Some tips:
Put the salt on only after pouring on the vinegar. You're just washing the salt off doing it the other way round.
Don't bother using white wine vinegar. Just use standard white vinegar (or whatever you have).
Sounds like a logical appliance of science. It's acetic acid that's found in every vinegar that is the cleaning agent. Also the salt will adhere and dissolve in the liquid, instead of falling into the sink.
Top Tip!
Watching him clean off the burn mark is so satisfying, I don't know why.
Same

+imhangry after an hour the zinc with be leached out and your. pots will be left silver color.
oh ...so easy n wonderful...tq
Yeah this is so satisfying to watch
I just tried this and I can't believe how it made my old copper omelet pan shine like the sun! Thank you for posting this!
Hi Dave, really appreciate you taking the time to post this video, brilliant. Just a note though, I laid kitchen roll over my pans and soaked that in vinegar, it cringed to the sides, or just press it on, it saved a lot of vinegar running away. Also if you put vinegar into a jar or whatever and mix with salt, wait until the salt dissolves then pour that over the kitchen roll. Leave for awhile it then comes clean easier. Thank you again.
Will try this method next for bottom of frying pan as nothings cleaning the bottom so far no matter how much salt vinegar and scrubbing 😅
Something that may save even more vinegar: Put the vinegar in a spray bottle. Saves having the extra drenched in a towel or roll, and works great!
My grandmother always saves her used lemons for this purpose. Scrubbing your copper with half a lemon dipped in salt with give you the same results and be gentler on the pan!
Worked like a charm! You are a wizard, Dave! This trick completely shone up some of my family heirlooms! Thanks a million!!!
Remember: always use the green scrubber for the copper pans you want to ruin with scratch marks.
This is one of the best how to videos on the internet. Prove me wrong.

DO NOT DO THIS WHEN YOU HAVE A CUT ON YOUR HAND
wear gloves
Why?
Gaming_Star_ Boy its burns
correct
wear gloves or tell someone else do it for u
So basically use a pickle. Good idea! I'll have to try this.
Cheers, straight to the point. I have an ornate looking copper bottomed Karahi I bought ages ago thats been sitting in the cupboard for a while, which I swapped out for a brutish looking cast iron one, and the copper is not too pretty on the bottom. I think I might just use it to place at the center of the table if I get it looking smart again (which is now what I suspect it was intended for in the first place).
Upon seeing this, I immediately tried it, except I used salt and plain white vinegar. It worked. I've used so many cleaners and this one finally did it. Thank you.
Thanks Dax! I used sea salt and rice wine vinegar 🍶 since that’s what I had on hand. SOS pad and a little scrubbing cleaned my copper serving plate right up! Amazing
SOS? Didn't it scratch?
Good as new! thanks for sharing this cool cleaning tip!
Wow just tried, can’t believe it worked like MAGIC. Thank you so much 👌🌺
Excellent tip. Worked like a charm. I had to leave it for 15 min
Used this to clean up the copper contact plate of an ooold (15+ years) PC water cooling block. Was a bit sceptic at first but this worked perfectly. Just applied a very light coat of mineral oil afterwards to prevent it from tarnishing again... or at least slow it down
This worked really well to a extent.. I had to substitute white vinger with lemon juice & them malt vinegar.. my stew pot has done quite well still lots of marks but big improvement. My frying pans still mega bad though apart from few areas. The bottom is thick black an most sides. Wish I'd known bout this years ago.. they kinda come back matt copper than metallic shine when knew but still great to see improvement on such expensive pans ❤🎉
Now I wish I had some dirty copper pans
XtrAMassivE You can put a copper pan on a bathtub of water for a long period of time. It could make the pan turn to a dark gold color also known as rust. Thank me later.
Why donchya buy some then, pardner?
Thank you for the demonstration I will try that. My problem is the lining of my old very heavy Villedieu, France copper pan that is clean when I start roasting, but after, when I started to wash the interior, I noticed that the lining is tarnished. My sponge blackened as well during the cleaning, the way a cloth blackens after polishing silver. I am concerned. Thank you, David, from Brooklyn, NY
Well done. Nice brief video, straight to the point
Bless you! I’m cleaning copper jewelry right now, super helpful sir!!
Now clean the handle. Lol
Thanks for this tip,
you saved me so much time.
Sincerely
Very impressive, and no harsh chemicals. Thanks for this, Cheers from Australia
thanks for tip
Thanks! It looks easy and the results are great.
Wow!!! it really worked. Thanks so much Dave for sharing!
Brilliant stuff mon ami. Merci, and thank you.
Wow, what a simple but good tip, Thanks!
That was REALLY helpful for my grandma!!
This is one of the first times I knew the trick before Dave posted it ! I feel like I'm Einstein ;D
hahahah yeah made my day
Just now got done doing this myself. Thanks for the demonstration.
Putting the salt down first gives a layer of little road blocks that can then "absorb" the vinegar. If you put the vinegar down first it will just pour off of the pot bottom. Salt first just like you did is best.
You can also make a paste using flour salt and vinegar which you can smear on which stops the salt and vinegar running off.
this is very useful!! I been trying so hard to clean up my pots Thanks to this not anymore!
This worked a treat for me, thanks!
Awesome video. This will help me with any non-wire copper.
So beautiful. If i known how easy it was to clean i would buy more
Thanks! This way really help.
Some people post ways, but it doesn't work.
This REALLY came in handy thanks a lot!
this video makes me satisfied
I love copper items, it's just so nice how they patina. Even though, after a while the patina is too much.
But what's the fun in a treated copper item that just stays shiny?
I've got this untreated copper pen, and it develops patina so quickly; after a week it's brownish and I kind of like it . If I want it to be shiny again for a while I'll use this method (but without the scrub sponge, as I don't want scratches...)
It worked!!! Half the time and half as messy as ketchup! Thank you 👍
Thank you for sharing Dave. Take care.
worked perfectly and within few seconds to bring back the shine to my copper bracelets, supper happy :)
Great to hear!
Classical ione exchange reaction
NaCl(s) + CH3COOH(aq) ----> CH3COONa(aq) + HCl(aq)
Dissociation reaction:
Na^+ + Cl^- + CH3COO^- + H^+
CH3COONa can also be writen like NaAc which means sodium acetate. :)
This worked like magic. Thank you!!!
Worked like a charm!😮😊
Yep do not do this with a cut on your hand, just found out. Talk about rubbing salt into the wound, add vinegar and the word PAIN! is very real. Wear gloves and your ok! fantastic results with very little effort, thanks Dave.
Magnifico Dave!!!!!magnifico!
Works just with copper or other metals too?
Awesome !!! Really works so good!! Thank you fo sharing
Hey there, I have got a tarnished and cracked (liquids leak out) silver shaker, don't know what to do with it, any suggestions what to do with it ?
Best regards, keep up with your amazing life hacks :D
Thank you for sharing your demonstration.😊
Awesome... simply awesome... Thanks a lot for this amazing video!!! Keep it up!!!
I have a little copper coffee pot, and I was using it to boil water, but forgot about it on the stove. When I got back, the water was completely evaporated and the pot had some discolouration.
I used salt and white vinegar to wash as per this video, and the outside looks good again, however the inside looks a bit different ? Sorta discoloured ?
Since it has been cleaned, is there any health downside to using this pot again ?
Thanks for the video!
great video!
Just got a set of the same copper pot as you are using. Do you know anything about them? I found them on a flea market but the seller didn't know what the brand or where it was made.
thanks!
This is much more simple than ways I've found to clean bronze. Will this work to remove tarnish from bronze and give it a good shine?

