    Maternity leave is never a vacation. Its time given to heal your body from the pain while giving birth to a baby via normal birth or c section surgery. It's a time given to stabilise the body back to normal while taking care of the newborn. Plus newborns are more sensitive and need to be handled with care. Loved how the boss encourage the other female colleagues. 👌

      6 months are more than enough to heal after child birth(Doctors suggest 4 weeksb, max 6 weeks r enough to return)
      Don't get me wrong, but an extended maternity leave can effect a women's career negatively (no matter how much we try to change it)

    • @Harpreetk96
      @Harpreetk96 Рік тому +28

      @@shreyarajput-singha5908 yes. I agree. In India gives 6 months leave but in some foreign countries max 3 months maternity leave. My company gave me only 2 months of maternity leave not more.
      2/3/6 month leave is not a vacation as shown in the video where the men was literally saying it is a vacation and if they have opportunity they will go for it. Technically it is wrong in saying that. Many people assume maternity leave you enjoy after giving birth but its not true. Every single thing from living behaviours, priority,sleep, time, and etc changes, Never the same.

    Women supporting other women at work- now that's the real women empowerment. Indira Nooyi once said in one of her speeches - "If a woman is excelling in her office, her female colleagues should be happy for her". 🤗

      yes absolutely! And in broad prospect, everyone should be happy for each othr. isn't human a social being and sociality means interacting and sharing emotions? But leave men, here a woman becomes the prime obstacle. They do stuffs like bitching, mocking and what not! Whatever you said has become a mere dream now!

      @@leenasingh I do agree with you. However, as said "only wearer knows where the shoe pinches," a woman who has undergone and crossed all such hurdles can understand fellow woman's feelings and difficulties as depicted in this movie. Present day corporate has "dogs eat dog" culture, hence woman can hardly expect any cordiality at least from men or youngsters because of competition and one-upmanship.

    Let me take a moment and share my maternity leave experience.
    I work in a big4 firm. Usually we have lot of work. But the company is very much employee friendly. I was promoted and given a very good hike when I was on my maternity leave. Even after returning, I was asked if I needed more time and can take up the full time role. I was ready and took the work. My teammates, manager all are very good and understanding professionals. Blessed to have such a balanced work life even after being a mommy.

      That's not fair to say the least. I just hope, due consideration starts being given to the health and wellbeing of new mothers. Yes, while in the US, have seen many young mothers return to work very soon, post delivery. Definitely, the male colleagues should be sensitized with the aspects of having a new mum join back the workforce, if the workplaces actually aim to cultivate a healthy work environment. Women are definitely not a minority, particularly in the IT sector, hence deserve fairness.

Taking care of a tiny human being and working at the same time is not easy, we women go through a lot of self doubt and on top of that there are few people who don't miss a chance to make you feel like you were on a vacation during the maternity leave. Thank God that there are intelligent and compassionate policy makers in our country who have given ample amount of time as maternity leave to the women of India. No one (my line managers) was listening to me that I wanted more challenge and better pay, instead they were telling me how I was going to make up my missed work hours when I requested to finish work at 4 instead of 5:30pm. i faced this too at my work ..when I came after maternity leave,just after 3 months of my delivery..its already a mixed feeling, that guilt of leaving your baby and excitement of joining back your position at work ..while your body is still healing..but everyone around us is out of that caring zone. Postpartum depression is a harrowing situation. Sleepless nights, early mornings, baby guilt and work environment.I used to feel that I did a big mistake planning my baby and lost my growing carrier..it was hard making my space again in my own office. my heart cried but no one was there to understand. But I never gave up. Yes my career went almost 2 years backstep but today i have regained my position and got a promotion too..Ladies just give some time to yourself and others..don't think of giving up..with time you will learn to handle work and babies comfortably.
