Here in the UK the drinking culture is huge. And if you don't drink you'll be considered an outlier. Times are changing and it's getting more socially acceptable to 'not' drink but it's still tough here to kick it entirely. I drink hardly ever these days and honestly it's fun and you come up with some funny stories and ideas when under the influence, but my major gripe with alcohol is that even after about 2/3 drinks, it completely robs me of my quality sleep and lifts my resting HR by around 5/10 bpm [it's normally pretty low anyway]. Balance and moderation of course but it's hard to argue anyone is physically better from consuming alcohol!

I was shredded af (8%) and in the best shape of my life last summer while heavily drinking every week-end. But it caught me back after a few months and it's just a sink of time, health and money. Now I just have a drink for special occasions. I can't stand being not productive and sick the day after

I cannot drink too close to bed, the quality of sleep is negative. I drink on special occasions only and when I do drink I try to make it during the day time so my sleep doesn’t get too effected

I can’t be a drinker and be in shape. I’m in my 40s and have gone through the cycle of being in incredible shape and being a drinker. Those two things have never happened at the same time. Drinking pretty much doomed my athletic career 20 plus years ago. You have a small window and if you fuck it up it’s over. That was me.

Thank you, I’m 22 and I’m trying to be break into an athletic career after years of training and most of my friends are partying and I’m cool with it but I just don’t wanna sacrifice my future like I did in highschool partying. I appreciate your wisdom

I feel ya. Just turned 40. It just doesn't make sense anymore. Not a useful endeavor, drinking. Over 3 years for me, I don't miss it. I thought I would, bit I just don't. Found something better!

@@Paulmight1 it's good you're thinking that way. Smart. Just surround yourself with like minded people. And stay busy. There's a really good strength community out there. I found some really great people.

@@Paulmight1 Just be confident in what you want out of life and surround yourself with people who have the same goals. One of my biggest mistakes was surrounding myself with the wrong people. Nothing against partying, but how much can you achieve when you're drunk and stoned every week? Some people are content with that, and so be it. You sound like you want more than that, so you already know the choices you should be making. Good luck.

Drunk Sleep Is The Best For Me.. But Being Hungover Is What Everyone Hates ESPECIALLY When Your Trying To Live A Fit And Healthy Lifestyle. And If You’re Trying To Be Fit Or Look Fit (LIKE ME) Then If Your Drinking To Get Drunk More Than You Like Then You’re Just Gonna Keep Starting Over On Your Fitness Journey, And Thats Frustrating AF!! But Sacrifices Are Apart Of Success. To All The Hard Drinkers/Alcoholics We Can Do This Lol 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Drinking is what helps me get out of bed when the sun rises. That slight stomach discomfort makes me jump out of bed and get straight into daily tasks

Everyone is different. I knew people, including my dad, had brandy. Always had brandy. The only ones that lowered brandy level, was me in my teens or my grandfather in his sixties, seventies and eighties

Hard Kombucha is where its at. Ill have a couple every few months and I usually feel better the next day instead of miserable. I really have a hard time finding anyone to drink it with me though so socially not as fun I guess.

Alcohol is a time thief. If you're a family man, it's a waste of time and money. I haven't had a drink in 3 years, don't miss it. I'd much rather spend my time otherwise. Including, being useful to others.
I'm sure it has benefits to some. I just know there are better things out there where it's not a question of whether or not it's good for you. You can find out on your own what those things are.

Alcohol is probably the most overrated drug in my opinion. Just being sober hanging out around drunks makes you realize how dumb/ignorant people act on it. I do think it's fine in moderation like anything but man do most people over do it.
