Ohio State should have beaten Michigan last year, and if not for Michigan’s cheating the last three years, maybe Ohio State would not have lost at all! I really believe Ohio State wins the National Championship this year! 🌰🏈
I would not be shocked if Sayin wins the starting job, but I am not sure if I will predict it to happen. I don't think Howard has the accuracy to beat elite secondaries.
I think if Julian is making the push I'm hearing start him. We got the running game to rely on the first few weeks to ease him into it and let's be honest. Outside of Oregon we don't have a bunch of top talent to contend with week in and week out. All I know is we gotta make it happen this year. No excuses.
If he was 21st with that team? What will happen with possibly the best running back room for any team in years? Or with Ohio States A+ typical WR room? Or a defense that is going to be the best in College football getting them the ball back in great territory? Both Howard and Brown can run which will keep at least some attention from the defense possibly opening up the field. Whoever it is will have three legs up on the competition
Sayin is more like Bryce Young to me than JJ.. I don’t think he’s like JJ what so ever.. He woulda been the #1 player in his class if he was bigger without a doubt. Raiola was 6’4” 220
as a diehard KSU fan, Will Howard has tons of potential to lead a team to a title. Problem is he doesnt handle pressure well in the pocket and is prone to hero ball that throws away possesions.
@thekrakenguy6962 Thanks. He's a big kid and he has weapons. We'll have to see. Hopefully our OL can put him in better situations. KSU's OL was pretty damn good last year if I remember correctly. We'll just have to see. First, we have to see him win the job. Thanks again. Good luck to you and your Wildcats.
#1 ) according to Ryan Day -- Will Howard has really 'evolved' / 'changed his body' and ''took command in huddle'' - earning the starting spot. #2 ) as per chip Kelly he ran 22 mph @ 236 pounds ! (wow) #3 ) Jim Knowles said Howard has been placing the ball regularly - only where these 5* WR can catch it ! > that's all I know - and it really seems to suit them ?
Will howard in a run first check down offense can be as efficient as anyone. With osus wrs and running backs there will almost always be a slant or running back open
I kind of agree with this. We didn't get him to light up the skys. We're gonna run the ball and play defense. All he's gotta do is make the right reads hit 1 or 2 big passes a game and manage the offense. We don't need anything special from him to be successful. But I also think if one of these young bulls is ready put them out there.
Ohio State definitely played well enough to beat Michigan last year, except for that stupid early interception that an overrated Kyle McCord threw, that actually cost Ohio State the game, and the National Championship as well! That pick was the only difference in the game! Ohio State wins it all this year! 🌰🏈
Just taking Will Howard's 2023 final stats doesn't give the full picture of what he brings to the table. In his last 6 games at KSU, Howard passed for 1,333 yds with 15 passing tds, 3 rushing tds, 3 ints and averaged a 162.1 passer rating. He saved his best performance for KSU's toughest opponent Texas, where he finished with 327 passing yds, 4 passing tds, 1 int and a passer rating of 157.7. That's a lot more pre-transfer success than Michael Pennix or Bo Nix had, and at Ohio State Howard is going to have better coaching, and on some levels a better supporting cast, than either of those two transferred into. Then as far as highlighting his 3 picks against a "trash" OK ST secondary, lets not forget JJ did the same against BG. QBs do have bad games.A lot of this "concern" over Howard's ability to successfully lead Ohio State is overblown. He's more than capable of doing everything Chip Kelly will ask of him, at an elite level.
Yeah and you're also not telling the whole picture with the stats you listed for his last 6 games. 24-48 1 td 1 int against iowa state AT HOME is not a good look. Mind you Memphis put up more points on iowa state than k state....Then 24-48 against kansas state. Those passer ratings you listed are skewed because two of his games that give him a huge bump in ratings came against houston and tcu where he went 10-16 for 154 yds and 3 tds/ 15/17 for 164 yds and 2 tds respectfully. In both of those games his rating was above 200 due to having the tds on low passing attempts. I've watched literally every game of his because im a college football nut and literally love the game and wanted to learn more about mr howard. And after hearing the arguments about him not having elite players to throw to (which I understand) I also at the same time recognize he was literally throwing against the worst defenses in college football. Nor was he playing against any top defenses in the big 12. Texas was 15th in defensive rankings nationally, and literally every other team in the big 12 was ranked 49th and below with only 3 being in the top 60 and k state was one of those teams...let that sink in. Furthermore. Those 9 rushing tds are not that impressive. he had 351 yds last season. Thats 29 yds per game average with his best game coming against oklahoma state where he had 104 rushing yds.....with THREE interceptions against a team that lost to SOUTH ALABAMA 33-7. Youre telling me that South Alabama can play better than K state and company? Truly its sad. Will Howard is NOT an upgrade from Mccord, not on paper and not on film. Day's best bet would be to develop another player and see what you actually have to work with. For Howard being a 5th year player he still plays like a 2nd year player.
@@sly7634 You can parse and cherry pick each game any way you want. Against TCU's toughest opponent Texas, Howard had his best game. I have a multi-faceted opinion on the QB just like everyone else. In the NFL it is a little different. When talent is equated, as Urban Meyer likes to say on TV, you have to win in the margins. The QB doesn't have to be a hero like Tua, Sunshine, or Watson. And it sure helps if he is that talented. But he has to be mistake free. Kyle McCord and Devin Brown, 2 very highly recruited QBs haven't done it.
I saw something somewhere... a season simulation type thing... Ohio State lost to Xichigan twice but ended up winning the national title with a win over Notre Dame. Would Buckeye fans be happy with that outcome?
I think that we need elite QB play. Most Buckeye fans seem to think that our QB needs to be just a good game manager. That may get us to the playoffs, but it won't win a national title. Another year of McCord type numbers will surely make us fall short.
@Kooterkatt That's true, but Bennett also had an all-time elite defense, a great o-line, and an elite TE. Their real downside on offense was WR and RB but they played amazing.
@Kooterkatt Yes. For sure. Having 2 top notch RBs is really getting to be normal for us, though. I do think that Henderson and Judkins may be our best 1-2 punch in a very long time. Understand... I'm not thinking that this offense won't be good enough to roll. I think that it will be. In the end, though... at the end of the playoffs, I believe that we will need a QB with a lot of moxie that can make big plays through the air and on the ground. I just see QB play (or possibly TE play) as the 2 unknowns that we have. I think that this team can win a national title. Elite QB play puts us as the favorite in my eyes.
Ohio State needs to fix the defense that has lost them the last game of the regular season for the past 3 years. When they can't win the last game of the season, they will never be a serious contender for the national championship. Defense wins championships! We all want another national title, after all, isn't that why all these amazing 5 stars are choosing to be Buckeyes? Let's stop disappointing them and more importantly, lets stop giving up 40 plus points per game on defense against top 5 teams!!