Hi Dave I love your videos
Quick question/ I have a few pieces of hammered solid copper with silver accents: will this technique be safe on both metals ? I wouldn’t want to ruin them
your a life saver!! thank you!!
Thank you so much for this I was able to clean a 1914 one Penny piece and now it looks good as new
Wow, the most productive 90 seconds I spent in my life.
Thanks man I’ve been trying to clean off my dads pan forever this helped
Very good! Do you have any if we want to turn something that had a gold color back to its original color? I have this necklace that I really love and it's not real gold, but it has a gold-like color and lately it has started to get the color of the rust. Thank you, in advance :)
I love your videos also i suscribed. That was very cool!😉
amazing Dave
That's soooooo amazing!!!
OMG! I NEED TO TRY THIS!
Wow. Great video!
Great video and tips. I just cleaned my copper mixing bowl I’ve bought at the flea market. Not sure what do do about the handles though. They are very dark like the handles of the pot on this video, think it is some other material. Didn’t see you scrubbing them. Should I leave them as they are?
Oh, wow I just saw this video is 9 years old, I might not get a reply. 😆
Lovely, thank you so much!
Green scrubber scratches the copper. Lots of videos about cleaning copper...but too few about the oxidized tin lining which I thought this video would show. Like commenters suggestion of making a vinegar and salt solution and soak a paper towel in it it. The man who retinned my pot suggested Twinkle and that works very well for copper and brass.
Thank you I had excellent results even made us open my next the vinegar together hai că înclin e coffee pat dat seamăn my neighbor gave me
nicely done
maan you are a bloody genus !
Great, and so much better than using that copper cleaning powder stuff. Also, a half lemon with salt works the same as the vinegar (due to the acidity.) Thanks.
Nice 1 thanks....nice and easy but very effective!
superb bro well done
Stay awesome Dave!
