kind of insane to see the shape Freddie has it end on is almost the exact shape we see pep, arteta and klopp have their teams shift to when attacking. Only real tweak is you wouldnt see both fullbacks up that high but even then essentially it’s the same winning formula.
My Spurs pals don't understand it when I tell them that anything Arsenal achieve in the future is a bonus. I was lucky to follow GGs Arsenal as a boy...and then Wenger came along. Supporting The Arsenal has been a privilege.
back in this area, as a Liverpool fan you admired Arsenal. I miss this era for them. They had a team of captains through the late 90's and early 2000's I miss those days. A real team of hard men. This era of football is soft.
"A team of captains" Spot on, because that fact helps to make any team a title winning team... Right now Arsenal have maybe 4 players that are Captain material so they're moving in the right direction.
Freedie was a passionate gooner who even showed the colours on his hair. This guy was flambouyant because wenger gave him free spirit. Gave them all the free spirit. Great credit to wenger, best manager then & now.

Great analysis from the player many thought the least talented of the great 2004 Invincible first eleven. But he won the EPL Player of the Season in 2002 when Arsenal won the title as well. But he was an important part of the Invincible team. Thierry Henry speed and power, Dennis Bergkamp vision and outrageousness, Robert Pires dribbling and guile, Patrick Vieira leadership and presence, Gilberto awareness and dependability, Ashley Cole tenacity and heart, Lauren intelligence and stamina, Sol Campbell physic and defending, Kolo Toure athleticism and youth, Jen Lehmann craziness and reflexes, He had something that no other player had. Freddie Ljungberg movement and stealth. How many times have we seen him ghosting past everyone to score. Even helping out Lauren in defence.

