both floaters and flashing light are occurring. My glaucoma is stable but I have been told that surgery for the membranes could wreak havoc with the progression of the glaucoma. Also I am experiencing dry eye disease. My eyes are alway blurry and sore. On drops for the dry eyes. The culmination of all this has me so totally concerned and worried that I am at some point I am going to lose my vision. There are changes in my vision now. Floater and flashers and I feel major changes in my eyes. I am so scared I am going to lose my vision. I am in a need to talk to someone that has gone through it all. My right eye is worse then my left. Both glaucoma and membranes in both eyes. As a result of this I am having a lot of feelings you mentioned. Just so scared at the my vision going. Thank you for your video. It helps to hear others go through it and I realize even now that I have to start now to deal with it. Thank you.

I often go through changes on a routine basis but the only thing that provides me comfort is my spirituality and my belief that we were all made unique. In God eyes we are perfect and his opinion is the only one that should matter to us. Just my opinion! 😂

I am visually impaired due to cerebral palsy I'm near sighted and my vision gets worse every year and I go through the stages of grief often. I had many surgeries on my eyes but none of them helped me see better apparently they are just to staighten them when I was hoping that the last one would help. I tend to like to write down my feelings and if I want someone to know I'll let them read it. It been hard my glasses got broken by someone and it's been a year now

It must be difficult going through that! You should definitely be able to read your text using different screen readers and try to keep your side as much as you can and as long as you can, my heart goes out for you