@jimmywenger8979 Like I said it's a domestic achievement not the same as winning European Cup that brings international prestige against the biggest clubs in the World. Ajax were unbeaten in 1995 both domestically and UCL that season a run of 48 games overall no team as ever achieved such a feat.
@@jackwei22 oh ok you meant doing it in a foreign league. Yeah I hear you but all over the world the prem is regarded as the toughest league there is where the bottom team can beat the top team on any given week. If you win the champions league thats a great achievment in itself, I'm not overly familiar with dutch football but as far as im aware Ajax is a big fish in a small pond there so I'm afraid they don't get much credit for going unbeaten but for them to win the CL does show they had one of the best teams in Europe at the time for sure. :)
I think the Invincibles Arsenal Team is the best football team i have ever seen. Better than Pep's Barcelona and the fact they didn't win the Champions league just shows how hard it is to win. This Arsenal team were close to perfect.
@danniwilder2198 My comment is based on seeing them play football and they were close to perfect in my humble opinion. At that time I was a young Chelsea fan and HATED Arsenal, but I remember that they were a ridiculously good football team.
Another scary team from that era was Dep La Coruna. They were absolutely terrifying for 2 or 3 years. As terrifying an attacking team as you will ever see. Schooled both Arsenal at Highbury and Man U at Old Trafford.
That Arsenal left flank is the best I have ever seen in the Prem. Cole, Pires & Henry were like a symphony moving across dragging defenders all over the place. Jamie would know this well! 😂
@carter3369 got your excuses locked in already 😂 sorry pal, not true. The premier league has never been tougher. You've currently got City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, United, Villa, Brighton and Spurs fighting for 4th. Its now called a "Top 6" for a reason, the pool of talent is wider. It used to be the "Top 4" as they'd separate themselves away from the rest of the league. Chelsea sit 10th after spending a billion, West ham after winning the third tier European trophy sit in 9th. City remain the best team on the planet. The investment and high wages have impacted massively on creating a monster competition in England. Its without doubt the toughest it's ever been.
@@kb5509 that doesn't disprove the level of competition, it proves the greatness of pep guardiola and city. I'm a United fan pal, it pains me to say it but City won a treble last year for the first time in nearly 25 years and in a league where Wolverhampton can beat Man city, that is simply unheard of.
Loved watching this. I can tell you why we didn't win the Champions League final, it was because Barca had the ref in their pocket. Just speak the truth, it will set you free.
That team should have played a final in Champions in -02-03-04 period. The quality was there, the mishaps was to costly. But i honestly believe they were on pair with peps Barca in the technical aspect, the quality of the possession and the pace. Listen to Carra saying this is the toughest team he ever faced, that speaks volume.
@@mikebrown41182 Getting knocked out of the QFs isn't getting close to me. Anyway, Arsenal had more than enough cracks at the CL when they were either Champions or had finished 2nd in Prem. It comes to a point where it's not down to coincidence or bad luck and it's basically you aren't good enough. Legit great teams usually have a span of 4 years or something and you get what you deserve in Sport eventually and Arsenal were never good enough for the CL. They never experienced an elimination that was unfair.
@@Scallion_D Listen closely to what they say in the video, i think the answer is embedded in there. Heck even some of the clubs and players thought they should have won more, why? Evidently because people thought they were hard to beat and played well. Carra’s words speaks volume. A four year span, yes a UCL final including 02-06, and a man down early, that is misfortune. So agree to disagree, i believe they were good enough but bad luck was definitly part of the equation.
@@mikebrown41182 I don't think the analysis of their CL failures was anywhere near good enough in this vid. No mention of their tactical system and AW refusing to budge on his rigid 4-4-2. The fact the only time they reached the final was when it was Henry soley upfront and Wenger changed the system. (Only slightly mentioned by Freddie but no detail) Being successful and feared in the Prem and Europe aren't the same. I remember those losses during the years you mentioned, i remember Rafa's Valencia and Deportivo suffocating Arsenal's midfield. It was never a case that Arsenal were better but European teams had more nous than them. And the man down vs Barca isn't an excuse as Barca were also screwed as they had a goal wrongly chalked off as a result of the red card.
2:04 That's exactly what fans felt at that time. Arsenal almost bullied other teams in the league at that time. Young fans would probably never understand how ARSENAL did that.
The difference for this team then the other arsenal teams. Were if 1 player get injured another player picks up and scores as much as he did. For example when pires was injured freddie took over and scored lots of goals. Then when freddie got injured pires took over the goals. They were both good runners, hence no team didnt know how to mark them.
@@danniwilder2198drawing 38 games won’t win you the league though. Arsenal won the league unbeaten who has ever done that feat? It’s simply damn near impossible to be replicated
@@evangelpaul1027 The season after Arsenal went unbeaten Chelsea won the league & only lost one game. That lone defeat was a 1-0 loss at M City, a 9th min penalty. The difference between Chelsea replicating what Arsenal did came down to the ref giving M City a pen & as a result a 1-0 win. That's how close Chelsea came to repeating Arsenal's achievement. Liverpool only lost one Prem Lge game during the 2018/19 season. Side note: There have only EVER been 4 teams that have lost fewer than 2 league games during the season. Arsenal 0 defeats 2003/04 Arsenal 1 defeat 1990/91 Chelsea 1 defeat 2004/05 Liverpool 1 defeat 2018/19 These are the only times a team lost fewer than 2 league games in the 146 history of English top flight football. It's a bit surprising that the great Shankly & Paisley Liverpool teams or the great Fergie Man Utd teams never had a season where they lost fewer than 3 games.
@@danniwilder2198 good points you make but that’s exactly what I’m trying to say. Some of the greatest teams still couldn’t do it. It’s being discussed whether this Man City team of the last three years is one of the greatest that has been assembled and they haven’t been able to do it too. So I never understand why people try to downplay how great of an achievement that was.
@@evangelpaul1027 But don't you understand that teams such as Man City don't set a goal at the start of each season to remain unbeaten at all costs? Their only goal as far as the Prem Lge is concerned is to win it, to win the league & become champions. If the number one priority was to remain unbeaten all season, even if that meant drawing more games than they otherwise would, then we might see more teams do it. Because instead of going onto the pitch wanting to win the game & secure 3 points, teams would be more concerned with not losing. Going the 38 games unbeaten doesn't in itself mean a team is any better than if they won the league & lost a couple of games. The season straight after Arsenal's unbeaten season in 03/04 saw Chelsea win the league & only losing one of their 38 games. The one defeat was a 1-0 loss at Man City, it was a 9th minute penalty that City scored. Are you saying that if the ref hadn't given City that penalty & the game ended 0-0 & therefore Chelsea would have been unbeaten all season that it would have made that Chelsea team any better? You need a certain amount of luck to do these things. If Chelsea had been lucky & the ref hadn't given City a penalty then that Chelsea team would have been invincible too.
even though im a gunner i always thought the centurions were better til i asked myself, which record will be beaten sooner, the points record or the unbeaten record. and the points record is the answer which makes the invincibles a "harder" achievement

The ratings in FIFA05 were a bit crazy. Nikopolidis and Morientes were both 90.
@@kb5509 back then they didn't have to compansate for ultimate team so they had the true ratings at the time on launch.
@@Gearshift__ nah. There's loads of overrated players, like the two I mentioned. Bergkamp should never have been ninety when he was in his mid thirties only starting half the games and scoring four goals a season.
For example, fifteen Celtic players were rated eighty or above. Bobo Balde was an 88, does that sound right to you?
Tbf I think they took into context the leagues the teams were playing in aswell and did it individually for each league back then. Also Bergkamp was still unbelievable even in his mid 30s his game didn't really require alot of stamina at that point just pure touch.
@@Gearshift__ then surely that demonstrates how poor the rating system is?
Unbelievable technique doesn't mean your performances are unbelievable. He wasn't world class anymore at that time.
If I'm still as upset as I am about that '06 UCL final, I could only imagine how much it still hurts Freddie.
Must be the most informative and interesting segment I have ever seen on this channel. Well done to all 3.
So true what he said about Bergkamp. Henry even said the same thing.
Dennis was THE man. He did things nobody else was doing.
As a Liverpool fan, this is the best team I've ever seen. They just had so much quality and depths. The game was over for so many even before they walked out on the field.
kind of insane to see the shape Freddie has it end on is almost the exact shape we see pep, arteta and klopp have their teams shift to when attacking. Only real tweak is you wouldnt see both fullbacks up that high but even then essentially it’s the same winning formula.
Those of us who lived these times as adults and remember it well are extremely lucky as arsenal and football fans
"A team of captains"
Spot on, because that fact helps to make any team a title winning team...
Right now Arsenal have maybe 4 players that are Captain material so they're moving in the right direction.
I feel like us Brits should take note of how nice and polite Sir Freddy comes across. What a gent.
Freedie was a passionate gooner who even showed the colours on his hair. This guy was flambouyant because wenger gave him free spirit. Gave them all the free spirit. Great credit to wenger, best manager then & now.
Even though I'm a liverpool fan I remember as a kid watching Ljunberg rocking his iconic PINK hair playing for arsenal and I found it cool at the time. Few minutes ago I just googled "ljunberg pink hair" and man... I swear it looked better in my 7 year old eyes 😂
As a United fan, you simply cannot hate but just appreciate what a fantastic team this Arsenal was. Still believe the PL was the best at this era
I must have watched over a hundred videos just on the Invisibles, but this was up there as one of the best. Really fascinating and insightful from Freddy.
This is the greatest time ever to be a gooner LOVED IT ❤
The team that made me fall in love with football, perfect mix of players, playstyles and leaders, had everything. For me the greatest premier league side
When the focus is on going undefeated because you’ve already wrapped up the league early, you’re on a different level
There have been several teams that had the title wrapped up earlier than Arsenal did in 03/4 season.
@@danniwilder2198 the point is, only Arsenal was undefeated when they were confirmed as league champions. So they had to refocus and make sure they didn’t LOSE a game for the rest of the season.
@@Shemzinho Sure, I agree with you that once a team has the title won it's hard for them to maintain the same focus. Also the manager might be inclined to give some of the fringe players a game or two.
Freddie was my favourite player as a kid. Criminally underrated.

Wenger literally said that he's the most underrated player he has coached.

Both Carra and Gary Neville says they had by far the most difficulty against Arsenal 1998, 2002 and 2004. Pires especially gave them nightmares.
Always nice to see Freddie. He speaks so well.
As a huge Arsenal fan these were amazing times, and when we walked on to the pitch I knew it was an honor to watch this team .
Brilliant piece. Loved it. Thank you Freddie😊 We expect more of this segment 🎉🎉
Ljungberg and Pires on the wings is underrated 🔥
A lot of people talk about Denis, that was put perfectly by Freddie. He was the finest football player I’ve ever seen.
He was a joy to watch. The assist for Freddie against Juventus is one of the greatest.
@@aaroningl he slowed the attack to a walking pace and then just produced a killer pass off 2 turns 😩😭!! Insane … all in a 10 yard space
The Era of men who played proper football
Freddie, Thierry, Dennis, Patrick and so on were amazing that particular season
That season we won 26. Drawn 12. And Ljungberg was part of that championship season.
Great analysis from the player many thought the least talented of the great 2004 Invincible first eleven. But he won the EPL Player of the Season in 2002 when Arsenal won the title as well. But he was an important part of the Invincible team.
Thierry Henry speed and power,
Dennis Bergkamp vision and outrageousness,
Robert Pires dribbling and guile,
Patrick Vieira leadership and presence,
Gilberto awareness and dependability,
Ashley Cole tenacity and heart,
Lauren intelligence and stamina,
Sol Campbell physic and defending,
Kolo Toure athleticism and youth,
Jen Lehmann craziness and reflexes,
He had something that no other player had.
Freddie Ljungberg movement and stealth.
How many times have we seen him ghosting past everyone to score. Even helping out Lauren in defence.
As an Arsenal fan, even if we win UCL in the next years, I will always feel the frustration of the loss agaisnt barcelona. This was my favorite 11 of all time.

On a domestic level yes
@@jackwei22 well if you like to think of it like that then yeah I guess.
@@jackwei22 as opposed to going undefeated in an International season or something you mean? Like the nations league or something?
We have to have some pity for Carra. Facing prime Cole and Henry has definitely left some marks… 20 years deep.
Add Pires to that list. It is genuinely a nightmare. I respect Carra for being honest here even though he talks crap sometimes.
Man suffered
I think the Invincibles Arsenal Team is the best football team i have ever seen. Better than Pep's Barcelona and the fact they didn't win the Champions league just shows how hard it is to win. This Arsenal team were close to perfect.
Close to perfect? Yet the 2003/4 Arsenal team lost 6 games in other competitions during that season.
Dennis and Henry were on a different level! Yall remember that dennis goal against Newcastle 😮 manz basically rewrote physics!
Carragher’s advice of ‘stand still’ 😂 Worked well for him at Highbury in 2004, and Anfield in 2006 🎉🎉
No one will go invincible in a Premier League season ever again.
They will
It will probably happen again just because the league is so much easier nowadays compared to the Invincible era.
@@adamyeejy-sk9fhis that why they champions are breaking points records every year.
A player that isnt mentioned all that much. I remember him from when I was a lil boy. Him and pires were mint
Its mad how only Saliba and Saka would get into that team. That team was just unreal!
Premier league in my opinion peaked round 2000 to 2005.

So funny that on the 90+ points chart 2 of those 3 seasons saw Liverpool finish 2nd.
We all love the old school Arsenal
That team should have played a final in Champions in -02-03-04 period. The quality was there, the mishaps was to costly. But i honestly believe they were on pair with peps Barca in the technical aspect, the quality of the possession and the pace. Listen to Carra saying this is the toughest team he ever faced, that speaks volume.
Let's be honest they never even got close to the final in those years.
Not a coincidence, Arsenal weren't good enough.
@@Scallion_D "never really close" 3 games away, >
(Only slightly mentioned by Freddie but no detail)
Being successful and feared in the Prem and Europe aren't the same.
That was arsenals best ever season!
This is what arteta is trying to recreate hence why he bought rice and timber

It was the boxer shorts poster right?
What a good player and man he is!

Greatest achievement in EPL history
Utter tosh. You could draw all 38 games & end the season unbeaten but with 38 points, would that be a great achievement?
Arsenal 0 defeats 2003/04
Arsenal 1 defeat 1990/91
Chelsea 1 defeat 2004/05
Liverpool 1 defeat 2018/19
These are the only times a team lost fewer than 2 league games in the 146 history of English top flight football.
Any manager can set out to not lose, klopp did it for a year solid at anfield, most teams want to win the game tho. Not arsene wenger tho. A draw was that guys' desired result every time, lol.

And what, the City team of the last few seasons & the Chelsea team from 04 - 08 wasn't something else too?
@@danniwilder2198 No not to that level, they matched and copied it by abusing FFP, etc, etc, and so on and so fourth of cheating. Even with the nowhere billionaire funded crud you mentioned they done before and since anything close...that team was special. Hence the unique trophy.
@@enchantededition6879 All you are doing is showing how clueless you are. For example: How was Chelsea cheating FFP in 2004/5 when FFP wasn't even invented until 2011? There was no such thing as FFP when Chelsea were winning trophies in Abramovich's first 8 years at Chelsea.
If the Arsenal team of 03/04 was so special, why didn't they successfully defend their title & why didn't they make any impact in the Champions Lge?
And yes, other teams have come very close to repeating what Arsenal did in 2003/04.
